Good explanation and probably both your pH strips and water are stale : )
F, yes, you are probably starting to feel better already~
J, I'm not sure what is going on. Maybe my testing paper as gone bad or something. I use the distilled water on my carnivorous plants as they can't tolerate the minerals in tap water. They have been doing fine with this distilled water so I think it really is distilled but I can't explain the ph issue. I found this info on a site though:
Pure water has pH 7, so still, freshly distilled water should have a pH of 7.0. However, interaction with the atmosphere allows carbon dioxide to dissolve into it, forming carbonic acid. As a result, agitating the water or allowing it to sit for a while will leave you with an aqueous solution that drifts down in pH. Because there are no natural buffers in distilled water, the pH can go down as low as 5.0.
Maybe my distilled water is just stale. :)
I did just use some ACV while making Gazpacho--yum. No doubt it will cure me of all that ails me : )
Ricki - if it's real distilled water it should be pH 7.. if it's mineral water though then it won't be. Hopefully they're not defrauding you with tap water!
You probably thought you were going to miss out on a hokuming.
I just stopped by because I saw ACV roll by and wanted to make sure I did not miss anything.
F-I know when I tested my water and it was so acidic I thought for a minute I had ACV coming out of my tap! LOL
J-I just tested my bottle of distilled water and it is even more acidic than my tap water! Now I'm wondering if they just filled the bottle with tap water and sold as distilled! :(
Most treated tap water is around 5.0-6.0 (I taught Chemistry last year.. was annoying when we were comparing pH levels!). Distilled/bottled water would be around 7 though. Human blood is 7.4. Not to worry, though! Both your mouth and pancreas produce bicarbonate (a base) to neutralize acidic things in your food and drink.
@Ricki, it's not necessarily so that around body pH ideal. The body does a good job of regulating pH , which if memory serves is 7.4. That water sounds very acidic. Are you sure your test is accurate? And what about all that ACV :-)
My saliva is around a 7 so relatively speaking my water is quite a bit more acidic.
