We made the move to the downstairs pen! I also started solid food today and didn't have to ask them twice. Usually you have to coax a little to convince them that eating food is a good thing, but these guys dove in with both feet--literally!
They were a bit unnerved by the move to the big pen after being in their closed-in whelping box, but everyone found the attached crate and are now sound asleep. This is the first time Rio and Mattie have seen the puppies--Rio was so excited! I…

What was life without all this love our Brady Goose has brought? This little guy is my baby. L o v e him so very much! At 6 mos. he is (touch wood) finally house trained. Gotta say, he's been very slow in this area but so quick in others. He is a dream boat at night, just as he was the very first night with us.... quiet as a mouse and doesn't make a sound until he's spoken to in the morning. He has slept in very late ... until 10 a.m. on occasion! Over the summer we had…

Marabelle has started barking at me in the mornings when I don't get her food quick enough. I have let her know that I do not like this behaviour by practising the whole Ceser Milan thing, getting her to do eye contact and sit nicely for her food. any sugestions on what my responce should be when she barks at me for food? ( I don't want her to do this ). Other than that, what a great week, we've had a few accidents, nothing major though. Marabelle is walking on a leash very well, she sits…

Well first trip to a groomer was a success. Alittle pricey but work it. Bailey had a pedicure, bath, girly parts trimmed and her ears done and it was $60.00. I have nothing to compare it to so for now I won't complain...
I did panic at first. When I dropped her off I talked to the groomer about what I wanted and she said OK no prob. Her last words were, I will give her a "BC". which stands for breed cut. So I leave, get home, jump in the shower and start to think..BC?…

Zen will be 8 months old on the 28th of October, and I can hardly believe it! It feels like only yesterday he was a tiny little puppy, and now he is a DOG! I am amazed at how he has changed my life in such a short time. He entered my life 6 months ago when I was grieving a 10 year relationship with a rottweiler mix who had been my best friend for those10 years (almost to the day), and I don't think I knew how much I was grieving. Being with Zen has allowed me to grieve, as I move forward…

I havent been on DK much lately, so I think I must be going through withdrawal symptoms, as I dreamt about Adina last night!
I dreamt that Adina was going from Ann Arbour, Michigan (where I know she does NOT live) to Wawa, Ontario, to pick up a doodle. Because she would need to go via Sault Ste Marie, I suggested that she drive the extra 30 minutes and sleep over at my house (which incidentally is my in-laws house lol) and take a break between legs.
I was…

Hi everyone,
I recently posted this on the breeders forum and have been asked to share it here as well so that people buying a puppy can also have this list...
One of the things I enjoyed in my previous roles (in very different industries) has been to provide mentorship and help to those starting out and learning the industry. While I am still very much a newbie of the labradoodle breeding world, I wanted to take a few minutes to start a post that I think would be very…

I can not believe that Lilly will be 5 months old next week. Tomorrow she is getting her first hair cut at the groomer's and then on Tuesday my baby is getting fixed.
I was in DC for 10 days in grandson land. Lilly and DH spent the time really getting to know each other. Up until then, I was the primary dog keeper and he just had fun with her. They did great. She trained him to listen for the bell to go out and had him walk her everyday. She only had one accident (in the bedroom on…

Every Sunday I send the new owners a set of pictures of all 8 pups, so here are the latest. The new owners do not know yet which pup they will be getting, although they are allowed to tell the breeder which are their three favorites--they will hopefully get one of them. So, I want them to have nice clear pictures to go by. In three weeks, all of the buyers are coming to the house one family at a time to see the puppies and that will give them the best idea of whch ones they like--I am glad I…

My daughter was visiting a friend night before last when she noticed this little dog hiding under the porch. The poor puppy had paint, poo, and burrs all over his coat. She took him home for the night and then to the vet the next morning to see if he was chipped -he wasn't.
Then she went to the do-it-yourself dog wash where she washes her lab, and tried to wash this…

So Ollie and I have been hanging out for a month now, crazy right? He has become my best buddy (as many of you said he would...thank you) and we are doing really well. At 12 weeks Ollie weights a womping 16 lbs! He may be less of a mini and more of a medium, but we are okay with that.
My mom came to visit this past week, and though I was never able to have a dog as a kid, she (now not so) secretly loves dogs. She likened him to her childhood dog, Lonesome. I think he thought…

My groomer is finally back after having surgery and ready to groom dogs again. Sometimes, she grooms both dogs on the same day, but since she is still recovering, she decided to take one on Thursday and one on Friday. I suspect, however, the real reason she opted not to do them together is because I sounded somewhat desperate over the phone and used words like homeless, matted, gross, and disgusting. She probably figured it would be in her best…

So I wanted a nice chair or small couch for our office room to read when I don't want to watch guy movies. DH wouldn't let me get a recliner, he said there's not enough room for it to recline. So he said one night let's go looking. That very night at the end of July-we came home with this small loveseat. He was even kind enough to by…

Well, last night was our second training class. There are only 2 of us. I was early ...as usual. And the other student was late : ( She has a giant schnauzer that is VERY unruly...Her owner has no control over her and she is only 5 months old.
I felt bad for the trainer and her husband. You could see their frustration with her. You could tell she had not worked with the puppy at all. She still was using the retractable leash that they told her not to use or bring to…

Bailey and I had a beautiful walk today at Boone Park. She was not to co-operative when it came to looking at the camera. Out of about 50 pictures these were the best and they are so-so... Don't worry, she was on a leash, love Photoshop!
