Yes, today is a special day for all of our dogs. Guinness and Murphy are planning to milk this for all it's worth. They're saying...remember Mothers' Day when you got all that special attention, Mom - well, today it's our turn! They have compiled the following list of things they would like in celebration of "their day". Check with your Doodles and add to the list..
-Treats every hour, regardless of how we are behaving....and no "fresh veggies". They aren't "real" treats.
-A…

What a week it was! Monday the 16th was bonding day for Tom, Mater and Gus. When I went to work, they went to the park and then played in the yard. Gus sticks close to Tom and Mater admits to being a little jealous. The Humane Society said that Gus wasn't interested in balls, but Tom have found differently! Mater loves to leap high in the air to catch a ball, but Gus loves it even more!…

Great news on Coco's injured knee. She is doing much much better. She is able to put more weight on her leg every day. She is feeling so much better that she jumped up on my bed for the first time since her injury. When I first walked into my room I just noticed a doodle laying on the bed. I really didn't take in which doodle was it was until Harlow pushed her head in my hand for a scratch. That is when I realized it was Coco in the bed. She was so proud of herself and excited that she could…

We decided to change things up and by the Duck and Oatmeal formula of the brand we buy. Just to keep things interesting for Darwin. He's done well on every other formula we've tried, so we weren't worried. Well, for the past week or so he's had horrible gas, bad diarrhea, and nasty breath. We haven't switched treats at all so I can only guess it's his food. Poor Darwin is kind of miserable and I'm sick of the gas (actually EVERYONE is sick of the gas), so we decided not to use the rest of the…

It was early Sunday the 15th that we got a call for Liz at DRC about a rescue in Terre Haute, about an hour and a half away. I checked with Tom, called her back, and we left within the hour.
We picked up "Butch" at the Terre Haute Humane Society on Sunday. He wiggled and squirreled all over the Jeep on the way home, obviously not accustomed to riding in cars. But at least he didn't get car sick.
Once home, we introduced him to Mater in the front yard…

http://www.frommfamily.com/coupon/Update: I think the coupon is only g0od til the 31st so there's not much…

Tomorrow will be Rusty’s seven month Ampuversary and he is doing great! He is full of life and enjoys almost every minute to its fullest! He still has an occasional day that he is not very active nor eats until later in the day, but by evening he is usually back to normal and wants to play and eagerly eats his dinner. His diarrhea episodes have almost completely subsided and Dr. Macy cut his dosage of Budesonide in half.
Rusty's endurance is still…

One of the things that my mom
loves to do is go down to the canal. She just loves walking down there and seeing all the people and dogs. She is always begging DD to go with her, but he usually doesn't like to go.
However, this weekend we all went because of Mom's 26th Birthday! YAY!…

So every weekend I always tidy up the house a bit and sweep the floors. However, for the first time ever... I didn't do it this weekend! Why you ask?? Because Remington had company!!! Buddy, our friend Mike's parent's goldendoodle came over on Sunday because Mike's parents were moving his sister into college! I figured, why tidy up nowwhen two dogs in the house together are going to make a much bigger mess than usual. Might as well wait until sweet Buddy leaves.
The dog…

Halas and I finished up our 2nd flyball tournament earlier today. The first one was back in May, so it's been over 3 months between tournaments. He's been doing great in practice - not bobbling the ball, not skipping jumps, passing other dogs really well, running with the regular line up of dogs, etc. So we were all expecting big things from him at this tournament. It didn't go exactly as we had hoped. This tournament was much bigger than the first one. It was in the same location, but they had…

Tara and I have been practicing the rollover trick for the past few weeks. We are learning tricks from the "101 Dog Tricks" book and this one
seemed pretty basic and easy. We started by learning the roll part which got her flat on her side. She caught on to that fairly quickly but then we got stuck at that point. The little legs just didn't want to go over. The last few days I have been manually flipping her legs over to complete the roll. Yesterday it all clicked and she has been…

It's pretty amazing that it's been 5 weeks since we brought Floyd home. It's for sure gone by fast but at times it feels like it's been years. Overall I have gotten more sleep but I still have not been able to get my full 8 hours that I'm used to so I have begun getting used to feeling just slightly tired all of the time. I'm ready for nap right now as a matter of a fact. With that said, Floyd is learning so quickly I can't believe how far we have come. Going from that feeling of… Continue

Well we're back from our two weeks at the beach, and the Doods have lots to tell. Overall they were great....although we did have a few "fresh episodes" the first week and we had to join the Naughty Doodles group. By the second week they had adjusted and were able to go out and play in the water off leash in the morning and later in the day when most people had left for the day. There were some grouchy beach people that didn't seem to be very happy with wet Doodles shaking sand all over their…

Recently there was a post about dogs being rescued and in return becoming a friend, companion and an unconditional giver of love. I was just listening to a song by the Eagles called " Love Will Keep us Alive". The lyrics struck me as being the perfect theme song for a rescue organizion. I'm sure it wasn't written with animals in mind but, if it works great. You can listen to the song on my page. This time when I was listening my mind kept seeing the pictures of Matthew when he was rescued. If…

Puppies are inherrently figity and will definitly move or turn at the worst possible moment when you are shooting their picture.
There are two ways we use to secure our puppies:
First is using a narrow black show lead. Get behind your couch or chair and hold the pup in place with the show lead which is easily removed from the image using an editing progarm if you desire. Covering the couch with a blanket or other type of cloth helps keep distractions…
