Santa - I need a fence!

We had a very eventful morning. It is pouring down rain - buckets and buckets. I let Bodi out this morning and he took off. Normally if it is raining he does his thing and sprints back to the house as fast as he can. I was walking around the yard and neighbor's yard in my nightgown and bare feet looking for him. He was two doors down checking out the new neighbors. This boy KNOWS he is in trouble. He had to go right to the bathtub. He stood obediently for his bath…

My two doodles are getting an e-collar from Santa!!!

I write this after reading Laurie's precious tribute to our "Lucky Dogs" and how very fortunate we are to have these characters in our lives and of course us in theirs. However, I have mixed feelings about how lucky my two are going to be feeling after my package of dual/remote controlled, waterproof e-collars comes in the mail.

I find that when I mention this to friends and co-workers, they look at me like I have just committed euthanasia with my bare hands!

My children just had a… Continue

Lucky Dogs!

Yesterday, I woke up to the news that Rudy had died.  Rudy was a dog I wrote a blog about and he touched many of our hearts.

His owners decided they wanted to travel after their kids had moved out…

Homeless summit + news article + NPR = Community Angel Tree project

We had this huge summit in November to discuss about suburban poverty and homelessness here in Pittsburgh. Local major news paper wrote the article, and NPR had segment in regard to this summit.

A group of local YMCA staff read this article and listen to the NPR, and was absolutely shocked to know the numbers of homeless families we have in our school district.…

Charlie Brown is 3 today!

Today is Charlie's 3rd birthday.  When I woke up this a.m. to his sweet little face on my pillow, I could not help thinking about the first time I saw his face - he was only 4 weeks old.  I found out his birthdate was the same day as we lost our standard…

The Cone of Shame

Toby was neutered on Monday. I felt really bad for him but I know it is the right thing to do as I don't intend to breed him. Procedure went well and vet even said that dogs don't even have to wear the cone of shame as they don't really bother the incision . Well.... I went to pick him up and he looked like a satellite TV dish . Of course my dog ( "this is the worst dog ") would need one. And they even said two weeks! Two !! He already ate through the first cone after day one so had to take him… Continue

SURPRISE HOLIDAY GIFT

It’s Tuesday night, DH is at a meeting, and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a doodle!

I’m upstairs trying to get caught up with household “stuff” when the doorbell rings.  Little Alex is standing on the porch (along with his taxi driver mom) bearing a surprise holiday gift for The Boys!

Together, Alex and his mom made something “doodlely” special for Harley & Leo’s Christmas tree.

Alex insisted on opening them and…

OLDE TOWNE PET RESORT

With two (or was it three) consecutive days of bad weather last week, we were literally inside the house 90% of the time. Without our knowledge or consent cabin fever seemed to move in with us. Harley was stealing socks, and tearing up fabric sheets before I could get them in the dryer. Leo was jumping up on my back biting and tugging on my sweater sleeves (don’t ask – I don’t know why either).

It dawned on me the other day (as I searched hours for…

Happy Holidays from Camilla and Darwin!

Finals are over, it's getting cold (REAL cold!) and the holidays are here! Things could not be better. I thought I'd post an small update on Darwin, and add our holiday cards for this year.

First off - I will make an admission. This semester I got super busy, and for the first time, Darwin became quite matted. I am usually very diligent about brushing him, so this is the first time he's been matted to this level. I feel terrible about it, and I really didn't even realize how…

Amazon Reviews - are they truthful?

I was asked to write a review on an order for Vanilla ears.  I had been quite disappointed with these ears and so indicated that in the feedback.  However, Amazon bounced back the feedback with the following statements...

Thank you for submitting feedback on your Amazon Marketplace order. We regret to inform you that your recent feedback has been removed. We highly value customer input, however we occasionally…

Snow Day!

On Tuesday, the dogs and I had a snow day.  It wasn’t as monumental as when my kids were young and we would wait by the TV or radio to see if school was closed, but it was still a snow day.  When John left for work, or escaped, as I like to call it, he said there was no snow coming down.  By the…

IT’S TOO COLD OUTSIDE

Hi everybody, it’s me, Harley. While Doodle Mom piddles around the house today…

HARLEYS QUESTION copy

Perhaps my furrends can help me figure this one out…

What would possess an animal of ANY KIND, (I’m talking specifically about a particular doodle) to“want to” play in 30 degree…

Bodi is a trendsetter!

My mother and her friends make scarves, hats and head bands/ear warmers for the first graders at my school.  When I got them all out today to do a count, my son put a head band on Bodi.  He is still walking around with it . . . hours later!  I think he is…

LET IT SNOW

That’s right! I’ve finally arrived, I’m here – ready for winter, excited about the holidays. The house is decorated, I’ve started listening to Christmas music, so “let it snow.”…

Lyric's pups are 4 weeks old--already!

It will be tough to say goodbye to these darlings---but one will be just a few miles from me at my good friend's house--YEAH!! The pups have made a successful move to the downstairs pen and are enjoying the freedom of a bigger space--they can see my dogs now and hear all the noises of the kitchen, etc--so far, they are just fine with it....in a few days, we will gate them into the kitchen and let them run!

Here are their 4 week portraits--it was a snowy day here today but so cozy with…

The Christmas Tree

After much reflection and agonizing whether to do a tree this year or not with my now six month old Labradoodle Toby in residence , we opted to do a tree - just an artificial one and not a real one . The temptation will be great as it is without adding the whole real deal factor. I know how he loves to chew on the tree branches outside and attack my pink flowers. So for the first time in 20 years we went with artificial - with built in lights - whole lot easier . I only caught him in the tree… Continue

Playing Favorites!

My daughter is at it again.  She seems to never miss an opportunity to tell people that I prefer Fudge and Vern over my own kids.  At Thanksgiving, she launched into a story about the Doodle Christmas card and can’t seem to let it go that I said ONE time I needed a family portrait done with just John, Fudge, Vern, and me.…

Thanks DK and Augdiggitydog

I was so darn pleased to win a prize from donating to Doodle Kisses. When I donated, I didn't consider the possibility of winning.

It arrived in the mail the other day.. and we couldn't be happier.

I sent a few pictures- probably too many :) of Chester and his favourite toy ( a stuffed bear). I also sent email describing his personality ( yes, I am insane).…

HOW WAS YOUR WEEKEND?

How was your weekend? Mine was “all over the place.”

Leo’s upset because I won’t stay outside furever in the blistering cold and play with him.

Harley’s “pissed” because he thinks I abandoned him (which I didn’t) on Saturday.

I did nothing wrong, but “what the doodle”, let me give you my weekend wrap-up.

I accepted an invitation a while back, to attend a Holiday Craft Show Saturday. It was located mllions of miles away, so I…

Rosco, Boca, and their kids...

Just a little photo update...

We went to a wedding with a 'plaid' dress code :-)

Rosco has a hard life because sometimes his mom gives him a bath.

One day the kids made a 'bed' on the living room floor and Rosco immediately helped…
