Hi all --
Many of you have been so wonderful to send well wishes for the recovery of my husband Jess. He chuckled weeks ago when I stumbled upon this site gazing at all your doodles when I had my own adorable little love always there to make me smile. Jess was hooked too...as we viewed your exquisite pets, many of them seeming to be long lost sisters and brothers to our little nutball, Phoebe. No matter how busy he was, he would always come over to me and my PC to look at other doodles…

On my way home Wed morning with my Aunt, I saw this guy standing on the side of our rural road in the ditch. He was trying to pick up an animal. So I slowed up to see if he may need help. It was a bunny. He didn't see me when he kicked at it! ARRGGG!! That bunny ran right into the culvert drainage tube under the driveway which led to an old farm without a house. Duck and chickens where out though.
I told my Aunt I would drop her off and return to see if he needed my help on the other…

I had to take Phoebe to the vet this morning as she threw up once and then was piddling all around. I thought it might be a UTI but the vet said she is too young for that. Her urine was tested and she has a very high white cell count and some bacteria. She is now on a 14 day course of antibiotics. Thankfully, she has a lot of energy and she seems fine otherwise. I am praying she pulls through this soon and we will be well on our way to being housebroken--I am assuming this had something to do…

Last night was a RUFF night for all of us. I felt so bad for Dexter. We had to get his shots at the Vet yesterday. He seemed pretty mellow after we got home. I guess I wasn't too upset about it. I asked the vet if there was any side effects to the shots and she told me that he may be a little lethargic. I was NOT prepared for the vomiting that followed. About 3-4 hrs after his shots, we were eating supper. Dex was laying on the rug and he gave me a glazed over look. I commented to my husband…

Yesterday was Trevor's first birthday! I took off work early so I could play with him outside before it got dark.
I brought him home balloons and he was so scared of them! I have never seen him afraid of anything but he barked and barked at those balloons. Then, I took the balloons outside and he started playing with them. He was so cute running around the yard with them in his mouth.
His Grandma sent him some homemade doggie treats that he…

I did a little shopping at Target today and while walking along saw a big display at the end of an aisle for Bissel "Lift-Off/ Pet" vacuum cleaners. Fine - but wait! Each box had a huge picture of the most adorable doodle - I think maybe on three sides. Now why would they put a representation of our wonderful, mostly NON- SHEDDING, doodles on there? Silly, silly people!!

I just wanted to share something I received recently in an email.

From time to time people tell me, “Lighten up, it’s just a dog,” or, “That’s a lot of money for just a dog.” They don’t understand the distance traveled, time spent, or cost involved for “Just a dog.” Some of my proudest moments have come about with “Just a dog.” Many hours have passed with my only company being “Just a dog,” and not once have… Continue

My little Zoey looks like a dog and barks like a dog but has all the habits of a cat...she is nesting she will scratch and scratch and turn in circles until she gets comfortable. She can jump up on things like a cat too. Ok I know she is a dog but has anyone ever seen this nesting thing in a puppy???? I never have seen it before.

I changed the bedding in her crate to a soft liner and last night she slept from 11pm-4am--YAY I also think the shot from the vet may have 'helped' that along as well but I was so excited. She also went right back to sleep after I walked her. I hope we turned a corner but she is such a good girl that I know if not right now, she will be sleeping through the night consistently very soon. Thanks to all of you who added your comments. It is wonderful to know that I can vent to people who really…

I have had the misfortune of getting the flu- even after taking a flu shot! So I have had an unexpected leave from work for the past three days!
During these past few days I have had a chance to observe the doods up close and personal in a way that I haven't before. You can observe a lot when you are too sick to get out of bed!
Here is what I learned:
1. SLEEPING & MORE SLEEPING
They sleep just about all morning.…

I am having problems with my page. Everytime I want to download pictures or do anything on the site I get knocked out of the site and I am told to sign in again. Am I doing something wrong? I haven't had this problem in the past. In the past once I signed in the first time, I was able to do anything I wanted. I wasn't able to post this blog until I signed in a second time.
Thanks

Ozzy has two dew claws that have to be removed next week...Why do dogs have them??? and why don't they get removed when they are born??? Did anyone else have this problem??? Ozzy's have turned upside down and are growing in a "C" shape back into his leg....Poor Ozzy is going to have is front legs shaved to have the dew claws removed and the back leg for the IV. I guess I will even it out and shave the 4th so now he will look like a poodle.

On March 29, individuals from across North America are lobbying for a cause they truly believe in. An issue yet to be answered.. but often in heated debate. A decision that President Obama will be responding to in the coming weeks, which will be highly anticipated. This will not address the economy, the war, or global warming... but for many people takes on its own personal significance. What type of dog will be the First Dog of his administration?.…

Jess was taken off life support yesterday. His heart and lungs are working at a very low output, but working with assist of medication. He is watched closely from the fine medical team at Mayo. He has had some scares but each one has been managed. His chest had to be left open as the heart did not respond as well when they tried to close him -- he has a "skin" like Saran Wrap that is keeping him together.
PSA numbers are way up but a recent…

Phoebe has decided to be a night owl--a barking, whining one, that is. Last night, she barked for an hour and forty-five minutes straight. Despite the lack of sleep, I could not adore her anymore than I do. My youngest has bonded with her in the most amazing way and she seems to have a wonderfully balanced temperament--loves to play but she is soothed quite easily. In time, I am hoping that sleeping through the night will become the norm. She is still so young--just 8 weeks. I also hope that…
