Hi Ruby. You could pose your question in the Food Group and see if our expert can give you some input. Ruby is adorable!
Hi Ruby you are sure a cutie-pie!! Lara, the chart on the dog food bag is just a recommendation and will need to be adjusted depending on each dog's variables such as activity level and growth rate etc. Your vet would have told you if he/she thought Ruby was underweight. You can monitor her by checking her spine and ribs to make sure they are not starting to protrude. It's good she is food motivated though because it makes training a lot easier! :) You might also post your question in the Puppy Madness group so other puppy owners can share their experiences with you. BTW, if she is 28 pounds at 5 months you may have a bit more than a mini on your hands-maybe a medium...:)
Hello from Ruby! She is a 28lb, 5-month-old "mini." I am feeding her according to the chart on the Orijen Puppy formula (~2/3c. 3xday = 2c. per day), but she seems frantically hungry ALL THE TIME. And by "frantically" I mean beyond "enthusiastically/excitedly/energetically/eagerly" hungry to "my-very-life-and-the-lives-of-all-my-loved-ones-depends-on-my-eating-any-food-I-can-access-as-fast-as-caninely-possible" hungry. Is this normal puppy behavior? The vet says she's healthy, but I wanted to compare with other owners. Wondering if she needs more food! Thanks for your input.
Also please note our article on how to choose a breeder contains plenty of links at the bottom to get you started. Use the criteria in our article to weed out the breeders with obvious low standards and when you have narrowed it down to a handful ask in our main discussion Forum as you'll reach more people there. Ask for private feedback on each of the breeders you are considering. Here is our article: http://www.doodlekisses.com/notes/What_To_Look_for_In_a_Breeder
Please note that our community guidelines prohibit recommending breeders publicly. If you have a recommendation, just ask that people ask you privately.
(Breeder Name Removed By Admin). They are probably close enough for you to drive but will also deliver. They specialize in Australian doodles. Wonderful breeder and wonderful dogs!
I live in Southern California, but got my mini from western Montana. (Breeder Name Removed By Admin). So if you are willing to look around in other states, you'll have many choices and there are safe ways to get them delivered if you can't fly out to pick them up and don't want your new baby shipped via the cargo space. My breeder put me in touch with a wonderful woman who picked Kona up for me and flew with him at her feet in the main cabin of the plane.
Karen, my Nimbus' breeder ships all over US but situated in California. She specializes is Minis (17 to 25 lbs) and Toys (5 to 12 lbs)/
Anyone know of a trusted mini or small doodle breeder in the CT/upstateNY/MA area?
