I think we got down the crate thing. For the last two nights she just goes in the crate ( okay, I put her in the crate and hold her back and close the door) and lies down without making a sound. The first time it happened, I thought I had gone deaf and was having a stroke because all I heard was a beating heart but then I realized it was her heart thing in the crate. Last night, she only cried to be let out at 2 and slept till 545am. Today, we took an 1.5 nap, she in her crate and I in the…

Today was my 2nd birthday - that means I'm not a puppy anymore! Mom said I should make a birthday wish. Here's a picture of me making my wish:
I know I'm not supposed to tell you my wish, but here it is - "When I open my eyes, I wish that stupid birthday hat would disappear and that Mom will NEVER EVER try to put it on my head…

My title might be a little misleading. Right off the bat, I want to say I am not an expert on men, but I have been married to one for 33 years, so let’s just say I know the difference between one man’s observation skills and my dog’s observation skills. On that point, I am an expert.
Recently, while my DH was away on a business trip, I bought a large, new rug for our bedroom. It had been a long time since we had a rug in our bedroom and our hardwood floor had been bare for…

Sometime Saturday evening, we will be meeting our amazing breeder who has now become a dear friend of mine. She is from IL, but is going to be traveling on the exact day that Molly was able to be released, her eight week old birthday. Molly will leave IL around 7 am and arrive in Ga around 7 or 8 pm at night. We will pick her up, give many hugs and love to our breeder and then travel back home the almost four and half hours to SC.
Long day for Molly. hopefully the little…

After weeks of waiting we finally picked out our new "little boy" last Saturday. It was not easy. How do you choose the dog for you from a litter of 9? There were 3 girls and 6 boys. Most of the girls were already taken when our turn came around. But there were still 5 boys and 1 girl for us to choose from. But after an hour of petting, playing, and cuddling Rhonda, Rachel, and I decided. We chose the puppy known as "black boy". Our name for him is Hero.
Hero is a…

Holey Moley... has it been a ride these last few days. At times bumpy, but always an adventure. The first two nights was hard on all of us. I hated to hear her howl, cry, and whimper and ended up having her sleep with me. Well she slept, I was afraid she was going to fall off the bed so the first night I put a mattress on the floor in the kitchen and we slept there. The second night I lasted 1 hr with her howling then put her in bed with me..as soon as she went to sleep, I put her back in…

So, it is now day 14 since the heat started and Lyric is sooo ready to find a man. My breeder has her for the week and introduced her to Bossa Nova (a.k.a. Leo) today. Leo a gorgeous apricot male with big waves in his hair, but is just 17 months old and up until today, he had no experience with the world of breeding. My breeder was pretty skeptical because he seemed to sniff Lyric with a lot less enthusiasm than expected and then would just wander off. He is also a bit shorter than Lyric and…

Maggie has been with us for a little over a week. She has really been adjusting to her new home rather nicely.
Saturday, she began to have some extra nasal discharge, but appeared to be acting normally. Last night it got pretty bad . Not to be gross, but her whole face is wet and crusty: poor thing! This morning however, she would not eat and she was very lethargic. so off to the vet we went.
He checked her over, and he did not think that it looked as if anything was…

Reputable Breeder qualities: I truly see a difference in professionalism and dog personalities when the breeder is dedicated to their dogs and puppies, meaning they are with them a lot!, They have them preferably in their home.
-Breeder has dogs in home or a kennel that is sanitary, clean, inspected by local/state government etc... - Breeder has experience with dogs/animals for a long time, either with behavior, obedience, showing, horse racing & breeding, etc. Be sure…
