Maggie Mae...or anyone who lives in flea areas:

We are going to be in and out of CA with Mickey now. LV doesn't have any fleas/ticks but I know that Thousand Oaks, CA does. Any other advise on flea/ticks as he is mostly an indoor dog except for play.

Anyone else who has used Flee Free or any other product successfully? Since it came up so fast I feel the need to take care of this before we take off in less than a week so a quick response would be most appreciated. Thank you from us and Mickey!

I have used flea free since November of last year. I put it on Maggie's food in lieu of the water since I toss out dirty water. She has never had ticks or fleas (I'm knocking on wood as I write this) and I have taken her for walks in fields and areas where there are ticks. Maggie is only 19 lbs (she's a mini) and I'm just now finishing the 8 oz bottle from November! I also purchased the all natural spray from Healthy Food for Pets website. I use it on both of us. I have been pleased with the results of both thus far. I didn't want to have to put chemicals on Mags either.

I would also like to know about the flea free food additive for dogs and if it works. I live in Florida so fleas are everywhere. Presently I am using Frontline Plus but I cringe everytime I put it on my doodle! Thanks!

I would rather use natural remedies if at all possible.

I have been using Flea Free for flea/tick preventive. Has anyone else used this product and what has been your experience. I have been using it for 5 months and Maggie has had no adverse reactions. I would like to know if this is ALL I need to be using or should I incorporate something more with this treatment.

This is a great group. My vet is very into natural remedies, holistic healing, raw food, titer testing and just good plain common sense.

What a good idea Kate... my dogs eat raw and I always have a bag of dry kibble (grain free) available - as a matter of fact they get 5-6 with their nightly
'turn down' service! Ha. I have one dog who treats the tripe like crack - it was oneof the only things I could get her to eat with any regularity when she was going through morning sickness.

Just thought I would share - I know that I saw this link somewhere on Dk but couldn't find it again so I did a seach and found it. This site rates some kibble on ingredients.

This group sounds like exactly what I need. I want my pup raised naturally, in a safe and secure environment. (Or as close as I can get with my family:)

I live as naturally as possible, even down to the green cleaning products we use. I am always interested in the most natural way to cure something for us.

It makes me sad that we had to use antibiotics for Mickey when we got him because he had such a bad case of giardia. It took three doses to rid him of it. And recently, he had an eye infection and the vet gave him antiobiotic salve to put on his eye. It took two doses a day for weeks to finally rid him of the green puss that was coming out of his eyes.

If anyone has any alternative solutions to the green puss, I am definitely interested! It just kills me to use antiobiotics on him and for such a long period of his life so far.
