Since he's de-legged and decapitated the last of two rubber pigs (after 2 years so that's still pretty good!) and his beloved little Wal Mart latex squeaker is circling the drain (intact but getting a bit grimy and thin)...I thought it was time for Rosco to have a brand new noisy toy.
So on Sunday I took him on a mommy-doggy trip to PetCo so we could pick out just the right one. I heeled Rosco into the store and down the toy aisle and… Continue
At some point last night I vaguely recall my knee pillow (required now that my belly is expanding ever more and I'm forced to sleep on my side) ended up over the side of the bed. I was sure it probably clonked Rosco on the head, since he sleeps next to my side of the bed, but wasn't awake enough to want to check. So I just made do without it. Well at one point later (but still hours before wake up time) I woke up and flashed my phone light onto him to see where my pillow was.
This week for two nights in a row Rosco developed an obsession with the top of our bookshelf which is right next to the couch we sit on to watch TV. I don't know what he thought was up there but he kept staring and whining, occasionally a little bark.
I looked and there were NO toys up there (I have in the past put a ball or squeaky toy on top when I was sick of him making noise or bugging me by losing it under the couch, but not recently). NOTHING on top that would have interested… Continue
We're dog sitting my good friend's Moodle (Mutt + Poodle), named Amaya:
She looks very much like a full standard poodle...or at least an F1b. We know the mom was NOT a poodle and possibly was an F1 labradoodle, but she was found with a litter and ended up with a local rescue (who has no knowledge of her background). We assume the father was a poodle.
When Rosco sits and wags his tail...his wiener wags too!
It continued:
Me: ROFLMAO...wagging wiener...Heeeeeeeeeeeheeee :-) That's a funny way of asking for lunch :-) (me sneaking in a reminder to my hubby that it was past Rosco's lunch time in case he forgot).
Clark: "Please Daddy FEED ME! See?? My wiener is wagging...I'm hungry!"
That evil gleam in Rosco's eye is not merely a camera phone/lighting effect...that little gleam is there because he wasn't just being sweet and cuddly...he WANTED the bone Thule was blissfully enjoying but not quite brave enough to take it. But he sure looked cute =)
Clark and I were lucky enough to meet with Bev & Willy, Nancy & Ned (and hubby), Eileen Ross & Cody, Edith & Lucy, Richard Crowe & Holly, and Kate & Yarra (with guest Mel). Bev was kind enough to open up her beautiful home to us -- her yard is AMAZING! It's a human, kid, and doodle paradise! Though I'm not sure my photos quite captured its beauty and function.
I fell in love with Bev's blue merle goldendoodle Willy. He's just a cuddle bug and I was ready to… Continue
We are on day 4 of our summer vacation and wanted to stop by and say hello and share some photos.
We flew into Vegas late Wed night and Thursday morning began with a doodle romp with Eva (Malibu & Willow), Denice (Coco & Brianna), Sandi & Jeff (Mickey), and Renee and pink ribbon girl. Another previously non-DK doodle owner, Cheryl, also stopped by later with her two nearly identical chocolate cuties!
After the dog park Eva, Denice, and Clark… Continue
Before we go on vacation, I felt compelled to get rid of Rosco's nasty, stinky, never-can-quite-get-clean beard. But in order to do that...well...I had to trim the rest of him equally short =)
Except for the feet and slightly poor job on the ears, he's as done as my patience allows =)…
This group is fabulous...they are an improv group that does planned public "surprise" performances in quite unique ways. Sometimes they pull 'pranks' but they are always good-natured and often NICE pranks.
I've seen a few videos and recently ran across this one
So this girl (9-10?) walks by our house with a very strong, pulling pit (intact male). I've seen her once or twice before...one of those times she was holding a leash and looking for her dog.
Just now as she passes the corner of our fence her dog pulls like a monster because ours are in the yard and barking. Clark is in the front yard mowing and stops to watch cautiously. The dog runs around the corner to seek out our dogs -- who have a hole they stick their noses through to see out.… Continue
Consistently setting an alarm to help me remember to feed Rosco breakfast paid off and a few months ago I actually started remembering on my own. My other two doggies only get fed supper. But I switched Rosco to two meals because he's big, deep chested, and wolfs down his food---risk factors for bloat.
However for the past 2 weeks he's been waking up earlier than usual in anticipation of breakfast. He went from not opening his eyes until I left the bedroom to waking up and… Continue
I'm sure you've all rolled your eyes at rehome ads in the paper or elsewhere where the current dog owner claims the dog needs a new home with "room to run." As if said dog would gladly go out for a jog or sprints every morning if it weren't for the current home's dinky yard.
"Master, I love you and all...but this place isn't letting me live to my full potential as the marathon labrador I was born to be. Won't you please find me someone who has 30 acres so I can truly…Continue
This is Rosco.
He's wearing a wet towel.
He and I had just come back from a 3 mile walk held locally to support a member of our church who is fighting cancer.
The walk was supposed to be a 5K but it got reduced to a 3K due to the heat. Thank goodness, as Rosco looked horribly pathetic and hot the whole way I think we would have been in trouble.
When we finished I took him to the side of the gym where there was a hose and let… Continue
I've tossed this idea around a lot...not sure if the timing was right, etc. Was I ready? Could Clark handle it? Is there really a need for another breeder? What generation I should I breed? You know the usual issues.
But having passed some critical milestones, I wanted to share that it's now official...
Who's ready for some photos of my new 13 week old addition?
Thank you so much for your warm thoughts and the love you are sending my way. I appreciate it so much.
I'm still in shock mostly with moments of disbelief and sadness. I have been most concerned about his wife and two kids. My father's wife and their young boys are in Oregon, where he died (if any of you near Portland read the articles about a man crashing into an ODT truck...that was my father). My brother, sister and Mom are in Southern California. His youngest son doesn't quite… Continue

My father was killed in a collision today. Please pray for my family and his family. My youngest sister and his two sons will need a lot of comforting.
