Whereever I go my shadow goes. We packed the car in January and hit the road for Miami Beach. MB is a very dog friendly city - MOST places. Not the public beaches for the most part - some towns really are really on the look out and some not. There are dog beaches and parks. The ONLY restaurant with outdoor seating that would not allow Samantha to join us is Cheesecake Factory - both here and on the road so I don't go there anymore. The other restaurants were thrilled to have her - we always ordered for also so they wouldn't they??
Hotels - we stay on the road at Candlewood Suites. I used to let them know we were travelling with Samantha and they charged $75??. I stoppped telling them and if they say anything they can always charge me. She does not do any damage and rarely is in the hotel without us.

I will be taking Yankee to Florida in December and we're driving. It's a long drive and I will take any advice I can get. He is NOT crazy about driving but will tolerate it to get to places he wants to go. He was carsick as a puppy but that has passed. He always sits in the front with me so I don't know how he will do in the back. I can't leave him for 2 weeks.

I have left Shiloh at a kennel one time.....he was about 6 months old and so HYPER that I didn't know how to ask my mom to watch him, lol....so I kenneled him while we went away just for a weekend....but I would much rather take them with us if it is a trip that they can enjoy also. My mom and dad have an RV and they take their dog everywhere with them. I want to take the boys to the beach....I think they would love it!

Thanks for the invite. I don't travel at all, with or without dogs, but I think this group will help give me some ideas on how to start. I am getting close to retirement, and I don't think I could ever leave Jackdoodle in a kennel, especially as he gets older. He is an excellent passenger in the car, too.
