Wow is Katie getting big!!

It hasn't been long since Christmas and you can see how big Katie has gotten so far. We asked the vet at her last visit how big he thought she would get and he said "A general guideline is once they hit 4 months old they normally double in size from there when fully grown" Wow!!! We knew she would be big but she is already bigger than our lab mix (who is about 45lbs). She's going to be a big girl hehe.

Alyssa (my 8 year old daughter) loves Katie to death and Katie is very… Continue

Samantha's 1st Birthday Dinner Party with Beau

Beau invited Samantha out to dinner to celebrate her first birthday! They did invite the DP along as chaperones and to pay the bill, of course! They had a fantastic time as did the DP and the other guests sitting around us. They Doodles were on their best behavior. Just wanted to share the pictures from the evening.…

Doodles and Cats...

Holly just loves her friend, Felix, who is a twelve year-old tomcat. What is surprising is that Felix reciprocates her feelings. I see lots of pictures of Doodles and their kitty friends. I wonder if Doodles are more prone to good relationships with cats than other breeds of dogs?

There's a great new online magazine called Pet E!.

Awesome!

Just realized this had blog action...bit slow on the giddy-up this week. This site is terrific...so helpful (and friendly!)! This will be a great outlet for all of my random Doodle/puppy thoughts, which will most definitely assist in not driving my hubby nuts with it (wouldn't want to risk him not loving the idea of a new puppy!) as well as my friends. Particularly one of my really good buds, who also happens to be our vet. I always feel a bit guilty when I 'talk shop' with her...she really… Continue

A journey well taken

When my husband and I made the very spontaneous decision to buy Cody (At a pet store - sorry but it was love at first site) we didn't know what we were getting into. But it has been an incredible journey, with alot of new friends both for us and Cody (Thank goodness for the Orange County dog parks.) Now fortunately I found out about Doodlekisses thanks to Nate and his mom who we met in Laguna Beach. What a great site full of fabulous info.

It's wonderful knowing you are not alone, and your… Continue

The Endless Adventures of Cole...

The best part about owning a dog is when you come home and see their big brown eyes looking up at you and their tail is wagging. You know they have been moping around all day just waiting for that moment you burst through the door saying "here boy" Cole was so excited when I came home today he was tugging on my pant leg until I got down on the floor to wrestle with him. So I did and when he turned over he had his first RED ROCKET! Oh my gosh! I guess he was really excited to see… Continue

weight

I just had fergie to the Vet. IT'S HER BIRTHDAY ON THURSDAY. I am so happy with her and my breeder. When I was looking for a breeder I said I wanted a doodle on the smaller side but I did want the poodle to be a standard. I just think standards have a calmer sweeter temperament. I'd seen many big doodles with very long long legs. Not that there is anything wrong with that but that was not the look i wanted. Anyway at 1 yr old Fergie only weighs 42… Continue

Robert Redfur...How Do I Love Thee? Let me count the ways: Playing "I'm Gonna Getchyoooo" at 11pm!

Do you ever get a good look at your doodle and just think...you are the cutest thing in the whole world????

(I guess who doesn't think that of their doodle, right?)

This weekend I started trimming my labradoodle Rosco's coat and face ( it's a weekend long process for me) and I can see his eyes so well now and I love him sooooo much... and I have been telling him that a lot lately! I just can't get enough of this face!…

off topic The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Finally got to see the movie. The scenes of him riding on the motorcycle (not in New Orleans) are on my road, the lighthouse is the Madisonville Lighthouse (Tchefuncte River), about 600 yds from my house, as the crow flies. A lot of other familiar places.
I highly recommend the movie. Great acting, and for us locals, there is something else that touches you....(at least it did me).

DISHONEST DOODLE BREEDER - "Update"

For anyone who saw my earlier warnings last fall about a breeder advertising his dogs on here I thought you might want an update. After many e-mails encouraging me to report this man to the humane society and to the police, Dave Nikell from River Oaks Farm in Winnipeg Manitoba, had his farm raided by the local Humane Society in Winnipeg Manitoba and by the RCMP. He was found to be running a puppy mill with over 50 labradoodle dogs in horrible conditions. All dogs have now been rescued and Mr.… Continue

Rosco and Thule's Birthday photos

Their Birthday (Wed) lasted all of 5 minute I think (minus the burger chopping time and photography...LOL)...

1st in the morning they got their new toys: Skineeez (unstuffed stuffies with a squeaker at both ends).

Rosco went to work and successfully desqueaked his in about 2 minutes flat. Thule wasn't quite sure what to do with hers and hers is still intact.

Later Rosco continued the deconstruction and left this:…

Update on Tuffy SEAcreatures and Thing 1 & Thing 2

Well, within thirty minutes Capp had found a seam and began to chew the Tuffy SEAcreature. I looked at the tag and saw these words: This toy is not meant to be a chew toy.

I don't think there is any toy that is not a CHEW toy to a labradoodle!

Needless to say, I took the SEAcreature away until the doods can have supervised play!

New Toy for Thing 1 & Thing 2

Well, I bought what must be the 100th toy for the two doodles today. Let's see how long it lasts! Usually, a toy with a squeaker lasts less than 30 minutes. Today I got a Tuffy SEAcreature from Orvis. It is purple and cute. It has a squeaker in each arm. So far it is a big hit with Thing 1 & Thing 2 otherwise known as Capp and Joe. They love anything that both can get teeth latched firmly onto in order to pull, growl, and engage in a wild romping version of doggy tug-of-war!

I… Continue

Viva Les Poochs!

I never thought I would say this but, yes, I've become a cult member. There's no mass weddings nor relinquishing of all worldly goods but I'm hooked. As the weather remains cold (not that Oski seems to notice!) we've held off on dropping the pooch off at the groomers to chop off his golden tresses. We've been taking him snowshoeing & swimming & so in the spirit of sympathetic anthropomorphizing, have allowed his hair to grow out till the weather gets a little warmer. Needless to say, at… Continue

Ozzy can be a good boy too!

WELL I AM VERY LUCKY AS YOU CAN SEE OZZY TOOK TO ZOEY VERY WELL....THEY PLAY TOGETHER ALL THE TIME, SHE ACTUALLY BOSSES HIM AROUND, AND HE LETS HER GET AWAY WITH IT TOO. HE WATCHES OUT FOR HER ALL THE TIME. I GUESS I WILL FORGIVE HIM FOR STANDING ON THE TABLE.

Double Doodles!

We had our first litter of Double Doodles born the other day! For those who are saying a WHAT? Double Doodles are also known as North American Retrievers. They are a cross of a goldendoodle & a labradoodle. The mom is a F1B labradoodle and dad is a F1 goldendoodle. They are a combination of Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever and Poodle, all in one! One little girl has a very curly coat, one boy has a very flat coat and the rest are in between. This litter has been planned for a couple… Continue

1st Rally competition for Kona

My little girl did absolutely Fantastic this last weekend at her first Rally competition :) It was wet and rainy, but she scored a 97 out of 100 on Saturday and ended up in Second place! On Sunday the sky's cleared but the ground was really soggy, she ended up with a score of 99 out of 100 for Fourth place and I was so proud!

Buddy, on the other had, got so excited on Saturday with all the rain that he had no focus what so ever! We did make it through the course, but I thought for… Continue
