Every fourth or July, we participate in a small parade in a tiny town nearby. Anyone who wants to march or have a "float' (usually a wagon that is decorated with flags) can march down the road and be a part of it all. It is really fun and a great place to have some social time with your dog. There are always great dogs there. Today, my two doodles and I were marching along and from the sidelines, people with doodles on leashes were asking me if my two dogs were doodles! This happened 5 or 6…

So last night our family decided to have a camp out in our backyard. We set out the tent and had a beautiful fire going in the fire pit. We sat around roasting marshmallows and lighting sparklers, as we watched the pre 4th of July fireworks. When it was time to get ready for bed we all went in the tent. Sonny joined us and wasn't quite sure what to make of the tent. Being almost 10:00 and past his bedtime,Sonny was tired. He tried various spots on the floor of the tent and he finally after 10…

It is Kona Babona's 3rd Birthday! We are so lucky to have her come into our lives. She is sweet, sassy, loving, and kooky all rolled up into one sweet Doodle. She adores her Daddy, she is a love bug and wonderful companion to her Mommy, and a best friend and pest to her brother Buddy. We could not have hoped for a more wonderful puppy to join our family. Thanks to Kona, I have made the most…

I thought the swimming group might like to hear about my little sister's swimming adventure: Mummy said it would give people a laugh.
This week my family and I all went to Whistler for a mini break. That's a holiday where you can take little doodles like me, and my little sister, Mabel. We stayed in a dog friendly hotel and spent our time hiking, picnicking and swimming in the lakes. As well, we spent Canada Day in Whistler Village, where lots of people stopped to pet us… Continue

I have had a hard time recently with people I know getting dogs, who are completely unprepared. These are people I grew up with, who were always aware of my dog-obsessed attitude. Because of this, a few of them have contacted me when they got a dog, wanting to catch up, and share photos. I have been shocked at how little these people know about the breeds they just purchased. They have literally said "I am so scared, I don't know anything about dogs!" and "I am a cat person, but I went to a dog…

It's been a while since the Doods and I "blogged", so I thought it was time for an update. Two weeks ago my hard drive "crashed", and it's been a nightmare ever since. I lost everything....my own fault because the only thing I had backed-up were my videos. I lost 1200 pictures...yes, all my puppy pictures are gone. All the pics of our trips and the grandkids are gone. My laptop went to the Apple Hospital for a week and came back to me like a whole new computer. So, that means several days of…

Ok maybe my mom is a bit protective - so please do voice your opinion about this - but my mom does not like to see dogs (Doods or any other kind) left, tired up to some garbage can, street lamp etc. while their human goes into stores to grab groceries, or a coffee, or baked goods etc.
100,000 dogs are stolen or lost every year…

I am upset and have been for some time regarding my sons ball team this year. He has a new coach that has taken his last year of baseball and flushed it down the toilet. Not only to my son but four in all. He says he didn't but the proof is in the pudding. This was our last year to watch our son play as he is leaving for university and this is the last year he is eligible to play due to age group. This is a boy that was to be the first baseman on a National team and competing in the Worlds as…

He loves to "work" there. His strength is paper shredding....well there were 6 dogs there that day and they decided to take a picture of the whole gang....the water cooler clique.
Left to right: Nora a rescue wirey terrier mix, Riley a black pug and Duncan's best buddy, Duncan Doodle, Enzo the…

Dr. Macy gave Rusty the okay to start swimming and
we are back in the pool! Rusty was very nervous the first few days so
we just let him take it easy and get comfortable. Today he jumped on
the float and never looked back! He jumps on the float from the sides
of the pool, the spa wall and from in the water! Really remarkable that
he can do everything with three legs that he did last year on four. I plan on
making another video of him… Continue

Yesterday Quincy did his very first Walk-A-Thon in aid of our local no kill shelter,

Heavenly Creatures. We couldn't have ordered a nicer day. There were lots and lots of dogs of all shapes and sizes. He was absolutely well behaved and met many different dogs. He also had his first exposure to small puppies. We…

Malu is 20 weeks old today. Until recently, he would never lay down and relax like the other dogs when he was out of his kennel. EVER. Come out of the kennel, run around the living room, get a toy, drop that toy because Bling has a better toy, bark at Bling because she won't give up the toy, chase the cat, chase the other cat, bark at Bennie because he won't play, bark at Bling some more, get some new toys out of the basket, chase the cat again, etc etc etc. Ball o' energy. So since he has…

If anyone is interested or missed it Animal Planet is re-airing the Petland Exposed special right now and later tonight and over the weekend.
I didn't know it until today but my mom and dad's shih-tzu came from Petland - my aunt had bought him and she passed away when Oliver was only 4 months old (she got him at 6 weeks) and my parents took him. My mom has his "papers" from Petland and it says "he" is a "she", unbelievable. I am not sure how my aunt didn't see that but it was 10…

This morning after I finished my shower, Malu decided to jump into the tub and carry around the little rubber hair trap that sits over the drain (GROSS!!!!). I made him drop it and then get out. He got back in. Mind you, the curtain was pulled shut, so he kept nosing around the edge to get in. Crazy doodle! He got in and out about 4 times.

Abel's first Birthday was just over a week ago. Can't believe it's been almost a year since we first went to look at the little guy. He is not so little anymore!
Not too much is new in our world. I tried to take him swimming a couple weeks back and he wouldn't even put a paw in the river :o I really hope he learns to be a swimming dog.
In July we will be taking him camping in the mountains for the first time. Me, being from BC, am excited to show him the mountain haha. Our trip…

Today, Bentley the Foster Schnoodle's new forever family came and picked him up. His new mom had such an instant connection to him (and vice versa) that I felt like it was a reunion instead of an introduction. The thing is that Bentley NEVER looked as cute in photos as he is in person. His new mom, dad, and college-aged sister were overwhelemed by his adorableness! The parents are retirees who will have lots and lots of time to walk Bentley and teach him to be a good schnoodle citizen. They…

Last night we had our 3rd Puppy K class. We worked on down, getting the dogs into a heel position and patience drills to prepare for stay. Last week we worked on sit (Malu has been doing this since he was 8 weeks old) luring with treats and "grab 'ems" where you pull the puppies out of play by their collar and treat them, then let them go back to playing. This way they learn that getting grabbed by the collar doesn't always mean going in the kennel, having playmates taken away,…
