My new gardener's name is Finn. I did not get my garden cleaned up in the fall so all my dead plants are still sitting there. We won't go into why they didn't get done. I am in the basement on the computer as usual. DH is gone out and Cody (my grandson) is running around the house like a madman as usual. It was a typical evening. For those who don't know, Cody is autistic and non verbal. The TV down here is on and I am hard of hearing.

I thought dogs were colour blind! I'm beginning to think that Yankee can see colors. He has always attacked this black doodle named Jackson. He doesn't really hurt him but he throws him to the ground and stands over him snarling viciously. Today, he attacked a black doodle that I thought was Jackson but it turned out to be Brody. When I got Yankee, it was just him and I for almost 2 years. I played with him every day. Now I have Finn and I am wondering if he is special. He can't catch a ball!!!!!

We have a big TV in the basement family room and that is where I like to watch movies. When I just had Yankee, he would lay on the couch beside me or with his head on my lap while I watched DVD's. So I start walking down the trail at the dog park and I meet a nice lady and we start talking. Another lady comes by and joins in our chat. We are having a wonderful conversation when this man comes walking towards us and he has a "chuck it" in his hand and is playing with his dog. He is only a couple of feet away when he decides to chuck a frozen tennis ball (apparently over our heads) and hits the lady right in the head. Point blank shot!

While my family was in Florida in December, we met up with Ann, Mike, Sheba and Duke who were also vacationing in Florida. They are such nice people and I really enjoyed our visit. We met at a dog beach and let the dogs run around and swim a little. Now we tried to get a picture of us and our 4 doodles but of course it was a difficult task.

Well, this has not been the best of vacations but I hope the rest will go smoothly.
First we hit the blizzard in Virginia and got stuck there for 2 days. Then we had several hours of white knuckle driving.
Then my granddaughter got sick and we ended up having to get medical attention. She had an ear and throat infection with the flu. She is on antibiotics and feeling much better. (Thank God). She couldn't eat, had a fever and was vomiting for 3 days.

Sorry, I should have updated this sooner. We did leave Virginia Sunday morning at 5am and had some rough driving for a few hours. We saw the aftermath of the storm. Cars and 18 wheelers in the ditch all over the place. One lady was stuck in her car for 15 hrs.
We took it slow and pushed right through to Florida as they were expecting more snow. We're here and trying to make the best of things as my granddaughter has been very sick since yesterday.

We are stranded in Virginia. We left Canada for Florida at 5am on Friday and here we are in Winchester Virginia for another night. Our plan was to be in Florida early Sunday morning but we hope to be leaving here at that time. Some of you may already know that there was a major snowstorm (at least for here) and the highways were closed in some spots. Accidents and cars and tractor trailers in ditches all along I85.

I can't believe how beautiful the weather is considering we had snow a couple of days ago. I have been at the dog park every day. I took my camera today to try & get some good photos. I couldn't stand the cone on Finn anymore. He was miserable and so was I so I got a pair of my grandson's underwear and put them on him. I had done this with Yankee before so I knew it would work. I wasn't sure that Finn would keep them on because he is a feisty little guy. Well he is keeping them on during the day but for the last 2 mornings we found the underwear on the floor. I find it very funny but I guess Finn likes to sleep commando.

Well Finn made it through his neutering just fine. His baby teeth actually fell out on their own over the weekend so no teeth pulled. The vet tech told me that he would probably sleep most of the evening but NO such luck. He hasn't slept a wink and has been home for 6 hours. I can't get him to settle down. Yankee isn't helping one bit. He is trying to coax Finn into playing and I keep reprimanding him to no avail.
I foolishly thought Yankee would sense that Finn wasn't up to snuff…

When I was at the vet's a couple of weeks ago, she noticed his adult canines were coming in beside his baby teeth. She said we'd check it on the next visit to see if the baby teeth came out. Well they didn't come out and his gums are all swollen. This is causing his adult teeth to come in crooked. So, they must be pulled and while he's under, he's getting neutered. He's just 5 months so I feel kinda bad but she said it has to be done ASAP so he goes in on Tuesday morning.
