I'm joining a little prematurely but my Finn is 54lbs at 28wks so I'm sure we'll meet and surpass the heavyweight requirement soon. :-) :-)
Chester is an f2B .. 80 Lbs at 15 months.
He was in a litter of 4 - His parents are smaller ~60 Lbs , 70 Lbs. His brothers are around the same weight as him.
Sounds like Sash next some extra lovin' 'cause she's excluded from our heavyweights group, bless her heart!
Lynette - Yes, the F1s tend to be larger if a parent is a large standard poodle. I think most people are looking for smaller doodles since they do live in your home with you, but I love the big doodles. My first doodle weighed 105 pounds and he was my best dog ever. My large doodle now weighs 90 pounds and he is 30 inches tall. He is a F1b however, and his father was a large phantom poodle. He is one of the larger offspring, however, and that is what I requested from the breeder. So, if you really want a larger doodle, seek out parents that are large and let the breeder know that you are interested in size. They definitely are out there, but size tends to be getting smaller.
Marnie - LOL, My Oliver is a "big boy" @ 80 lbs and my BF pointed out to me that you don't have to bend down to pet him, which I really never noticed. My Sasha is 50 lbs and you have to bend to pet her. Now that he pointed that out to me I tell my Sasha "oh Sash... I have to bend to give you lovin'" but I don't mind becuase she is the sweetest girl ever :)
...."sought"....
I specifically saught an F1 pup from large parents because I don't want to have to bend down to pet my dog....just sayin'. So yes, there are some out there that breed larger labradoodles but they aren't as easy to find as the smaller doodles.
Toby is 80 pounds, and he doesn't even seem big to me. We are considering a second, and I'd go the same size again in a heartbeat.
Probably not, Lynette, since the demand is for smaller doodles. In fact, one reason many doodles are given up by their owners is that they are "too big". I know it's hard to believe, but I have seen the paperwork. I usually wish I could ask them "too big for what?" Unless the dog is too big to fit through the door of the house, that makes no sense to me.
