Cooper is getting a brother!!!!!

Ok..... so Coopers brother isnt a doodle. Its a kitty!

When we got Cooper I already had 2 cats. They are now 7 (Cooper is 1 year 9 months) and right from the start Cooper has ADORED them. Even Merry who isnt interested. Pippin will walk around and Cooper will follow. Pippin will weave in between Coopers legs and Cooper will give her a lick on the head. They will occasionally snuggle. Even Merry will now sleep on the same bed or futon as Cooper.

Rua's First Grooming - Updated

I have mixed emotions...she looked so stinkin' cute with her shaggy hair look and she looks so stinkin' cute with her velvet soft hair. It really is weird...depending on which way the light hits her, she is either REALLY dark or REALLy light.

Tribute to my dad....I miss him.

It’s hard to believe that my dad has been gone for 20 years. So many of my memories of him are as clear as if they happened yesterday. Let me tell you just a little bit about what a great man he was.

He was a quiet man, but when he did speak, what he said was either profoundly wise, hilariously funny or he wanted to talk about you.

He was extremely humble. He would graciously accept a compliment but would almost always try to give the credit to someone else.

Wishing for a chemo buddy

I start chemo today for leukemia. I am blessed with a great family and wonderful friends that have all rallied around me. However, I really wish I could bring Achilles with me. He would not be a problem. Ok so he might want to great everyone there (who doesn't want a big doodle kiss?) He hardly ever barks and basically would be glued to my side. So what's the prob. My Daughter, the Adventurer

I am taking a moment to brag about my daughter. She just returned safely from a trip to Muscat, Oman (borders Saudi Arabia). She was there for three weeks, traveled the entire way by herself, and had an incredible time. When she told us she was going to Oman, I have to admit I was so worried. She got her PhD in Special Education in July and wants to travel the world. She was able to combine both by taking a temporary position to help teachers in Oman set up an inclusive school. Internet Pricing.

I don't know how I lived more than half of my life without access to the internet. But there are drawbacks like inaccurate information, spam etc. The price differential between sites boggles my mind, however. I was just looking at a travel guide book. From $7.65 to $73. Caveat emptor.

Puppy Photography

With all the new puppies that have come along lately, I thought you could use some tips on puppy photography.

Get camera, check battery power.

Remove camera case from puppy's month.

Retrieve puppy from washroom, remove toilet tissue from puppies mouth and throw in trash.

Remove puppy from trash and brush coffee grounds from muzzle.

Choose a suitable background for photo.

Mount camera on tripod, check flash and focus.

Lyric's boys are growing up--one month old today!

The pups spent their first night in the pen last night and did just fine--all was well this morning. They are now walking around and playing whenever they aren't conked out. When I stand in the pen, they paw at my pants, bite my hem and sometimes fall asleep on my slippers. I got a few great new pictures today and wanted to share them with all of the puppies' fans. Have you heard of dogs attacking a hurt, crying dog?

I'd read something about dogs attacking a hurt dog and had some experience with this. Once when Traveler was about 7 months old he was playing with his 'bro,' a mastiff/pit mix. Bro stepped on Trav's foot while they were running and Trav started yelping and whining. Three people ran over to him, and so did Bro--but Bro seemed to be in attack mode, snarling and lunging. Izzie is 2!!!

Today is Izzie's second birthday. It has been two wonderful years with this happy girl who loves to run. She has such an outgoing silly personality and we laugh at something she does every day. I don't know what we would do without her. We hope to have many, many more years with her.

Good-bye old friends

I finally broke down and went through Sheba & Duke's stuffed animals, or should I say, I finally went through what was left of their stuffed animals. These old friends have been through hours of torture. They have suffered through beheadings, loss of limbs, gutted, de-squeaked, left in the yard exposed to the elements and dropped out of car windows. They have also been well loved. Rusty's One Year Ampuversary!

A Major Milestone this week! January 25th was Rusty’s one year anniversary of his amputation!

It is hard to believe that twelve months have gone by, it seems like it was only last month that we were nursing him through recovery. Seeing him now, there is no question that we made the right decision for the amputation and Chemotherapy treatment. He is so happy and enjoys life to the fullest! Doodles know when you are sick?

I have been home sick for 2 days and both Murphy and Bella are as calm and mellow as can be. They have been quietly laying next to me and not even bringing me toys to play with them as usual. WOuld they go out and catch balls if I went outside...oh I am sure of it. So I know they are just being quiet for my sake. So sweet. Had to share.

My Do It Yourself Dog Gators! Patent Pending!

We have had a lot of snow lately and Fudge and Vern want to be out as much as possible. I am the least crafty person you will ever meet and I think my homemade gators prove this once again.
