Hi everyone,
Murphy here. I had such a wonderful day on Sunday. I wish you all could have been here. It was our Mardi Paws parade. (Mom says it’s a fund raiser for the Humane Society.)
Every year before I was in the parade. (One year we even won..I got dog supplies and a free bath and some grooming stuff and Mom and the Krewe got $50! She said that made me the best son ever and that I bought drinks for everyone! ) This year we just watched. We got there early and I met…

Tonight, we had a vet appointment for annual shots, etc. for Fudge and Vern. My DH got home early from work to help me take both dogs. Upon arrival, Vern saw himself in the mirror they have in a bookcase in the entryway and promptly wet himself. He then started barking his fiercest bark which is a cross between a deep, low bark and a beagle howl. It is always impressive when the receptionist has to come out with a mop and place a cone over the wet area made by your dog, before you have even…

My Darwin has been missing for a while now. His very reasonably sized self disappeared gradually, leaving a giant, massive fluff in his place. It was quite disturbing to see him slowly slipping away. And who on earth does this puffy monstrosity think he is?
Don't get me wrong, giant fluffs can be very cute and soft. They attract a lot of admiring attention, and they look amazing when the wind blows through their luscious locks. But they are a pain in the butt to brush and…

Sweet boy, you thought we were just going to visit Auntie Summer at the Wet Nose Oasis to get your normal cookies and pets and love from everyone. You thought you would get to get your sniffs in at the kitty cats. I didn't mean to squeal on you about your teeth and your tarter. I was just going to show her to see what she thought. I didn't know she was going to run and get her dental cleaning supplies. Me and my big mouth, I know that is what you are thinking...
You were such…

I was very apprehensive about Storm's first visit to the dog park. He was just learning to not bark at strangers on our nearby walking trail. At home, Storm barks at all our neighbors, and the mailman. I would have to plan this thoroughly.
I decided to take Storm alone. On a monday. Late morning, right during luch time. When it rained a little. Thinking, there would be no one at the dog park.
Okay, there were 2 other people there with a total of 5 dogs off leash. And 4…

Guinness is no longer a puppy! The little Dood turned two on Thursday. He and I celebrated...alone...yesterday. We spent the afternoon together and I think he really needed that one-on-one attention. We had a great time. We went to Pet Smart (one of his favorite places) and I let him smell everything...absolutely no heeling required for his birthday celebration. We picked out a few new toys which will be "history" by the end of the weekend. Then we had to go to the specialty dog store…

With Earthquakes, tsunami's and a virtual torrent of news battering our news screens in real time it's hard to absorb all the horror which is why I find myself checking in here from time to time. A sanctuary where I can focus on new friends and all things Doodle. My passion for dogs, and these dogs in particular started when I was a small child. My first puppy was a Doodle type. We called him a Terroodle as we didn't know who his daddy was. He had that curly poodle coat and the…

This is really only tangentially related to doodles, although my little furry dood was the trigger for yesterday's exercise where I found myself reflecting that there is a certain body of knowledge that appears to be genetically linked in humans, riding in on the Y chromosome. There's stuff that it seems like guys are just born knowing! (I've heard guys say similar about us females too ... usually in relation to laundry, for some reason. *grin*)
So I was…

I thought this was a very touching story. What are the odds of a guide dog losing it's sight? I think it is amazing that another dog could be taught to help both dog and master!

It's official; Mr Bits has a forever family. Next Thursday they are driving from Louisville, KY to Atlanta (about 7 hours) to pick him up and take him to his forever home. We have been corresponding and I have been sending them pictures. The family is completely smitten.
I took these pictures with my cell phone so they are a bit grainy. Bitser loves to snuggle under blankets in our bed, but this night he wanted to snuggle next to Harlow's bed.…

I have been absent from DoodleKisses lately with a crazy work schedule and spending the free time that I do have camping and hiking and walking and whatever else makes my boy, Cooper, happy....however....I had to pause this morning, as I received a wonderful email to share with the DoodleKisses world on the wonders of fostering!
I fostered a very cool, very big, very red dog for the DRC back in late January, early February. I only had him a bit more than a week before he went to his…

Thank you, thank you thank you!!! All of you here on DK have been so wonderful and supportive over the past two months.
It was so nice that even though I have never met any of you, you were there for me. Having leukemia is not something anyone could say is lucky however since I learned I have it, I have realized how truly lucky and blessed I am.
My appointment at Sloan Kettering yesterday went very well. The Dr. said that all of my numbers are in the normal range. I can go back…
