Hi Doods... it's Shelby!
I haven't posted in a few days, but thought I would today because it might make me feel better hearing from you all. Feel better?!? you say... yes, it's true - I am feeling icky this morning! I am not sure what happened and neither is my human mom, but I woke up early 4:30am and have thrown up several times today. My mom is taking good care of me... she even called work and is working from home so she can watch me... I guess that is one of the nice…

Thank you all for the positive feedback on my first blog post. I got such positive feedback that I thought I would try another. I think I mentioned last time that my human mom (Christine) has enrolled me (us) in the AKC Star Puppy class. We had class tonight and it was a lot of fun. When I first started "school" - that is what she calls it - I was a spaz and just wanted to play with everyone. Well, now I wow my mom with my focus while I am in class. I do have a weak spot for my BFF in class…

Hi everyone... it's Shelby! I am 6.5 months old and have decided to take matters into my own paws and submit a journal entry. My human (Christine) has been spending plenty of time on DoodleKisses, but hasn't written a blog in a long time. It's not that she didn't have anything to share... she just didn't know if it was blog worthy (would people want to read it). I know you would want to read a blog post if I authored it... so here it goes!
The past 2 weeks have been a bit…

It's beginning to warm up in Texas, so I've been walking Shelby in the morning and evening (as the sun goes down). This morning was one of those mornings when it would appear Shelby (who is almost 6 months) has never had any obedience training. The birds, the blowing leaves and everything else seemed to be too exciting for her to exhibit any self control during about 1/2 of our walk.
Shelby decided to take her dietary needs in to her own hands this morning. She ate a dead…

This morning after our walk Shelby got her first experience with the sprinklers in my yard! She had to go potty and the back yard sprinkers were running, so I thought - well, I guess now is as good a time as ever... after all they will be on for the next several months!
Shelby loved the sprinklers! She ran around the yard non stop for about 5 minutes and love it! Then of course she came to the back yard soaking wet! It was so adorable... this along with her…

Shelby is my first dog ever and I am the only one in my household, so crate training was a must. Since the day I brought her home, she has been crated while I am at work and at night. I've been coming home for an extended 2 hour lunch each day... we go for a walk, do some training, burn some energy and then go back to the crate until I get home from work. Shelby and I typically go to bed around 10:30pm... and sometimes she has been getting up a bit too early for my taste... 5:30am! So, I had…

I took Shelby in for her first groom yesterday.... just a puppy groom.... bath, blow dry, razor trim around face and paws, sanitary, ear cleaning and nail trim/grind. I didn't know how she would do. Well, she got rave reviews from the grooming department! They said they would have never guessed that she hadn't been groomed before. Yes, the blow dryer freaked her out at first, but she was fine. Sat still on the table for the razor and nail work! I guess all my work on…

Right now my Shelby is spending her first night in a boarding facility. I had an out of town wedding to attend today - and it was for a colleauge... so pretty much everyone who helps me with Shelby when I can't get home during lunch or need help with something was also at the wedding. I had to board her for the night... and I am just hoping she is having an easier time than I am. I have to admit I teared up as I left... and could hear her pawing on the glass as I walked away! Shelby is a…

I thought it would be fun to start a group of alumni from Dixie's Doodles in Georgetown, TX! I have only been a member of DoodleKisses for a few days, so I don't have names or e-mails to send invites. I decided to try a blog post to drum up some interest and hopefully have some people join the group. I wonder how far some of the pups traveled to get to their forever homes! Please pass the word and if your Labradoodle is an alum... please join and tell us all about your…
