I got a wonderful "doodle" gift from my brother-in-law this Christmas. He is an excellent photographer with tons of equipment and a large format printer. He took a picture of my red LD this summer and played with it on photoshop so that it's all in grey tones on a white background--very abstract, but a lovely portrait of my cute little pup! He printed it in a large size and framed it for me! I will try to take a picture of it for all to see.

Well, this has not been the best of vacations but I hope the rest will go smoothly.
First we hit the blizzard in Virginia and got stuck there for 2 days. Then we had several hours of white knuckle driving.
Then my granddaughter got sick and we ended up having to get medical attention. She had an ear and throat infection with the flu. She is on antibiotics and feeling much better. (Thank God). She couldn't eat, had a fever and was vomiting for 3 days.
Then my…

Here it is Sheba, Christmas day and your first birthday! We're sorry you have to spend some of it in the back of the car with the luggage and your brother Duke who tends to hog every inch of left over available space. We don't have a cake to eat or any presents for you to unwrap...but for your birthday you get to go to Florida with us and play on the doggie beach day after day and romp with Linda, Yankee & Finn!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!
You have been such a joy to us since you entered our…

Capp got himself on
Santa's Naughty List today. I noticed the auto-close gate slightly ajar, and began to call the doodles. They are not allowed free reign of the house unless I am supervising. Joe came bouncing to me immediately when I called, but Capp took three calls before he came out of the dining room and into the foyer. Capp has this "Who Me" look that he uses when he has been naughty. He also puts himself into his "sit" position and pretends to look perfect.
Today all…

Apparently Mike Vick is worthy of an award for courage, as chosen by his team. He is a "communtiy role model."

Another reason to boycott the Eagles sponsors, IMHO.

This will probably my shortest blog ever! As we ready for Christmas, just thought I'd add a short note thanking everyone who invited me to join one of the Christmas Card groups. I joined Group B, and even though I was reluctant at first, it really was a lot of fun looking forward to getting pix of Doodles every day in the mail, then covering the wall with them...we actually look like we know a few people now...hee hee!
For those that weren't in Group B, this was my humble addition…

Happy Holiday's to all of you. I had to share this funny little story. Poor Daisy is in a real funk. Last week she got to open presents at my Mothers home and she LOVED it. We kept rewrapping them so she could open more - LOL! Well, yesterday I finally wrapped all her presents and put them under the Christmas tree. She tried open them at first, Doug and I had to tell her that she had to wait. So she has sniffed them, moved them around, sniffed them, moved them some more but she has not opened…

Have you ever heard yourself saying something, and even as the words are leaving your mouth your inner voice is going "STOP!!!!!"? I had one of those moments about two weeks ago when a co-worker asked me for the number of a place to board her dog over the holidays.
What I should have said..."Sure - here's the number to Barking Hound Village"
What I actually said..." I'll keep Zoey while you're gone"
So, fast-forward to yesterday, when Zoey, the adorable 6.5lb…

Today is Duncan's first birthday...he suffered through wearing a hat for me just long enough to snap a few pics. And as a reward he got some baked treats from the Beggin Dog Bakery here in my neighborhood. I let him have the 2 smaller treats today and we're going to save the Happy Birthday bone for tomorrow night to keep him busy while we're feasting on our Christmas Eve dinner.
For presents, he got a new dog bed, and a hide-a-squirrel toy! Unfortunately the hide-a-squirrel toy was missing…

I had my little great niece (wow that makes me sound old) yesterday. Lucy and Sophie did so well with her. After the initial excitement of her arrival the rest of the day went extremely smooth! We had no tears from being scratched all day (that's a first). Lucy and Sophie just don't realize that they are bigger than Emma and seems we always end up with Emma in tears. Yesterday though they entertained each other all day. Lucy would lay at Emma's feet under the desk while she played Dora on the…

Sorry, I should have updated this sooner. We did leave Virginia Sunday morning at 5am and had some rough driving for a few hours. We saw the aftermath of the storm. Cars and 18 wheelers in the ditch all over the place. One lady was stuck in her car for 15 hrs.
We took it slow and pushed right through to Florida as they were expecting more snow. We're here and trying to make the best of things as my granddaughter has been very sick since yesterday.
Will update more…

Tonight's TV news reported the first case of swine flu infecting a dog in the US. A dog in New York state got swine flu from his owner. So far there are no known cases of dog to human transmission. Signs of infection include fever, lethargy and cough. These are the same signs as dogs get with canine influenza. Only lab testing can distinguish the two. Cats & ferrets also get swine flu. If you have flu you should try to avoid transmitting it to your pets in the same ways you would try to…

Quick question I need to put out here. All Points Bulletin.
One of our members trains therapy dogs. What is her name? I think she had two for sale a few months back she had already trained this purpose. She may have her own website too if I remember.
Someone is writing me for a doodle to train to take into schools so children can read to the dog. I think she teaches reading.
Thanks, Joanne

Lizzie Louise got to open her Christmas present early this year because I had to leave town! Michele Baker, from Paul and Michele, and her dog Molly doodle gave Lizzie the CUTEST doggie bed ever! It is pink (Lizzie's favorite color) and is embroidered with her name! Lizzie laid on it constantly right after she opened it and piled a bunch of her toys on top of it. She's with the grandparents for Christmas because dbf and I are with my parents in Juneau, AK. I miss her terribly! But I know she's…

The only good thing to come out of this contest is that the winner said all the money would be donated to charity. This is what the sponsor said, which addresses some of the issues people raised at the time.

This weekend Dan, Remington and I went to the Rhoton side of the family to celebrate Christmas! We headed to Columbus Thursday evening and arrived about 8:30 or 9:00. Dan's grandparents were already there with his parents so we all sat around and chatted while our Remington Bear got acquainted with the house and these new people. He loved Dan's grandpa, probably because he would rub his favorite spot under his chin. Dan's grandma who doesn't care much for dogs loved him too. Before we went to…
