Thanks to all who have been helping me from the Seizure Group! This has been a scary experience, but have been extremely comforted by all your support and words of wisdom!
Am enjoying each and every second my baby is healthy and seizure free :)
Just because I think she's the cutest thing. Clark was gone today so I made a video for him and here you can see some of her 'tricks':
Miss Nataliepoo is past the 9 month mark and enjoying crawling expeditions, pulling up on everything, playing with dog bones and dog toys and dog collars and everything else that's NOT a baby toy. She loves to give nice slobbery mouth kisses and slap the spoon away at solid-food meal times. She's got 4 teeth with likely… Continue
Hunter has always been very submissive around other dogs. She is always the one to immediately lay down and show her belly with a look in her eyes like "Please, please don't eat me". Even when other dogs are aggressive in play at the dog park Hunter stays sweet and timid. So imagine my surprise when she showed that she had ONE aggressive bone in her body!
Saturday we had another couple over and my DH's cousin and her dog Kito. In the couple there is "Bob". Bob is a TOTAL dog/Hunter… Continue
Peri had her annual exam yesterday afternoon. She has topped out at 24.6 pounds and is in "perfect" health. The vet and techs were completely OBSESSED! They obviously know her, but she hadn't been to our regular vet that sees Taquito as well since last year.
The vet tech started out by saying "she is the most well behaved doodle we have seen", then turned to Peri and said "you have a very good mama who obviously has taught you obedience". In fairness, Peri was being super good. She…
The longer we have Vern the more we are discovering he is a night owl. He has things he wants to get done every night and bedtime is not one of them. There are bones to chew, a yard to explore, a cat to bug, and you get the picture. Last night, he finally fell asleep and then my husband came to bed and he woke up ready to go. While I was trying to get him back in the sleepy mode by petting him, I could feel burrs up near his mouth and under his chin. Burrs that did not want to come out, so back… Continue
Today was beautiful. Sunny but nice and cool, which is really nice since my fur is black. Mom says I'm not going to like Florida when we move there. So why are we?
Mom took me for a ride in the car. I'm starting to get brave and stick my nose out the window. But it makes me sneeze, so I don't do it for very long. Car rides make me sleepy, though, so I curled up on the backseat and it was lights out. Hope Mom doesn't mind…
They say we do everything "big" in Texas... apparently rain as well. The water in my backyard is several inches deep. It's a couple inches even on my patio. Let me tell you - tons of fun trying to potty train a young puppy in this. Violet is a trouper. She checked it for a few minutes and then braved the lake that is our backyard to find a spot she could call her own. She came in looking like a drowned rat, but I was so proud of her.
My parents got this lady from the DRC. Her previous owner shaved her down - completely... even her whiskers are cut short, and the vet says she has a little bit too much meat on her bones... She's a Labradoodle and did get more of that thick Lab body, though her face is narrow. She's very strong, very solid. She's a big girl, I think she was listed as 42lbs, her actual weight is 68lbs. She doesn't know it though - she is intimidated by my 11 week old Goldendoodle puppy,…
So my boy had a "ruff" night monday with that kennel cough mayhem. We were up until 3am as he hacked and yakked. But yesterday things were so much better and his coughing really only occurred mildly after walks. And by mid-day he wanted to play. His sad eyes turned into happy eyes. I think it was the small tidbit of steak i put in his dish. He polished off his meals. Last night he slept straight through with no coughing and this morning just a small cough again after our walk. I am thrilled… Continue
Took Kramer to the annual "Doggy Dip" held every year on Labor Day. Every year is gets more crowded. Lost Kramer in the crowd. He went by the gates, and a nice attendant held him for me. Here are the pictures.…
so i was at the home of a friend on Friday who has 2 German Shortair Pointers....They were both very sick with kennel cough. I left Duncan home. And when I got home I quickly washed up and changed my clothes just in case. Well apparently that didn't work. He just started coughing suddenly tonight (3 days later). My poor boy. It's so sad. I'm bringing him to vet tomorrow. I know it just has to run its course in most cases but i'd rather err on the side of caution and have him checked… Continue
Gus has been with us for three full weeks now. He's really starting to feel secure here and he and Mater have become great buddies. But he definitely wants to be the alpha dog of the two and Mater isn't used to that. I think perhaps it comes from Gus having been altered much later in life while Mater and most of his friends were less than a year when they were neutered. Gus is a leg lifter and scent spreader, for certain. I keep trying to teach him not to water my flowers!
Debbie & Mya came here yesterday and we took all the girls in my car to the local Deli for lunch. The back of the truck was open, all 3 girls waited so patiently for us to leash them up. We started walking to the deli and some num-nut older man stops us and says "why would you have this dog with these 2 beautiful Poodles". Dumbfounded, I answered "they are all labradoodles" and continued on our way.
I couldn't say anything else - I was in shock! I guess it was lucky for me…
My parents are now proud Doodle parents. I had mentioned that my parents had been won over by my Doodles in my previous blog. They lost their mini-Schnauzer at least a year ago and finally this last month have been talking about how much the miss the company, which they realized after having Veruca stay with them for a week during our vacation.
After ups and downs, holding their breath, thinking there wasn't a chance but hoping there was... they…
Last night my husband and I are sitting in our parlor having a cocktail. My husband notices that Achilles is not in my lap ( where he usually is) . He gets up to check on him, and says the back door is open. My son had taken Achilles out and then went upstairs. The door did not close when he came in. Achilles is not in the house. PANIC! We ran outside and there my baby was in his pen digging up a root. Thank god he loves this fenced in area that we play with him in. I don't know what I would… Continue
So let me just say that I feel PRIVILEDGED to be able to help Rescue Gladwyn. It was and will not be me alone to get this boy where he needs to be but here is my part of the story. I was a bit nervous about my first rescue but have found it to be an experience unlike any other.
I'm feeling like a "blog hog", so please forgive me. Today was a traumatic day for Murph (and me too). I could no longer handle the mats from the "coat change", and he could no longer handle me trying to remove them. We were both on our last nerve, and there was no way I could keep up with them. So his gorgeous coat is now in the trash at Petco. I knew this would be difficult for him, so I made poor Guinness go with him....poor guy didn't even need a grooming. The groomer was really sweet, and… Continue
Well, it is day 8, I THINK, somehow in all of this, time has become a blur. The fur has continued to fly on a daily basis. DH walked into the house the other day and found a big chunk on the top of my head!! Don't ask me...
I have dubbed my grooming technique the Snip and Stuff method. I take a couple of snips and stuff a treat...snip and stuff... well you get it.
I am stopping at this point because we both are totally burned out and need a break. Plus I have…
We had the boys at the Vet today which is always a real fun time...they love it there (really). The Vet was with us for quite a while, and most of that time she was playing, hugging, and kissing them (yes, that's why they love it). She made a comment that made me laugh and got me thinking. She said "these guys are so different....Murphy is like the big, goofy Jock, and Guinness is like the little Nerd". She's absolutely right...she "nailed it". Guinness is so serious about EVERYTHING. He… Continue
