Day 2. We're both exhausted and one of us is soaking wet. Silly rain. If she just went potty when we took her out, she wouldn't have to go out in the rain again and again. She's finally warming up to "daddy," and finds his fingers to be tastier than anything else, other than my toes. Won't, ahem, go all the way to the bathroom today; just this morning after midnight. We tried leaving her alone for a whole hour and opened the door to crying...her, not me. I think she's the most…

One early morning Camus met a coyote...and invited him/her to play. 8-0
It was still dark and when an animal ran across a big grassy area I thought it was a dog, but there was no human around. Camus ran after the animal wagging his tail. When a coyote stopped, Camus made a bow and invited him to play. The coyote stopped intrigued and stared at Camus until I grabbed my pup and walked away. I was the only one who got scared, I guess. Silly, silly and friendly Camus!

I have had this blog written for a long time, but I did not want people to think Fudge was sick now. This happened shortly after we brought her home and goes to show that having a sick dog/puppy can be very scary. Since we have lots of new puppy owners, I thought it would be fun to share.
When Fudge was pretty small, she got sick. She stopped eating and drinking, was very lethargic, and I was beyond…

Chewie got bit in the face by a labrador who was off-leash today :(
It happened at our weekly Obedience class. The labrador (name Tara) belonged to a former student of the class and the owner brings her here pretty regularly and she's always off-leash. I've seen both of them a few times before. Chewie even played with Tara 5 minutes before the incident.
5 minutes before class started, I decided to take Chewie for a "warm up". He was heeling nicely when we walked pass Tara…

Why am I here?
Of course first and foremost, I am here because I am a Doodle owner. That's a given, right? But I've been a dog owner for twenty years and have never dipped a toe into a site like this before. So, why now?
Because my Rooney has turned me into someone even I do not recognize. My sister, who has always been the true blue animal lover of the family, can hardly contain her amusement/shock when I prattle on about the latest dog book I've read, or my ridiculously…

So... last night Luna started excessively licking her lips and making hiccupping/gagging noises... and her tummy felt a bit tense. My first thought was "OH NO, it's bloat!". We rushed her to the local vet E.R. (5 minutes from our house!)
After a thorough check (and $170) she was just having an upset tummy (she's a bit of a garbage can - probably ate something on a walk that didn't agree with her). The vet "prescribed" us to go get some Pepcid AC from the drug store and feed…

First of all, I would to like to thank EVERYONE for their positive comments and get well wishes. It means SO SO much to me, you don't even know! I apologize for not thanking each of you personally, I'm still new to this site so I have a few things to still figure out.
Second of all, we got Delaney's urine results and her kidneys are clean! The news was music to my ears, and a huge sigh of relief. We're still waiting on the numbers from the blood sample she gave.
Third of all,…

I can't believe I'm finally going to bring home my doodle in less than two days! My boyfriend and I have been awaiting her arrival for months.
First, we had to agree to get a dog...okay, I had to convince him, and convince him, and perhaps beg.
Once T was okay with getting a dog, we had to decide on a breed. At least we both can agree that little dogs aren't really our style. A labradoodle or goldendoodle sounded like the perfect match.
Then...a breeder. Thankfully,…

Some of you may know that Lyric's 7 month old pup Enso has an owner that is on DK and has osted pics, but he is here now and I thought some may want to see the difference 7 months can make! He is bigger then momma now and is heading for 60 pounds--mom is 50 pounds and dad is 38 pounds--so I guess you never know!
He had all of his puppy hair when he came yesterday and I got him down to just 3/4 of an inch of hair--he was VERY good on the grooming table. He stayed overnight and…

Earlier this month, DH and I went on a holiday in Tokyo, Japan. We're very lucky to be there at the right time to see the gorgeous sakura (cherry blossoms) which only happens for 1 week out of the year.
It was also the first time we travelled overseas since…

IS IT GOOD OR IS IT BAD? THE THINGS THEY EAT… (PART 1)
“Why Does He Eat Grass?” (February 16) was the title of a blog about Harley who I thought might be part poodle, part retriever, and part cow! Since then, Leo has begun to nibble on a blade or two (or seven!) when we roam around the great outdoors. And they both have the nerve to be particular about which lawn to graze as if there are different flavors to choose from. I remember sharing a suggestion from Pet Med
“…buy a…

I can already tell this is going to be a bad season for ticks. We had five this weekend and that was after a walk in the park. They are almost always on Vern, which we believe happens because he likes to do his business in tall grass and if he swims, he gets out of the water and rolls himself, with such joy and abandonment, all the way to the car. I love watching him roll, because he thrusts his legs up in the air and kicks like an upside down frog trying to right himself. …

Hi to all our great friends at Doodle Kisses. The Mayor's Alliance for NYC Pets made the public announcement that Paz is one of the winners of the NYC Pet Photo contest. Paz's winning was made possible by all your wonderful support. Additionally, within the announcement which includes a description of Paz and his work at the Brooklyn Family Justice Center with child witnesses of domestic violence, the Mayor's Alliance provided a link to the website which contains extensive information…

I can't believe that Riley has reached his first birthday. I decided to work from home today and we went for a lovely walk stopping by at the Butchers shop on the way home. A large marrow bone was a gift from the 'nice man' and Riley got his first frisbee at the pet store. He has enriched our lives so much. I remember this time last year being so excited and anxious as I prepared to make that journey by land and sea to Scotland to meet him and bring him home. Each day seemed like a year…

I took Gavin to the vet’s to get his heartworm/lymes test and Revolution meds. First step of course was to have him weighed. I thought there must be some kind of mistake and had him re-weighed. The number on the scale: 73.8 lbs! That is a full 7 lbs more than he weighed at his last check up in October! I was in a state of disbelief. The kind receptionist tried to sooth me by saying “maybe he is just carrying a little extra winter weight.” How could I tell her, that last week I was on…

It's almost time for Brady's lst Birthday .... and I am surprised at all the changes I'm seeing in his 11th month. He has suddenly become a 'real dog' as DH says. He has an absolutely lovely disposition ... loves to please, and is amazingly obedient! He is also a gorgeous specimen .... gains alot of attention from strangers on the street and tons from children! He has just this month mastered jumping into the car without being lifted....but as always, if put in the back seat will…
