"Sometimes we hurt those we love the most." This quote sprang to my mind when I saw what was left of Milton's best toy in the whole-wide world, or so I thought.…

No matter how much you love something – separation and/or distance can be healthy from time to time. The same holds true for me when it comes to “The Boys.” No one who reads our stories could dispute my unconditional love for these two creatures, but at least once or twice a year I must vanish to “replenish.”
DD (Doodle Daughter) is my “escape from Doodleville.”. Although she lives only a mere 41 miles away, weeks will sometimes add up…

I have been MIA for the last while because life has been very very busy here. The Irish Jewish community is very small but what it lacks in numbers it punches way above it's weight in actions and deeds. At it's height we had 5,000 members and now it's about 1500. We have had several Lord Mayors, Government Ministers, etc and have always figured highly in Irish public life. Lots of the community over the years left these shores like the rest of the Irish and can now be found in the USA,…

Choosing Bug was probably one of the hardest decisions I had to make! My friend was the breeder so I was given almost any pick of the litter I wanted... I of course leaned to the two smallest. The litter's mommy was the runt of her litter... and the tiniest in this litter was super tiny. I have a thing for underdogs and also teach students with special needs so of course I am always drawn to the…

Liberty is a case of neglect that was serious but didn't look bad from the outside. Liberty is a lovely Maltese-Poodle mix who is a bit less than a year old. When I picked her up from the Carson, California shelter, the shelter said that she had a "problem with her left rear leg or hip". The shelter was going to put this darling dog down the following day because her medical "problem" made her unadoptable to the general public...…

For Milton, our countless walks throughout the neighborhood are more like hunting exhibitions. He delights in yapping at clusters of birds as they up and fly away. Squirrels, also known as tree rats, are favorites to dash after in fast pursuit. As one can imagine, I am always the bothersome tag-a-long who never moves quite quickly enough for Milt to seal the deal and grab his prey. He probably thinks if I wasn't always holding him back, he would be fully able to…

I was picking up Holly from the doggie beauty parlor when I met a friend of hers there. Our groomer lets the "nice" dogs wander around the shop after they are groomed, so Holly and her friend had the run of the place.
At first I thought that the big guy was a black Labradoodle. He was a bit shorter than Holly but more powerfully built. Holly weighs 55-pounds but, I would expect that her black friend weighs at least 75-pounds; all muscle, no fat. He had coal-black wavy…

I usually love the weekends, but this one was not one of my favorites. On most weekends, you will find us out on our pontoon boat having a good time. I suppose good time is a relative term, because mostly we park our pontoon and all get in the water. …

Jeff and I just returned from quite the adventure! We tackled the continent of Asia. Well, actually, we visited Thailand. The funny part about our trip was quite frequently when I mentioned to someone that we were going there the immediate response was, "Why?" My answer to that was, "Why not?" Growing up, my dad instilled in me a great fondness for travel, and I am still quite enamored by it. There is just nothing better than immersing yourself in a completely…

This morning’s walk was the best! Talk about a strange occurrence? We had a breeze in the air! While the leaves on the trees swayed back and forth, Harley pranced, Leo strutted and I whistled a tune with an extra pep in my step at the crack of dawn! Could this mean the dreaded “heatwave”has ended?
Since the weather was pawsitively pawfect, I grabbed my keys, my liquid fuel (coffee) and we headed over to OTPR for an early romp through the…

We have been slowly trying to wean Quincy out of the crate and leave him free roam as we also increase the time home alone. Well, up until yesterday we were fairly successful, (unless you count the Goldfish Saga in Oswego).
But I guess he is still, after all, only 13 months old and still has more puppy in him! What was so funny is that he ABSOLUTELY knew he was in hot water since he was in the crate when we open the door.
…

Many of you may have noticed that Karen the Queen of the Food Group has been MIA. She's been here in CT visiting her best friend (me) and her "boys"...G & M. It took great courage for her to get on that plane after not flying for 16 years but with a "little help from her friends" she did it! We had such a fun weekend, and we were so busy that I never thought about taking out the camera. We did think of it yesterday morning, but at that point G & M had gone off to Daycare because…

We have a small bedroom upstairs that I converted to a laundry room when we re-did our upstairs bath. I have always had visions of a clean, neat area to do laundry and iron clothes! No longer would I have to travel the two full flights down to the dungeon like basement, fight my way past cartons of Christmas, Halloween, and Easter decorations, not to mention old clothes,…

It's been a good summer for Peri. She has enjoyed her human sister getting more mobile lately. Charlotte is crawling, standing up, cruising, etc... And Peri follows her everywhere! She is always on the lookout for Charlotte and continues to alert me when Charlotte wakes up from a nap, etc...
She can be found outside of Charlotte's nursery door during naptime, sitting faithfully next to her during playtime and with us getting lots of 1:1 love when C is not around. I think…

Scotty who was Nemo in Lyric's litter born 2/7/13 has been staying with us while his parents are in Hawaii--he had not yet had a haircut so I have some before and after pics--and surprise! When all the hair came off, he was identical to his mother! That is Lyric on the left in the last pic.…

It’s the 5th week, our 3rd class, and we’ve had 3 #secret, #remedial, #catchup sessions in between.
“By Doodle, I think he’s got it!”
Saturday’s class was distinct because:

As hard as it may be to believe, I don't have much to say about this one. Just a nice, relaxing time on Friday evening after work. Oh, and I bought a portable camping shower at REI for $25. I keep it in the trunk of my car, along with a microfiber towel and a couple of brushes. That way it's easier to get cleaned up onsite without getting a lot of sand and mud in the car.…
