Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I loved it at first, it was white, it was cold…
We had fun till week twelve, then it quickly got old….
On early morning walks when that cold wind would blow,
I’d shudder, move faster and think “Oh my Doodle – oh no”….…

This is a blog on the process of my Labradoodle Reese. He was picked by me at three weeks old to hopefully become a service and assistance dog for my disability of copd.
I am keeping all his progress listed here as we progress.
We have a few professional service dog trainers helping us along our journey. I have in 46 years obedience and protection trained dogs. This is just a new path I am taking.
I chose the Labradoodle…

I talk to my mom on the phone almost every single day and most of the time she likes to mention that the ladies she eats dinner with got the biggest kick out of some story she told about my dogs and me. It is getting so I can’t tell her anything about Fudge or Vern or she turns it into a comedy routine for the table she sits with at dinner. I really think her main goal is to make me sound nuts…

Greetings to all of my furry and non-furry friends, dogs and humans alike (as well as humans who are furry and dogs that aren't furry).
My favorite Sophie and human mom have seen "The Lego Movie" twice so far. And my human mom has been warbling the chorus of the film's song "Everything Is Awesome!" to everyone's great dismay. But the song is the perfect musical accompaniment for today's blog post. Why, you ask? Read on, my loyal fans, read on.
What's…

I found this poem on the Lucky Dog Rescue website: http://luckydogrescueblog.blogspot.com/2013/07/why-i-write.html and I thought about Felicia who is now living in a happy and safe furever home and decided to combine the poem with some images of Felicia, how she was when we received her and how she is now!...
A POEM TO MY FOSTER DOG,…

Once we realized what we had gotten ourselves into, we began to follow the recommendations from various sources of how to go about raising litter mates to be individuals who are well-bonded with their humans. We have contacted a trainer who has given us some good advice and the pups are signed up for Puppy Class. We also have a friend who is going to take them one at a time to her house to socialize with her well-behaved, easy going adult dogs (a doodle and a golden). She is a sitter for…

Our family gatherings are “chaotic”, and rarely go as planned, yet they’re so much fun, and create a preponderance of memories. That is why I absodoodletutely adore “Sunday Brunch.”
Our daughter Tiffany, decided to host one yesterday. Her choice of words on the invite (yes, she sent out invites!) was pawdorable:
“Everyone is invited to my house for Sunday Brunch – two and four legs”…
I was so excited to see Kate…

I once had a story of a dog who was rescued, lived with a foster parent and then was adopted. It was a heartwarming story told in the words of an imaginary dog, describing the feelings when arriving in foster care and then after being adopted.
However, that was 2 or 3 computers ago and I no longer have or cannot find the story.
I need it for recruiting foster families for Maltese Rescue California.
Regards and thanks from,
Richard, Holly the trusty goldendoodle…

Hello doodle friends. I am thinking I should try to keep a journal of sorts here on DK, so that friends who are thinking about getting litter mates can make an informed decision or at least have an an idea about one crazy family's experience. Most importantly, I don't want to forget all of the little milestones and stories about our puppies, and I am sure I will with the hectic life of having three human children and two fur babies. By blogging here on DK, maybe we can help someone else,…

Everybody with a dog does it. Whether it’s multiple times a day or just once because you’ve hired a dog walking service while you’re at work. If you have a dog, more than likely you will be out there walking the dog!…
Not until recently did I realize even though Harley and Leo have many similarities:

Hi everyone....i sort of dropped off the face of the dk earth for the last 4 months....just wanted to say Duncan is doing well. He's 5 now. We had a few issues over the last couple of months with increased thirst and some head tremors. Ultimately blood and urinalysis were good and so we're thinking it has been anxiety but who knows.
He's been loving all the snow we have been dumped with here on the east coast. He REALLY loves the new fuzzy throw i bought for my bedroom and on a sad…

I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but this winter has taken over my life, my thoughts, and my moods. I don’t ever remember a winter when the snow would not melt and stayed around for such a long period of time. We live in the boondocks and I drive to different locations to walk my dogs. We…

Last Wednesday we were told to “brace ourselves” for snow accumulations ranging anywhere from 12-15 inches. I tried to resist, but finally succumbed to the grocery store madness, and ran out that afternoon to grab a few items “just in case.”
As I hung up my coat and unpacked my “goodies” I went through a mental check list to ensure I hadn’t forgotten anything I needed to do. Nope! Couldn’t think of a thing.
In my mind, everything was “good to…

Most of us on DK consider our dogs as part of our families. However, there are some people who seem to think of their dogs as items; to be disposed of, if flawed.
Truman is a five year old Yorkie who was dumped into a shelter because this little boy has lost his eyesight. Our Veterinarian eye doctor has confirmed that Truman's vision problems are due to a…

We moved into our house at the end of the year and thought some of you would like to see Snicks new digs. He LOVES the deck, we have dubbed him the captain because every morning he goes out on it and looks over the lake.
He also loves looking out the big dining room window…
