Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Today was our last day of obedience class. The dogs were tested on all of the things we worked on in class. Sophie's class had about 8 dogs, all different kinds. She was the only labradoodle in the group. I was worried about how the tests would go since there were a lot of smart grown up dogs and she can be so excitable some times. I sort of went to the class with the attitude that we might flunk, and we'd just have to practice some more at home and come back to re-take the test another…

Our very dear friend Laurie has got to be one of the kindest souls I've ever known. When I mentioned that because of Winston's expensive vet bills I'd have to put off getting him a new bed, Laurie immediately sent me a message saying she would like to buy Winston a new bed. I was blown away by her kindness and generosity! I gratefully accepted her offer and we went about the complicated task of picking out the perfect memory foam doggie bed. I finally found the perfect bed and we ordered it…

I hate to say it, but I have to come to terms with it eventually. My 'supposedly' sweet and innocent "Pooh Bear" has a dark side. That's right, there's no denying it any longer. I have photographic evidence of his misdeeds. Poor Sophie Bear will never be the same again.
And to think, I trusted him!
He is Winnie the Pooh no longer. Winston the…

As I am getting ready to head off to my family Thanks-Giving dinner at my cousins place, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the things that make me most grateful in life. Of course there are the usual things like my health, my family and friends, my job and all the nice things it affords me, and most definitely the love and joy that has come to me over this past year as I embarked into the world of doodledom. However, I have to say that true happiness for me is found in little things…

This week has been incredible. I am so in love with both my doodles. They make me so incredible happy and taking care of them brings me such a sense of fulfillment. I love going to the park with them and playing with the other dogs. Being around animals seems to fill me with joy. My eyes light up when I talk about it.
All week at work I thought about my furbabies all the time and couldn't wait to get home to play with them. Work itself is blah. My job is ok in theory, but…

Well, the last week or so has been a whirlwind of activity. I ran a 5km race for charity, walked in the wiggle waggle walk-a-thon with Sophie, celebrated my dad's 70th birthday, (finally) picked up my brand new car, and rescued a doodle.
So I bet your just dying to hear all about my new car. Well, it's shiny blue, it has four doors and a hatch, a zippy engine, four wheels, a steering wheel ... What's that you say???? You're more interested in the doodle?? Well alright FINE…

I find this very amusing, and am getting visuals that give me the giggles. I have tried to do some yoga stretches in my living room but it usually just ends in play time with the pets. When I do downward dog, the cat makes herself cozy under my arch, and the doodle takes advantage of my hands…

I DID IT!! .... no not that.
Unfortunately this blog post has nothing to do with intercourse, the Pennsylvania kind or otherwise.
I've been hemming and hawing for a while now, but I was thrown into decision time when my point and shoot broke and the camera shop said I needed to chuck it. So I did, and walked out with a brand spankin new DSLR Camera, and am now signed up for a beginners photography course!! I'm really excited since this is something…

I love summer. There's nothing like the feeling of the warm sun on your skin to lift your soul. I guess living in frosty Ottawa gives me a lot of appreciation for warmer weather. I have to say though, enjoying summer with a doodle at my side has been exceptionally delightful. In the past, I have never fully appreciated the wonderful neighbourhood I live in, with all the parcs, tree-lined walking paths, nearby hiking trails, colourful cafes and friendly people. Sophie Bear has gotten me off…

This blog post was supposed to be about my wonderful ‘staycation’ coming to an end and all the fabulous stuff that I did with my doodle over the last two weeks. As I was about to start, I was interrupted by what can only be described as complete madness. I’m still a little jittery so I need to write it out of my system. Here goes...
I was browsing through DK, posting comments and getting ready to type up my blog when I looked out the window and realized it looked like rain. I…

I thought SophieBear loved her knew dog walker, at least I do. She uses biodegradable poop bags and makes home made doggie treats. She loves walking Sophie Bear and always comments on how well behaved she is on her walks.
Well, now I'm not so sure. I received my June bill yesterday and SophieBear was quick to let me know what she thought about it.

*** OMG I totally forgot to include the worst thing that happened to me this week! My Visa Number got stolen and someone in the UK took a very expensive trip to Spain. After hours of haggling on the phone about it they finally sorted it out. But Sheesh. The thief could have at least taken me with him!!!***
Ok, I'm sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but I am feeling pretty low at the moment and need some DK love. This has been The. Worst. Week.…

It started off as a quiet Saturday morning. A beautiful sunny day, gentle wind blowing to keep us cool. We took a leisurly stroll along the tree lined canal, and then off we went to the local coffee shop off the main street near our place. I put down my coffee next to my book and purse on the patio table, and then bent down to tether a very happy Sophie Bear to to the table leg. I unclipped her, holding her collar loosely with one finger figuring she would NEVER run away on me, and turned my…

Ok, I posted this this morning in the food group, but after reading Jennifer and Jack's post about gratitude I've calmed down a bit and I can see the humour in the situation afterall, even though it's now 7:30 and the poop smell still lingers. I thought I'd share it in my blog so everyone can get a kick out of it.
....
Just when I thought things were looking up, Sophie did something she's never done before. She pooped in…

I live in an apartment building where there are many other dogs and we interact with them regularly. There are a lot of interesting characters, (furry and human), like the little shi tzu who's fur is so long it drags on the floor and you can't tell his face from his bum (no wonder he barks all the time and pees on the steps, he can't see a thing!!). Anyway, I love greeting all the dogs as we come and go and so does Sophie.
Well, there is this one dog that has a big problem.…

Sophie came home with me on Wednesday February 23, 2011. She is nine weeks old and is absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me. She makes me laugh with her silly antics, and melts my hear when she runs to me and cuddles up in my lap. She loves playing with her toys and romping in the snow. Sophie bear is the most affectionate and friendly puppy…
