Its been a busy last few days, but Saturday morning my DH informed me that after he returned from taking Lucy for a potty he found Oscar had thrown up not one, but TWO socks in his crate. He hadn't yet eaten his breakfast so the socks were pretty dry. This is the 2nd time he's thrown up a sock (or 2!). The first time the entire incident was on our radar, as I had found 1 sock but not the matching other sock. That time we just played a waiting game, for him to either develop symptoms of an…

Pop and Momeaux visited us this past weekend, but their visit prior to that (You can tell how far behind I am with my posting!), they arrived with an extra-special gift.…

When I found out the Assisted Living Facility where my mom resides was raising money for Alzheimer’s Research this weekend, I said “count me in.” Bake sales, car washes, I love a good cause.
I’m still trying not to look surprised when I hear the “come-back” response that always follows,“can you bring the Boys with you?”
I said “of course” and walked away a little deflated because I’m still “working through” accepting that…

If you are a frequent reader of my blog, you probably have been wondering, Where the heck is Goldilocks? Well, I'll tell you where. She has been lesson planning, grading, and, quite frankly, getting much too much little sleep since school kicked back in for the year. Quite sadly, there never seems to be a free moment to do anything anymore. Poor Milt Dog has been missing his momma, but he has been back in daycare, which, you know, he loves!…

What do you think? Can a dog ”change your life?”
I can honestly say I do not need to surf the web to answer this question. I don’t need to do research or check resources. In fact when I asked the question I was really making a rhetorical statement. For me, the answer is a resounding “yes.” I am comfortable basing my answer purely on what I witnessed not too long ago in my own home…

Due to some major differences in rescue philosophy (boy, that's a euphemism), Judy and I have separated from the American Maltese Association Rescue. We have banded together with other rescuers in Southern California to form MALTESE RESCUE CALIFORNIA. We expect to be able to better serve the needs of homeless Maltese and potential adopters in Southern California and parts of Arizona and Nevada. We have applied for our 501(c)3 status as a nonprofit tax exempt entity and expect to have the…

Yesterday, I had one of those moments in life when something smacks you square in the face and you have to pull your head out of the dirt and face reality. I could no longer pretend that my sweet, innocent Doodles wouldn’t hurt a fly and admit to myself that despite the fact that they are domesticated in so many ways, they still have strong hunting instincts that cannot be…

On Tuesday, Beckley advanced to the next phase of his Service Dog Training with his first vist inside of a Store (Home Depot). I walk Bodi at 5 am. Usually the only one we see is a mini-poodle who lives around the corner. His owner is not friendly, so even though the dogs would love to great each other they don't get to. We arrived at the corner at the same time this morning. I held back, Bodi yanked and yanked, and then we continued our walk. A few streets up Bodi and I could see someone walking in the street towards us. I am not afraid of people walking dogs or joggers, but this person was just walking…

Still the sweetest puppy ever! Originally we had wanted a female-we've always had females-but after more thought I decided that I wanted a little boy this time. We made the best decision-he is the most loving little guy. Our females have always attached themselves to my husband-even our Yorkie. This time Jack is totally a momma's boy and I LOVE IT! He had a well check at the vet today and immunizations. Our vet was pretty impressed with him and said that he would take him in a minute…

According the The American Humane Association, October is Adopt-A-Dog Month.
When I was ready to accept full responsibility for a pet, another life, I never – ever thought about adoption. My ignorance to how many dogs were waiting for a good loving home is what led me to a fabricated breeder (puppy mill factory in disguise), where I met 9 week old Harley……

Wow! It's been a while since I posted a blog on here, but honestly things have been really quiet around the Devers household until sunday night when we finally came to sure decision that would would be adding a new doodle to our little "pack". The emotions I feel in about a 5 minute span about the new puppy [we've picked a name too, Willow], Willow, range from so excited that I feel sick, Nervous, Anxious, Upset, Happy, Sad, Confused. You name it, I've felt it.. I'm already in love with her…
