A Leap Of Faith

I have never let Guinness or Murphy off lead outside unless we were in a fenced in area. Today we went exploring, and we found a fantastic off leash dog park only 30 minutes away. It is 235 acres of State property on a beautiful river. When we got there we saw a couple of people with their dogs (about 10), but it was so huge you could easily find an area where there were no other dogs. We brought our 30 ft leads....I had planned to "walk them" on the long leads. Well, it was such a perfect… Continue

Peri's Breakthrough with my Mother!

I posted a blog a few months ago about my mother not liking Peri. She was getting into her flowers and just being a normal doodle puppy, but mom upset me by saying she "shouldn't be like this now that she is almost a year old". We spend each Sunday at my parents' house for "family day". 4 dogs get to enjoy time together playing around, us humans do fun family stuff like games, movies, etc....

Since the comment my mom made, I have stressed to my parents the importance of not just…

Aunt Holly Will Have Some More Puppies To Love

Holly, our year and a half old Goldendoodle, just loves puppies. Although Holly has been spayed; our work with American Maltese Rescue often provides her puppies to love and care for (see my photos for examples of Holly's interaction with little Maltese pups).

A Maltese breeder in the Pacific Northwest has terminal cancer and will soon pass away. The breeder has no one to care for her dogs so, American Maltese Rescue is stepping in to help. Judy is driving from Escondido to…

With Destruction Like This...Who Needs a Puppy?

I have only recently gotten over my puppy fever, deciding to wait until next year at the earliest (believe me I was tempted a few weeks ago to say "OK..let's get it THIS SUMMER!")

But with destruction like this...WHO NEEDS A PUPPY?…

Celebrating Ella Fitzgerald ~ turning the page to the next chapter

On Friday our dear Ella Fitzgerald at 4 1/2 years old officially retired, she was spayed. It is bittersweet because it is time, but I still swallow a lump in my throat. I do not know if I can find the words to express how I feel about Ella but am going to try.…

My First Bike Week

My 1st Laconia Bike Week is awesome so far!!! I love all the bikes, bikers, music and smells!!

Mom thought I might be a little overwhelmed with all the goings on but I'm totally loving it.

Everyone wants to stop and say hi to me and pat me and be my friend. Mom says she's going to

get a shirt for me that says "My name is Banjo. I am a Goldendoodle. That's a cross between

a Golden Retriever and a… Continue

I Had A Fun Day!

Hi, It's me Quincy, I want to tell you about my fun day and how I made my mom and dad proud. Today we went to a Pet Expo, it was a fundraiser for our local shelters that help the animals. Yipeee! Dogs were allowed inside. There are not many places in our town that allow pets inside. First we watched the agility demo outside and I thought that looked like a lot of fun to try but the lady said they have a really long waiting list. It started to rain a little and my mom said she didn't want me…

Guinness and Murphy "Stuff"

I'm totally in the mood for a Doodle blog tonight, so I started to think about the past week with my guys, and here's what I came up with....

MURPHY IS A "TEENY BOPPER"

Whenever my guys go through a change in their behavior, I always look at the developmental stages to help me understand what they may be thinking. Well, Murph is definitely demonstrating some real "interesting changes", so I looked at the development stages, and here's what I… Continue

Shelby's Week...

Hi Doods.... Shelby here!

It's been a few days since I blogged because I have been watching out for my mom. She has hurt her shoulder and even typing has been difficult. She's holds the leash in her other hand now and yelps out in pain when she moves wrong. She has been to the doctor and told me today she had a test where she had to lay still in a big tube (MRI). While she did this test - I got the taste of freedom again - she let me stay out of my crate and hid treats in the house… Continue

First day of Puppy Kindergarten

Well, Monday Malu and I went to Puppy K class. My early training at the house paid off big time! We only worked on a few things, mostly head control and being restrained on the floor by lightly touching shoulders and hips. But we also played the "Take It, Leave It" game, and Malu was the STAR! We spent alot of time playing this game at home in the early weeks (8-12) so he knew it so well. Also, he has previously been restrained by me for nail clippings and ear cleanings, so that was no big.… Continue

THE CONTINUATION OF ROSCO OR SHOULD IT BE SHINER!!!!!

Well, we finally have some more pictures of our little rescue Rosco. He has been a total delight and easy to please, he is just happy all the time..we might nick-name him Shiner. He has the biggest brown eyes that we have been trying to catch in a picture. As you all know we are still traveling back to MD via GA. So as we sit and watch him watch the trees & birds that make an odd noise to him...we smile and… Continue

Oh Remy....

Well, now it's getting interesting. The good, the bad, and the ugly... We've seen all three within the last few weeks. Remy is STILL the most adorable sweet boy we could have. However, it appears his lack of early socialization is causing a few unusual issues. After a few car rides involving profuse drooling and vomiting, Remy REFUSES to get in or go near the car. He bucks like a bronco whenever we even go out for a walk if he has to walk past the car. I'm at a loss, since we want to take him… Continue

Remy's SO awesome...

He's been here almost a year now. Despite what seemed like an endless period of potty training, it's been good. (note: We actually discovered our other dog WASN'T potty trained in this process and she was a bigger problem than he was...) He's come into his own in the last few months, turning from a skinny teenager to a "buff dude" (as my daughter refers to him). He is SO affectionate and loving, yet the bark when he sees or hears something not quite to his liking is pretty scary. (Great for…

Too Hot for Spot: Save a Dog Now!

This is from PETA, it gives you some really great ideas about what to do when you see a dog in a car and it's to hot. There are also printable fliers that you can put on car windows.

Humphrey, Our Rescudoodle

I am totally in love with my Labradoodle Phoebe. It was a firm decision to, someday, get another one. With the growing number of pets in shelters I felt it would be politically correct to try a rescue. If it were meant to be I would find a labradoodle pup to keep Phoebe company. If not, I look to the breeders.

And then…

Oh Allergies, what did my Holly do to deserve you?

As of a few days ago poor Holly has been sneezing constantly! Her nose is always running and she's itching more than ever. I'm looking in to starting benadryl or another allergy medicine to help her feel better. I'm starting to think it is the grass or something else outside, because it's so much worse when we take her out to go potty or after we've let her hang out on the deck for a while. Last night we gave her a cool bath and that seemed to help the sneezing for about an hour, then she… Continue

Brillo Pads are a BIG NO-NO

Hi guys! It's me Whopper. Thanks for all the well-wishes. I'm hanging in there but definitely in pain and don't really have much energy. I don't know what got into me Friday night...I've never eaten (or should I say swallowed) anything I wasn't supposed to but I think that thing called a brillo pad must have somehow confused me. I woke up not feeling well and my mom and dad knew that something wasn't right. I didn't want to drink or eat anything. I just wanted whatever was stuck inside of me…

The Heroic mother and the Daring doodle

It's Becky's daughter...again. My mom really has to start typing around here! Anyway, my dog, Tucker, did something extremly brave, and not to mention very stupid. Well, we were at the park, taking Tucker for a walk. We walked down to the creek to let him swim a little bit. Tucker is very scared of deep water. He would only stay in the shallow parts of the creek! I kept throwing his ball out to a deep spot in the creek, and Tucker (being a super smart dog) found a way to stick his paw out and… Continue

Callie is an Awesome Dood, Chaper 942

I'm sure it comes as no surprise to any of you that I think Callie is the greatest thing since sliced bread. One of the reasons is her "go with the flow" attitude.

Yesterday, we had quite a day planned...early morning walk, haircut (for me - Callie got groomed on Friday but she is a welcome guest at my salon), tennis match, then we were both invited over to a friend's house to visit (me with their new baby, Callie with their dogs). Callie was a dream through the whole thing.…

Awesome Day...

Hi Doods...

Just got back from my morning walk with my human mom and I just had to take some time to blog about my experiences yesterday - because it was an AWESOME day....

Saturday morning I learned that my mom had arranged a doodle romp for me and 3 other doodles in our back yard. We are all puppies - I was actually the oldest at 7 months, and most of us hadn't ever been to a dog park, so we romped in MY backyard. It was so much fun... my friend Malu was there…
