Always something new with a puppy. Sheila has discovered she can JUMP!!! My DH was taking a turn w/ her on HIS couch during basketball this weekend and all of a sudden my face was covered w/ fluff. Just like that, Sheila decided she had had enough of being lifted on and off couches, and mommy looked TOO RELAXED, so she ran and pounced. My DH was in stitches and so was I after Sheila and I got over the shock. Now when my daughter played volleyvall and had a really good vertical jump, they…

Today we took Abel to his first day of beginner training at Petsmart. I wasn't planning on taking him to Petsmart cause I really don't know how good they are but I talked to the trainer and the hours worked the best for us. Plus, Abel is a pretty good puppy (well he is nine months old now), and we just need to work on him controlling himself in excited situations. He will listen to us when the mood is right but add anything into the mix and he lets his curiosity and excitement take…

Poe, Talullah and Clyde inspect the tree that fell and missed our house by a few feet. If only I could send them out there with a chainsaw to clean up the mess!

7 years ago, I got my poodle puupy at a rescue clinic at petsmart. he came out of a carton of puppies covered in their own ___. petsmart gave him a free grooming, putting him ahead of all the other dogs, so I would not have to take him home dirty. I was so impressed. I also thought I would share that info when it was relevant.

Sort of a rough night last night. Sophie was restless. She only drank if I held ice cubes for her. But today with the sunshine she is much better. Up and about, ate a little breakfast and just a tiny drink. I would like for her to drink more but she isn't very interested.
Her incision looks good but I was surprised by how large an area they had to shave on her tummy. They also shaved a spot on her leg for the IV catheter. That little spot seems to be aggravating her the most.…

These are all post grooming... (they may be a little blurry - I took them all with my phone)

There are some really great pictures in this week's athletic Doods. Great photographers on DK.
I am amazed at all the common Dood traits when I look at these photos. I live just outside of New Orleans and we don't have a lot of Doods down here. Traits that I thought were "just goofball Murph" I see over and over in your photos. The huge mouth with the gigantic teeth. Flying through the air to catch a ball or frisbee...but mostly just loving to fly. Leaping into the…

Poor Sophie had surgery today. She went in at 8:30 this morning and was ready to come home at 1:00. She had pre-anesthetic bloodwork, her nails trimmed, microchipped and the spaying. Everything went smoothly. Her incision had a tiny bit of bleeding but looks really good. She is still really groggy right now! Not interested in eating but drinking a little with encouragement. Poor baby. She is still so good natured and sweet. She always hangs with us in the family room or follows me from room…

(mostly) Good news abounds with the Wilbert. First - he responded to neither "Wilbur" or "Orville", so I have offically decided to go with Wilbur. He has no secondary skin infections that require treating. The groomer (the Pet Gallery in Atlanta - oh how I love them!) did a WONDERFUL job grooming him. They said he was a super sweet boy (which he is). They were able to work through some of the hair on his head, so he looks very poodle-ish right now, but his body is cut to the skin (the hair…
