Topper has now been in his new home for a week. Things are going very well. Mom finally left him home alone for a couple of hours and he found a couple of new play toys (a box of tissues and a pair of dads old leather shoes). He is loving the kids and goes and checks on them every night before going to sleep in mom and dads room. I know many who would really like to Foster worry that they will never be able to give up the dog when the time comes, or that they will be too sad when the dog leaves. I know for me, as I've mentioned before, the only sadness that I had was that I knew that Topper had to get used to yet another home. Everyone (my family) had their doubts about my ability to let him go when the time came. I somehow knew that would not be a problem. When he left, the tears everyone expected never came. Our little Topper left us this morning with his new daddy for his forever home in New York. He was such a big boy, behaving very well while we stood and talked, he laid at his new daddy's feet. Then once all set up in his new car harness he jumped right in the car and sat down to get buckled in. As they were pulling out of the driveway his tail was just wagging and he was standing between the seats giving his new daddy kisses.

This morning as I was worrying about my Therapy Dog Appointments for the month of March because it is already mid month and I have not even started them because of my little foster puppy here I got to thinking about Therapy Pet Testing. Although Sophie and Lucy are both registered with 2 local organizations who do their own testing, I have yet to test either of them with Delta Society because there are a couple areas I'm not sure they will pass yet. Topper has now been with us for about 10 days. When he first came it was very obvious that he had not been allowed on the furniture in his previous home. We never really encouraged him to get on the furniture, mostly because that left something for Lucy and Sophie that was still theirs. Got the tub all installed and gave first baths a couple weeks ago, so it was time for the next step. Today the new grooming table arrived and looks like it will work perfectly for getting them in and out of the tub without lifting! Lower and they jump on, raise and they jump in the tub! Already have some dirty, haircut needing doods, so if we just had a Doodle Mom that knew how to groom Doodles we would be all set! We finally had a nice sunny day in Ohio today and I think at the end of it, everyone was tired! Life is good!

We had a good laugh this morning when I logged on to DK and was looking at the dogs available for adoption. I saw that Taffy went PENDING and I said wow, that was quick, she just came up yesterday. Hubby said, oh great, are Doodles now going to be your New Real Estate? You see, we moved to Ohio from Florida 2 years ago. We got caught in the beginning of the down slide of the real estate market in FL. It took us 17 months to sell our home (not to mention the thousands in price drops). Anyway, I… Continue

Lucy and Sophie turn 2 years old today! I cannot believe that it has gone by so quickly. I remember when I found out that I needed to wait until they were a year old to start their Therapy Pet work ..... that seemed so far away. Lucy and Sophie have no idea why I just took the new rug up out of the living room and put everything back in the closets, but they will find out this evening. This is Topper, he will be coming to stay with us this evening until we find him a wonderful forever home. I'll be letting everyone know how he is doing.
