Does your Doodle know how you feel?

My Labradoodle Houdini was very perceptive, when I was upset stressed or sick he always knew. He would be right by my side to comfort me. I thought it was because we were together for so long and he was very special. When he passed and we got our new doodle a golden doodle named Achilles I did not expect him to be as perceptive. My mother just passed away and needless to say I was beside myself with grief. Achilles was right there. He cuddled with me and stayed right by my side. Is this my… Continue

Photography Lesson: Aperture

Aperture defines the size of the opening in the lens, which in advanced cameras can be adjusted to control the amount of light reaching the film or digital sensor (CCD or CMOS). In combination with variation of the shutter speed, and variation in film speed (ISO), this will regulate the photograph's degree of exposure to light.

A device called a diaphragm usually serves as the aperture stop, and controls the aperture. The diaphragm functions much like the iris of the eye - it… Continue

Photography Lesson: Shutter Speed

The shutter speed refers to the amount of time that the shutter of the camera is open and the film/sensor is exposed to the light.

Shutter speeds on modern digital cameras are generally expressed as 1/x-th of a second. The range of shutter speeds can be expressed as: 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, etc. with each one being a fraction of a second. Each fraction of a second in this series is half the amount of time as the one to the left.

The speeds… Continue

Cruisin'

Does your doodle cruise?Going around the house looking for trouble to get into? Quincy is a terrible cruiser, he goes from room to room looking for something to chew or eat. We no longer have throw pillows on the couch, there hasn't been a roll of tiolet tissue on the roll for months. My floor mats are all missing sections of threads and no piece of paper is safe. I have spent a small fortune in "indestructible toys". He really enjoys the real bones that you get at the pet store but we had to… Continue

Barking

I hope all my buddies out their can help me with this one.

And I am not sure if we discussed this or not. Well when Wilson is outside he does very well but as soon as he see's a car go by or just for the heck of it he will start BARKING and it is not the Bark that says come play with me, I know that bark he gives to his friends. LOL LOL

So my DH is thinking of getting him a barking collar to help reduce the unwanted barking and it is normally early in the morning when he… Continue

Lucy's 2nd Puppy Romp

Lucy turned 12 weeks old last Friday and went to her 2nd puppy romp yesterday. During her 1st puppy romp, over a week ago, she stayed close to us and didn't appreciate other puppies' approaches. This latest puppy romp was very different... well, different enough for us anyway. She went to all the people, no problem. Loved, loved, LOVED the people.. men, women and children, but ran from the puppies in the first 45 minutes of the session. The last 15 minutes she started making play bows to… Continue

Adolescence is here!

Holly is 8 1/2 months, and I think we've officially reached it, here's how I know:

1. Not coming, sitting, or staying when told

2. Barking while in her kennel

3. Not going potty when let outside, instead she likes to eat grass, snow, sticks, roll and jump around etc.

4. Being very bossy with toys, demanding to play by forcing them in your face/lap

5. Way more frequent zoomies accompanied by loud barking and growling

6. Challenging us when we tell her to… Continue
