Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Earlier this summer I was summoned from my office by our DD who was in the kitchen with the boys. She said “Mom, don’t freak out, but I’ve researched this and Harley & Leo can have some of my ***********as a treat.”
Before I could respond, she continued. “They say for some dogs it’s an acquired taste. They may not like…

Something is terrible wrong in my household. Everything is topsy-turvy. It all started the other week when my daughter and I were going out shopping and to lunch. We had a wonderful time and because I was on a shopping high, I looked over at her in the car and said, “We are just like best friends!” You would have thought since she’d already suckered me into buying her some new clothes that she would have smiled and just said yes in response. Instead she flashed a little grin and said,…

This is weird! No other way to describe it. My “soon to be” four year old Doodle is having an “Incredible Hulk” moment. Like the leaves on a maple tree in the fall, Harley’s coat is changing. Harley’s mother – a beautiful amber colored golden retriever. His father? A rather large curly copper red poodle. Yet Harley’s coat? White – straight – and fluffy like cotton.…

I was thinking this morning about the value of time. Specifically, the 10-15 minutes Halas and I spend on our morning walks.
For the last couple of months, if I leave the house for my morning workout, I take Halas for a walk when I get home. After that, I get ready and head off to work. So these walks mean that I get to work about 10-15 minutes later than I would otherwise. I got to thinking this morning about that 10-15 minutes, and what it's worth.
Getting to work 10-15…

There is a photo that has been on our page for months, and I thought that you might enjoy hearing how that photo came to be.
For a bit of history, we welcomed a pair of geese a couple of years ago, but they have since been evicted. They are bad tenants….. too messy. We have tried a few humane goose deterrents, and the things that…

Yesterday while driving, I was listening to Pink’s new CD and knew instantly in one of the songs, she must be singing about her husband. The song talked about how she loved him, but wanted to slap him sometimes. Now, mind you, I don’t condone violence in a marriage, but I definitely understand what she was trying to say. Last night, was one of those “I really want to slap you,” nights. Vern is back to his old habits, getting me up at night to go out and go potty. He goes in…

When asked to describe Milton, one of the first words that pops into my mind is, "helpful." Yes, our boy is just plain helpful. For example, he guards our front door, not by barking like a watchdog would, but by using a full out sprawl to body block the door. Helpful, indeed. Likewise, our goldendoodle is in charge of exercise in our home and drags his Momma and Daddy out on "forced fun marches." Not to mention he is a virtual alarm clock, not during the week, but rather on the…

... I sit here and think about what led up to getting our first Dood Molly.
When I was a child growing up, we weren't able to have any pets other than Hamsters or Guinea Pigs. My mom was extremely allergic to both cats and dogs. Turned out that she wasn't the only one. My brother is allergic to cats, and I'm allergic to both.
When I met my husband, his family had a mutt named Shadow, and I couldn't be near her without sneezing, and being super itchy. It…

Today DH and I decided to take Darwin on a local nature walk. When we got there we were happy to discover that not only are dogs allowed, but they are okay to be off leash. A huge treat! We had a fun (and muddy) day. He started off excited and clean..
And he quickly got dirty! Now, I am guessing the rest of your doodles have a similar syndrome to…

Well.. The first step for us is getting a Doodle is moving out of our cozy apartment and into a larger space. Before the financial burden of moving can happen, we had planned to get married. So the way I look at it, we're one step closer to getting our beloved Doodle!
We got married this past weekend in my hometown, outside on a golf course. The weather was perfect and we couldn't ask for anything more to complete our day... Except a Doodle.
I thought a dog…

Welcome to my very first guest blog post by my good friend, Thuy, the proud owner of an Aussiedoodle (see picture below)! Thuy and I met via the popular doodle forum, Doodlekisses.com, and since we both live in Texas, friendship was just plain easy! After a bit of persuasively cajoling from me, Thuy graciously wrote a fun and informative post on Aussiedoodles. Please do read on...! …

We all know that Craigslist is NOT the place to buy a dog or to even GIVE AWAY a dog.
Maltese Rescue has recently been contacted by a couple who bought a "two year old" Maltese female on Craigslist. The dog turned out to be eleven years old with a collapsed trachea and serous heart problems.
There have been occasions in which dogs offered free on Craigslist were "adopted" by the scum involved in dog fighting and used as "bait" for the fighting dogs to…

Maybe Labradoodles are not often thought of when people say they want a good watchdog, but all that is going to change when I tell you about my Vern. I knew shortly after I brought him home that he was special. I could tell by the way he barked at the dog in the mirror and once peed on the floor at the vet’s office when he caught a glimpse of this adorable cream-colored Doodle in their mirror on the way out the door. Sometimes, he even went on high alert when he felt something wagging off…

A couple of nights ago, as we were walking the dogs, we stopped to pick up the wild life camera to check to see if we had captured any woodland critters. We did get a couple of shots of interesting “Wild Life”.…

I was all ready to upload a magnificent guest post from a dear friend of mine, when NEWS happened. Sometimes it just falls right into your lap like that. Well, tonight Milton was lying on the floor gnawing on a chew toy when Jeff discovered something priceless, collectible, and purely worth its weight in gold. A tooth!…

Step 1: Teach your doodle how to "open" the fridge. I did this by rewarding him every time he touched the towel (or rope), then every time he held onto the towel with his mouth, and finally only rewarding him when he pulled on the towel. This is easy if your dog likes to play tug with you.
Step 2: Get a toy bottle similar to the one pictured below:…

Paz and I had a great learning experience which I wanted to share with all my friends at Doodlekisses. Paz is a Pet Partner registered therapy dog, and for the most part, his behavior is truly exceptional. We live in Lower Manhattan, where the streets are crowded with dogs, people, noise etc., and Paz has learned to ignore almost everything that approaches, however, the area in which I definitely needed improvement, is learning to remain calm when I'm walking Paz as we are being…
