There is a lot of information on dangerous substances, food and situations in the danger group. A review once in a while on things like the recent posts on mulch and chocolate is great. In the group you'll find information on grapes, onions and all manner of things. Looking at the listings occasionally, and adding any information, will help us all stay on top of things.

Luca will be 2 on Sunday. It seems like yesterday that I picked him up at the airport and yet it is also forever. He is my wise listener, faithful companion and an occasional PITA. I don't know what life would be like without him and Calla anymore. It's wonderful to have them and a place like DK where people understand how I feel. I hope the sun shines for him on his birthday since it looks like we'll have rain til then.

This looks like an interesting bottle top waterer for dogs eliminating bowls and other devices. Inexpensive too. Bed , Bath and Beyond always has coupons and accepts any date on them.

So this weeks purchase was a beautiful bed at Costco. Just $19.99 and I think it's beautiful. It's very stuffed and it has cedar in it. Despite the fact that Luca chewed off some of the piping when he was a puppy, the old bed has worn quite well
The new bed on the right and an old Costco bed on the right.

I found what I think is a great sale on Zuke's treats. The mini natural treats, for instance, are $5.99 for a one pound bag and the other treats are on sale as well. Also, there's a discount code for 13% on your order.

I put some dog cartoons in an album. It's easier to send folks there than to transfer them here so:

Good news. The EPO arrived. It is as stated. I got 5 bottles for the price of 2. They are mfg in NY state but Karen might point out that I don't know where the ingredients came from and she'd be right. After I posted and some people had ordered I became slightly anxious that it was too good to be true and I read, after the fact that customer service at Puritan's Pride was not good. As of now though all is fine. I hope the doodles will take them!

I just came across a sale on evening primrose oil . I spent under $10 for 500mg capsules, #500 with free shipping. When I went to the site in a different way I could have spent significantly more. Here is the link:…

I am often amazed at the acuity of a doodle nose. Luca can smell balls when I hide them even if he can't see them. Sometimes I put a ball away, up high and behind things, yet he'll often smell it out and bark until I retrieve it. Sometimes a ball goes missing and I can't see it but I know if he's "telling" me it's there it is. I actually had to put chicken wire behind a radiator cover because he purposely would get his ball stuck under the radiator and then "call" for help. The other day he…

Tonight's TV news reported the first case of swine flu infecting a dog in the US. A dog in New York state got swine flu from his owner. So far there are no known cases of dog to human transmission. Signs of infection include fever, lethargy and cough. These are the same signs as dogs get with canine influenza. Only lab testing can distinguish the two. Cats & ferrets also get swine flu. If you have flu you should try to avoid transmitting it to your pets in the same ways you would try to…

The only good thing to come out of this contest is that the winner said all the money would be donated to charity. This is what the sponsor said, which addresses some of the issues people raised at the time.

DK members have said they have not gotten surprise visitors with doggy doors
(door flaps) .This is an e mail I just received from a friend.....
"Could you imagine coming home from work
to find this tiny creature napping on your
couch with your dog?
Guess who came home for dinner?
It followed this beagle home, right through
the doggy door. This…

When I got home this rainy afternoon, I let my dogs out into the fenced in yard. Calla found a squirrel partway up a tree and Luca soon joined in the "game". For some reason the squirrel did not go up the tree but circled around the trunk. The dogs managed to catch the squirrel and ran off shaking it; not listening to anything I shouted to get them to stop. Soon they had the squirrel under a hedge and it was crying out. When I managed to grab Calla she had a bloody face--ugh. After putting her…

Well, what to do on a rainy, hot and humid day. Play indoors with your dogs and write about it. Much better than doing paperwork or other chores. Luca loves to catch balls and he started to do this when he was about a year old, I think. He always loved to chase them. Calla, now 7 months just ran after him. She never attempted to catch a ball when I threw it to Luca. Well, today i gently lobbed balls from a short distance practically into her mouth and, by jove, she caught the ball several…
