One thing I was adamant about regarding Milton's party invitation was a start and end time for the party, 1:00P.M. - 4:00P.M. If you know me, I like to arrive to events late, as late as politely possible, and leave early, as early as politely possible. I love having friends, but I can only flit around like a social butterfly for a brief period before I start to descend!
That being said, I really wanted Milton's party to…

There are oodles and doodles of stories I could write about this week, but since Thursday, (April 11th) is NATIONAL PET DAY, I wanted to heighten awareness of the thousands of pets who die daily in shelters throughout this country.
National Pet Day was founded by Celebrity Pet Lifestyle Expert & Animal Welfare Advocate …

Perhaps I should have only posted this in the Therapy Group but here goes....
Fozzie and I visit a near by hospital on Monday nights and have been doing so for 3 years now. It is one of the major highlights of every week. Fozzie knows what is in store for him as soon as I turn onto the final road to the enterance doors. When I snap on his red collar and leash (his uniform) his tail pops up higher, there is a bounce in his walk, and he heads for the nearest person who he is sure…

Let's just say that Milton's birthday party was the very first party that we have ever thrown, other than our wedding! Neither Jeff nor I was prepared for all the work that goes along with putting on a party. When I was stressed out, people would remark, "Why are you so nervous? It is just a party for dogs." Well, of course, it was a party for dogs, but those dogs didn't just walk here on there own; they came with all their human friends! …

YIPPEE!! I made it to doodle Socialite!!!!!! (insert falling confetti)
Here are my observations since joining DK in January -
* As I'm stacking up doodle points, I'm noticing other things stacking up as well such as - papers I have to check, books to be read and put away (still have snowman books on the shelf in the classroom), data to record and analyze, laundry to take care of and dishes…

I have a confession. I forgot Peri's 4th Birthday. It was Saturday. I got a Facebook update from her breeder with all of these photos of Peri and her siblings saying "Happy 4th!" to them and that's how I remembered. What a bad doodle mom. I always said I would never let the dogs take a backseat to the kids but look what's happened now. Ugh. To make up for it, she got a big Zuke dental chew and lots of toppings (beans and carrots) on her food that night. I felt so guilty I took three…

Trav and I go to a nearby park most mornings to play ball. I take two Chuckit balls, throw one and when Trav gallops back and drops it, I throw the other one for him. I've had some humiliating public experiences with the Chuckit launcher, which I'd really rather not discuss, and this is our more gracious, less destructive, adaptation of that game. Trav stays in motion all the time. When he starts returning at a walk or slow trot, I know he's had enough running and jumping and we…

First of all, Jeff and I are not major music connoisseurs... I listen to what is "hot" on the radio, and Jeff, quite frankly, I don't know what he likes. We're easy. For Milton's first birthday party, I knew we just had to have the "right" music - a doggie playlist. I scoured the Internet to find the best tunes that would just scream doggie bash. Here is what I came up with:
1. B-I-N-G-O - The Sing-Along…

After a very courageous three year battle with cancer, kidney and liver issues, Rusty is in a better place tonight. Because of his unfailing determination to overcome everything that life dealt him, we had a lot more time with him than we could have possibly hoped for.
Throughout all of his battles, he never lost his zest for life and was always the happiest, friendliest and most loving companion anyone could hope for.
Words cannot express the love that we have for him…

Yesterday, April 7th, was the big day for Milton! Our goldendoodle is now officially one-year-old! I woke up on the morning of Milt's birthday just a little bit sad that our teeny tiny puppy is now a massive 62-lb. dog. Life flies. Jeff and I were incredibly thrilled to celebrate Milton's birthday (Doodle Palooza!) with some of our closest friends, 24 humans and 13 dogs!…

Luca had a great afternoon since it was warm, he found a first class stick, his favorite ladies were in attendance and he is feeling fine.
He decided he is ready to model his healing tail, which will look better with time. He held the stick carefully with his dew claws, who said they serve no purpose.…

Even though Easter Sunday is behind us, with an invitation from the LEESBURG CANINE COUNTRY CLUB (through Northern Virginia Pet Events) we took The Boys for a picturesque ride to Purcellville, VA to meet Peter Rabbit at EASTER’S GONE TO THE DOGS 2013! ……

I have to go to a Baby shower in a little while. Anyone else hate showers as much as me? Plus, I have to leave Quincy and the DH on the first warm day of spring to sit in a room with a bunch of women and ooh and aah about baby stuff when I would much rather be tossing around a ball or taking a walk with the boys. I thought about bringing Quincy, but don't have the nerve to…

This might be the cutest thing Lola has ever done. I'm working from home. I have my shoes and jacket on and leash nearby. Then I get an email for work that I really need to respond to. I keep telling Lola, please be patient, just give me a few minutes and then we will go for a walk. She is being so good, sitting next to me and patiently watching me type. After a while she starts to get impatient and pawing at the screen a little bit. I tell her, yes, Lola, almost done. Finally, she…

Wednesday, John and I spent the entire day in Philadelphia, PA, attending a Photography Seminar with Scott Kelby. We had a wonderful time, but the highlight of our trip was we met up with Cheryl of Cheryl and Finnegan. Who knew all those years ago when I joined DoodleKisses, that this online dog website, would allow me to meet some members in person? First, the cruise and now, a seminar. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Cheryl was a little late, and we saved her a seat. Unfortunately,…

For those of you that have been following Ginny's (and Lyric's) litter of puppies, I am the proud new mom of Cisco (formerly known as Copper). I picked him up today, and so far he has been great. Ginny did a great job with him.
It has been a busy day of meeting my niece and 3 nephews that live upstairs, and playing in the backyard. As you can see from the pics below, he gets tired…

I watch a lot of TV and The New Adventures of Old Christine reruns are some of my favorites. I have seen every episode probably three times because it comes on when I am eating my lunch, but that doesn’t stop me from laughing throughout most of the show. On one of the episodes Christine forbade her brother and best friend from hooking up and for some reason “I forbid it,” has now become my new favorite catch phrase. …

Our Milton has spent time away from home at both Downtown Dog (his daycare) and at Momeaux and Pop's house over the holidays. This past week though, Jeff and I spent a few days with my family in Florida for Easter, and the Milt was packed up to his good buddy Hops's house for his first doggie friend sleepover. It was an all-day, all-night bash for those too!
Hops is the lovable Aussiedoodle of my very good friend, Thuy. …

Not often are we privileged to meet a person who epitomizes greatness, but I was so honored some thirty odd years ago, when I met someone whom I would describe as a “righteous” man. I am not talking about DH (although he is wonderful!), I’m talking about his father, my father in law – Mr. Lee James Bennett, Sr….…
