Saturday, (March 30th) was NATIONAL KITE DAY in Washington DC. The weather was picture perfect and the “doods” were on hand to enjoy the festivities…
As we leisurely strolled to the National…

Wednesday night we had our last Photography class. In two weeks, we move on to Photoshop class with the same instructor, but I really wish this class was continuing. It is fun being a co-ed again and back in class with my husband. I told Megan I was pretty sure we were going to be elected Prom King and Queen of our class and all she wanted to know was if we were the only two in the class and was I even sure John would vote for me. …

I've had family in town this week so I've had to tone my doodle obsession waaaaaay down because they are not dog people. Don't get me wrong, they like Holmes alright, but they're just not into him like I am, of course! So I'm not constantly talking about my doodle even though he is constantly on my mind and I'm not here on DK because I'm busy playing hostess and we're out sight seeing.
Today we took a day trip to San Antonio. It was the first time for any of us to go there and we…

So, time has flown and two pups left today and one more goes tomorrow! How did that happen so fast!
Of course, there is some prep work before they leave--a little trim, the nails clipped and the BATH!
Here are the two families with their pups--the boy with Frosty is 11 and has wanted a pup since he was a very small child--he was one happy kid!…

Hi everyone, and Happy Easter to those who celebrate it. I was just thinking about how fortunate I feel to have found this site and all of you. Some of you may know that I originally got Lola with my now-ex fiancée. Unfortunately that relationship did not work out, for a number of reasons too personal to get into here. My point is that I am a single doodle parent, and there are times when things happen with Lola that I feel like I just have to share. Moments too…

OMD. I don't know how anyone with little kids and dogs that chew things up survive childhood!!! Luckily Rosco doesn't chew things up and Boca is only interested in baby socks (98% of the time put away) and really tiny things and paper and things that seem like they could possibly be paper or could be ingredients for paper. Like wood. Like the gnocchi sized wooden nesting doll my 18 month old dropped from the table as he was playing.
Believe me, I have consciously made an…

I knew this guy wasn't a Maltese when I visited the Moreno Valley, CA to pull a dog we were told was a Maltese mix. However, when I picked him up, he kissed me. That was all it took. There was no way that I was going to send this dog back to that darned cage. Anyway, after being cleaned up, we realized that he is a terrier mix of some type, probably quite a bit of…

In the mail today I received a box with a wonderful "Thinking of You" card telling me to just be sure to take care of myself with all sorts of wonderful goodies to pamper myself including the most required pampering item there is (which of course is chocolate). This box touched me in ways I can never even begin to appropriately express. The reason being, it was from a young college student. We all know that college students are usually living on Raman Noodles and stretching every single…

“Hello my name is Cathy, and I’m a bad Doodle Mom!”
That’s how I felt when Daniel the postman rang our doorbell holding a BarkBox for The Boys. The reason I felt so horrible was because I failed to open last month’s box…
When I brought February’s box downstairs, Harley looked at me as if he wanted…

Last week, the dogs and I were on a long walk. Usually, I am halfway from my car when I realize I forgot my phone and anything else I might need in case of an emergency. The older I get the harder it is to remember things and frankly, Fudge and Vern are lucky I remember to take both of them out of the car before we start walking.
Hey, did you see where she went?…

In books, movies, and on TV, you always hear about the "Crazy Cat Lady" who is old, lives alone, and is surrounded by lots and lots of pet cats. Growing up, our Great-Aunt Ceil was super sweet but fell into this category as she had stray cats, some missing a leg, others an eye, constantly wandering afoot. The entire house reeked of cat so much that your nose wrinkled, eyes watered, and skin itched as soon as you walked in the door. She was the type who allowed her cats to jump on the…

Someboooody is on spring break, so she is able to post mid-day - lucky me! Milton likes having his Momma Dog home too. Well, some dogs have a total aversion to the bathtub, but our doodle embraces it! He likes to cool off and enjoy a nice big gulp from the faucet. Sometimes he even naps in there.…

Some of you mentioned that you didn’t know what a loblolly pine was so I took some time out of my not-so-busy schedule to put together a photo “montage”. I took my happy booty out this weekend and took a few pictures to share in the hopes that my complaints about our springtime pollen would sink in. (Ignore the pretty flowers in the background and concentrate on the horror of Spring in…

Saturday, March 23rd was “National Puppy Day” – and the beginning of “National Puppy Week!”
Why, you might ask, do we celebrate “puppies?”
Because we should celebrate the magic and unconditional love that puppies bring to our lives.…

My sweet Chloe turned two today and started the day with her favorite game, shredding up a plastic bag and then attacking mommy as she was on the floor picking it up. Yes, she still gets into mischief, but I'll take shredding plastic or newspapers any day over chewing on eyeglasses, couches, carpeting and rugs. She has come a long way in two years and taught me a lot along the way. She completed 3 obedience classes and 2 low impact agility classes. She learned some important words and now…

Hard to believe my naughty crazy Chloe is 6 today!
Sadly I have to work the weekend so I guess it's movie watching with dad all day. She would much prefer going to see her peeps at PetSmart! Maybe when I get home she can go for a car ride there.
Time flies by so fast yet some things never change...still can't put the toilet paper on the holder, still can't leave a blanket out on the couch, or a kleenex peeping out of the box, or our cat's 2 gates open, or Myla's red ball…
