I hope there are many gardeners among us doodle owners. After all we must be nurturers. We can share information on what's safe for dogs, how to keep them from destroying plantings and all green related things.

My favorite summer annual for sunny locations is Profusion Zinnia. It is not as showy as its larger cousins, but it is also not subject to mildew, rust, etc. It never ever needs to be deadheaded and does not even look shaggy when you don't. You get masses and masses of blooms until frost with almost no effort. It comes in white, shades of orange and yellow and a new one that is sort of orange and red. You can plant all one color or some of everything as they all go together. It looks great with a Mexican Feather Grass( no flowers, but lovely long seed heads that move in the wind and extremely durable) as an accent.

A nap is vital. Plant something easy--the easy annuals tend to be something like impatiens but not New guinea varity because they need even more water than regular ones. Snapgragons, annual black eyed susans, and things like that are pretty if you want a mixed arrangement. Plants that require little water are great but the ones I can think of off hand are things like lavender, and yarrow. Here's a nice reference on annuals for dry, sunny spots.

Tonight I started cleaning out the front planter (with no flowers) because there's cat poo in it. I then covered the area with card board...until I get something planted. Progress is sooooo slow! But I got a nap in today and was happy to get even THAT done!

No doubt, in a place like that there will be beautiful things to see, anyhow.

You're probably right F. They probably will no longer be in bloom. Oh well, it will still be fun to walk the trails again and see what else is in bloom.
Thank you Rose!!!

If it's anything like here no peonies will be there.

Thanks for the nice compliments ladies! We're hoping to go back to the Arboretum later on in June as we are going to attend a romp in the Ann Arbor area. Does anyone know how long peonies bloom? I wonder if there will be any blooms left by June 19th...I hope so!
