HOLLY BRINGS SMILES WITH HER...

I had the occasion to be waiting with Holly outside a local supermarket while Judy, my wife, did some last minute 2008 purchases. As I waited, I reflected on how wonderful it is to have a Doodle and to have one like Holly in particular.

Virtually every person who entered or left the store either came over and petted Holly or smiled at her as they passed us. She has a seemingly magical quality about her that brings the same smiles to stranger's faces as she brings to our… Continue

School time for Sophie..

Today was Sophie's follow up apointment with the Opthamologist. The Dr. said that everthing looks good. he said that the redness in her eyes will come and go for about another month but should be completly gone in about a month or so. The scars that are slightly visible will fade. She only needs one type of eye drop twice a day instead of two different ones 4xper day.. which is soooo nice. Great news is that I can bring her around other dogs and she is free to play however she chooses.…

Doodle Messes

This is what I found when I came home today:

PINE NEEDLES from our tree!!! I assume it was Thule as usual. They are sooo poky...how could they feel good to munch on?

That was mess #1

Later tonight I smelled something ghastly! Was it the pizza? No way...it smelled too much like dog butt

Clark lifted Cass' tail and took a wiff...nope not Cass.

I reached for Rosco's tail and the underside of his tail… Continue

Can you see me with one of these?

After catching yet another stray dog near my house(AGAIN) a couple of days ago, Clark suggested that I get myself a catch pole ;-)

What do you think? Can you see me running around the neighborhood with one of these???

The local dog catcher was in line ahead of me at the cafeteria today... I gave him my number and he's going to find a catalog for me! tee hee hee… Continue

Oh the Puppy Hood Memories! 5 things I had forgotten.

With next weeks slide show "Home", I went through my old pictures to find the early ones of Jordan. Oh! what fun it was! She was so little. I have some videos, we were watching them this is what I found out...

1: Jordan was smaller than my cats

2: Payton was really good to her

3: I am so glad I got rid of the flowing water dish..Jordan went to town playing with the water.

4: Jordan WAS a nipper! I have the video. I had completely forgotten she would nip.

5:The first… Continue

Saving Stella...Xylitol

Some of you already know this but….

I’m going to try and be brief here. Stella the Wonder dog ate 5 pieces of gum over the Christmas vacation. No big deal right? Well, Xylitol is an ingredient in most sugarless gum now and it can kill your dog if it’s ingested. The new Ice Breakers, Ice Cubes made by the Hershey Co. has some of the highest levels of Xylitol out there. But, it is in all sorts of “sugarless” products. However, one of them, Wrigley’s new “5” gum does NOT contain… Continue

It's a wonderful life!

Hello friends! This is a long one....

I sit here with a ball of fluff lying next to me. I apologize for not writing sooner. It has been a busy three weeks for us.

It's a wonderful life for Sophie girl! Seven weeks ago Don and I brought home Sophie to foster. As many of you know, her surgery was December 1st. the surgery was a success (as of her last appointment when they allowed the cone to come off). We quickly fell in love with her and became "failed foster parents".…

What should I do?

Samantha has come to work with me since the day she came to live with us. We go to puppy classes every week, the dog park, take walks, nap, play ball - get the picture? There is rarely anywhere I go that she doesn't come with me. that is not because I am afraid to leave her but at this stage of my life we love just to stay home. Build a fire, watch a movie, football or whatever. I cook most nights or we bring in but we rarely are not for dinner.

So here is my dilema - if I am out of… Continue

Progress.

Well Lola turned four months old on December 21st. She really has surprised us in the past two weeks. Just when we thought we were going to lose all of our hair she has made some real progress. The most amazing is that she started ringing her bells and she seems so proud that she gets it. She does abuse it a bit in the evenings when we are busy, but I prefer this much more than pee on our floors. Once she got it, she GOT it!

Lola also started obedience training. Today was only her… Continue

Please Don't Let Him Think He's Being Abandoned Again!

On Monday morning, I'll be taking Jackdoodle to the Veterinary Specialty Clinic, where he will finally undergo the intradermal skin testing that I've been putting off for 14 months now. It has to be done; the autoimmune disease that causes his problems only gets worse, and it can become life-threatening without treatment. There is no cure, but hopefully we can manage it and give him a decent life. The best way to do that is to first find out exactly what is causing his flare-ups. And it has to… Continue

15 weeks

So Oliver just recently celebrated his first Christmas! He didn't really understand why wrapping paper was scattered all around our house so early in the morning, but definitely took advantage of the mess! Hopping all around our house with all of his various Christmas toys surrounding him. He definitely had a good Christmas :)

He has gained 3.6lbs. since last week and now weighs 30.8 lbs at 15 weeks! What a big boy!

We haven't been working on tricks like ROLL OVER much… Continue

Marley & me.... I'm the worst mother ever!!!!

Two years ago I read Marley & me. I laughed, I cried (well more like sobbed.) I loved it! From the moment I heard about the movie I have been eagerly anticipating it's arrival in theaters. It's funny how over time your memory dulls a bit. I remembered some things in the book that might not be child friendly, but the movie is rated PG, so I ASSume that those things aren't included. I know the ending is sad, but also know it's very funny and again, ASSume it may be sad at the end, but the… Continue

My sweet discreet pooper

My sweet Rosco is SOOOO dedicated to his poop spot (the two far left and right sections of our backyard) that this morning he trekked ALL the way out there in belly high snow!!! He did his typical brisk walk (as brisk as he can be walking through high snow) back and forth until it was the right moment to hunch over. I should have taken a video or photo it was soo adorable...LOL.

Now if only his pee spot was that far. He practically pees on our cement walkway now that snow is covering… Continue

Doodledozer

Last night I learned what it feels like to have 70 lbs. of doodle blindside you! We were getting ready to go to a dinner theater show last night when I let Yoda out one last time. He didn't come when I called him, and of course I went around the house to find him racing the fence with his buddy the pug next door. When he saw me he started running inside, so I turned back around the corner of the house to let him in.

Suddenly...I'm on the ground. Yes, that's right. My silly dood raced… Continue
