Just wanted to give an update on Lucy, our F1b standard labradoodle puppy. She turned 8 weeks old last Friday. We've had her home for 1 week today. She's learned 'sit' and does them consistently (with or without treats). Her 'hurry, hurry' (to go pee) is down pat too, but her 'busy, busy' (for poo) doesn't seem to compute. We're working on 'down', and 'leave it', but those seem to be difficult concepts for Lucy right now. Her 'off' is really good. The first few days after her arrival she…

I was so prepared...Princess party hat (with streamers!), princess dishes (for my little ones) and a glittery red number 1 candle. The day was sunny, if frigid, and we were going to party with lots of presents we had been buying for a few weeks. Then, while at a pre-season baseball drill session for my son, my car window was shattered and a thief got away with my purse (opted to leave it in the car as with four children, all the coats, the baseball gear and the fact that we would be moving from…

I've noticed that the residents at the Veteran's Home where Lucy and Sophie go have a terrible time with Sophie's Name. They will ask me her name and I'll say "Sophie" and they will say "Oh Soapie", and I'll say "No, Sophie", trying to be really careful. Finally I'll just give up and say yes Sophie! It happens every time we go. Today this led to one man getting into a conversation with me about "soaping" her up when I give her a bath. And what fun that must be. He just kept talking about…

Hi, Rosco here. You wouldn't know it from looking at me...because I'm so beautiful I should be a model, but I'm quite the athlete. An agility star really (IF my mom would get her act together and enroll me in the sport, anyway).
See how gorgeous I am?
This is me after my grooming today:
THIS is my sister Thule--quite the dainty…

The lottery was up to $160 million right before Christmas and my husband bought tickets for us and for all our relatives for a gift.
i asked him, what would you do with all this money?? Well....he said the usual, give some to his brother, his cousin...but then, he said something I really loved.
He said, "I would open a shelter for pets that are unwanted....and keep them and take care of them, and you can run it!!".
Hmmmm, I think I love him a lot!!!!

Today, January 3rd, our 'little' Phoebe turns one year old. She has brought much joy and happiness to our family and is truly my best friend. To be honest, though my original intent when I purchased her was to help ease my children's difficulties with our move, Phoebe has become my confidante and companion far more than the children's. This move has been very hard on me and she is the epitome of fun and goofiness--how can you not help but smile when your doodle is scratching at your gorgeous…

Well, he passed. I really want to thank all my Doodle Kisses friends who have given me such great advice over the past couple of months through the training. I listened well. Took him to the store this morning and we walked around for an hour, greeting all kinds of people. Then I took him to the Agility Class that was being held at the place where he was tested and made him lay quietly watching the other dogs in class. I think he was pretty well tired out, so there was no nonsense during the…

Hi everyone,
I am fairly new to doodle kisses and I just wanted to say how much I enjoy everyones questions and comments. I have a 6 mo. old Labradoodle that is about 20 inches in height and 30 lbs. The vet told me last week that usually by 6mo. they do not get much taller but they start to fill out more now. Did anyone elses doodle get much taller after 6mo?

I am often amazed at the acuity of a doodle nose. Luca can smell balls when I hide them even if he can't see them. Sometimes I put a ball away, up high and behind things, yet he'll often smell it out and bark until I retrieve it. Sometimes a ball goes missing and I can't see it but I know if he's "telling" me it's there it is. I actually had to put chicken wire behind a radiator cover because he purposely would get his ball stuck under the radiator and then "call" for help. The other day he…

Okay, we've gotten through the hols. We had both girls home, boyfriends, mother in law, but not doodle yet. L'il Sheila is doing well though, growing and playing at Logcabin Labradoodles with her mom Bindi and her littermates. I'm so happy. All the puppies are doing well and I have met two of the owners of siblings of Sheila, Kim and Abby. We plan to stay in touch to see how our puppies are doing, growing and developing. We are all from different states, this labradoodle thing isn't just local,…

Happy New Year everyone! Penny finally got her first taste (literally) of snow last Tuesday. When she first went out in it, she wasn't as giddy as I've seen lots of dogs in the past, it was snowing great big flakes and she just took it in her stride as if she'd seen it all before. It wasn't until the next morning after we'd had an inch or two that she really got to work, grabbing her favorite punctured ball and zooming round the back yard...eventually I managed to get some pix:…
