@Veronica - Fenway is the same. For him "not food motivated" doesn't mean we can't use food for treats - we can. He's interested in treats for training etc. However, when it comes to eating his meal, we often have to encourage him to eat. (And his food is SUPER awesome quality so I can't imagine it's because it sucks!)

We do a few things - 1) Play a game to get him to "catch" his kibble. Once he has a taste for it, he will often then go and eat it.

2) We use a "puzzle feeder" bowl to make it more interesting (and slow him down, because on the rare times that he scarfs it down, he will normally throw up...)

3) We use feeding and treat toys (again, to make it a fun puzzle.) Sometimes we'll also put a few treats in with his kibble to encourage him to eat - not super high value, just enough to get him started.

He's definitely smaller than his brothers and sisters, though he's also SUPER active so I'm sure that plays a role. He's not underweight, he's perfectly healthy, he's just more "social" than "food oriented".

Anybody here find their mini isn't all that food obsessed/motivated? My girl (2 yrs old in November and 18lbs) needs to really be hungry in order to eat most anything. Some days she'll eat three times and the next day she will have no interest in food or will only eat once. She isn't losing weight or having any health problems. She honestly seems 100% fine but I was just wondering if this was a mini thing or if it's her own personality. I figure it isn't the worst thing to have a dog who knows to eat when she's actually hungry and not stuff herself but sometimes I start to wonder.

Wow!  So Nimbus might actually hit the 20 pound mark!!!  Woo Hoo!!!!!  It's amazing how much lighter 18 pounds feels than Kona's 24 pounds, huh Helga?  And Maggie is only 5 pounds heavier than Kona at 29 pounds, yet she feels and acts more like a 50 pound dog!

Nimbus was

9 wk 5 lbs 12 oz

3 Mo 9 lbs

4 Mo 12.9 lbs, 14"

5 Mo 15 lbs 4 oz, 15"

7 Mo 17 lbs 16"

8 Mo 18-19 lbs 16 1/4 "

Yeah, I think she was the runt! I don't think she will ever be more than 17 lbs. !

Sounds like Callie might be a mini mini. :)

I find it amazing that the growth spurts are so different. If Callie at 5 mos gained at the level of most of these other dogs, she would only be about 11 lbs! Can't digest this! I keep trying to get her to the 20 lbs the breeder said she would be, but it's not happening lol!

Sorry about that duplicate entry. Copy and paste on an iPad is not obvious that the text is there

Debbie,
I misspoke! I just went back and read some of my older entries. Kona didn't max out until 8 months
8.5 weeks, 3.5 pounds (Kona was the runt of the litter of 10. All of his siblings were 6 to 7 pounds at 8 weeks)
3 months, 9 pounds
4 months, 15 pounds
5 months, 19 pounds, 15 inches tall at the whithers
6 months, 19 pounds, 15 inches tall
6.5 months, 22 pounds
7.5 months 22.5 pounds
8 months 24 pounds 16.5 inches tall at the whithers.
10 months 23.5 pounds
10.5 months 25 pounds
11 months 24 pounds
11.5 months 24.5 pounds.

Kona was 19 pounds at 5 months old, and he maxed out at 24 pounds at 8 months. He is 18 months now and is still 24 pounds.
Here is a link to one of my old posts on the Puppy Madness forum under the weight thread. You might want to scroll around in that threD to get a feel for how your girl might grow. Sounds like she might max out under 20 pounds.
