Rosco definitely looks 'slimmer' when I trim his hair...even a little bit. He has a WAIST!

Yes, it doesn't do you any good to get irritated. When Mickey's hair is long a lot of people think he's a sheep dog. I always tell people that we got 20 more pounds of love than we thought we were getting. That seems to work quite well.

Well I don't think Hollywood looks "fat" - you are all right - fluffy is the right description. Everyday when I'm out with Twitch, people think he is an Irish Elkhound.

Linda - Just say something flippant like "just more to love". Don't let it get to you. When I first got Hondo, people had not seen labradoodles and were always asking me what kind of a dog he was. We had an older brown standard poodle and one day someone stopped me when we were walking at Ft. Ord and asked what he was. I was feeling frisky and explained that we loved our old poodle so much that we decided to have him cloned. It wasn't successful and we got Hondo, but we loved him anyway. The guy looked at me like I was nuts and just walked away. I laughed for days! Have some fun with silly questions.

They sell a bandanna for dogs that reads "I'm Not Fat, I'm Fluffy." Leslie has it for Halas, a mini who only weighs 25 #, but his coat makes him look much bigger. Jackdoodle is a little bit overweight, but nobody has had the nerve to say so, at least not to my face.

I get so tired of people commenting that my dog is fat! Hollywood is76#, but eats nothing other than her dog food, apples and raw carrots for snacks/training treats. She passed her CGC test today and one of the evaluators actually stated she didn't have an hourglass figure and was she overweight?? I commented that alot of goldendoodles have this shape. I get so tired of hearing that though!!! Anybody else have that problem??

I thought Twitch was a heavyweight. He's about the same size as Groucho Too. Groucho Too is almost 3 years old also. His birthday is in March. He went through a little chewing stage, but we just kept chewy toys and treats around all the time to exchange for anything he should not be chewing (like my glasses snagged from off the nightstand).

Twitch is about 88 lbs and almost 3 years old. He is 29" at the shoulder. I went through a period with him, where he chewed everything in sight, even though I have another dog. After crating him for several months he seems to have grown out of his bad habits.

Sandi, Jeff & Mickey - Sounds like your problem is one many of us have gone through. It is so hard for a doodle to be home all day alone. They are such gregarious dogs. Actually, the same kind of problem got us into doodles in the first place.
Our story! Six years ago, my son's old shephard died. My husband's standard poodle was alone for the first time in his life. All of us were gone all day at work or at school, and Bruno was by himself. We live in a rural area, but he cried constantly until he had no voice left. He also was depressed. I decided I needed to get him another dog for a companion. My brother-in-law recommended a labradoodle (which I had never heard of) and I started researching online. That's how Hondo came into our family (as a companion for Bruno) and it worked beautifully. When Bruno was nearing his trip to the rainbow bridge, we decided to get Groucho Too as a companion for Hondo and Hondo was so taken with GT that he didn't even notice when Bruno died.
My neighbor went another route when her dalmation died leaving her lab alone. She started taking him to doggie day care a couple of times a week and he would be so tired after a day at doggie day care that he was happy to have a relaxing day at home by himself.
I'm not sure if I would recommend another dog for you at this time, but just the awareness of his problem if a first step. He expects to be included in your activities after work. How can you give him so more time or alternative activities?
