How could this be at such a young age?!?!? I am not sure with my salary that I can afford the $3800 surgery, does anyone have any suggestions, ideas, alternatives??

We are getting our goldendoodle in less than two weeks and I need help with training. Does anyone know of a good dog trainer in the Northern Virginia area? How easy/hard is it to train the dogs yourself? Any suggestions?

We awoke to Delta's 6 mini f1's this morning - little angels born in the night. I have tried all day to update our website - today was the day we changed the sitebuilder over from what we had been using to build/maintain our website and although I can see the changes as the administrator and have published them, they are not showing up on the site when viewed. Sorry, everyone! I worked on it first thing this morning and posted photos and videos! So glad Adina has made Doodle…

That is the term the doctor used today.
I had concern over the nurse's assumption that Jess would be out soon. Jess is not "medically stable" and as the social worker puts it, "the doctors still need to tweak him."
I should say, I think he has been tweaked enough.
I didn't get my morning call and was concerned.
When I phoned, Jess let me know that he was feeling very weak, although he had a decent night of sleep. He also declared that he didn't feel he would be…

I have been without internet, television, or home phone since last Thursday! I have had a chance to check in on Janet's blog from work, but not much else!
Here's Why:
Lizzie, my adorable/loving/wonderful puppy chewed through the cat-5 cable outside from the phone box. That one line had all of my connection to the outside world! I can't really get that mad though, because it was really poorly installed and just laying across my back deck. Plus, she was outside while I was…

We had our intial vet visit this morning. You know the one where they check out the pup to make sure everything is ok. It was part of our health guarantee and a good idea I think. Well Fenway came with us because we had a play date after the appointment and I didn't want to have to go back to the house to get her. Anyway, I am constantly amazed by these doodles. With two doodles, one I had to hold because I'll be darned if I was putting him down on the floor at the vet, and one on a leash in a…

I think I am losing focus as I feel as though I am going through the terrible two's with my little girl and I cannot see the end at the light of the tunnel--at least not tonight. Oh how I adore her but, boy, would I love that potty issue resolved shortly and, while I am at it, how about not pulling my arm out of my socket when we attempt--and I mean merely attempt--to walk on leash. I used to be so against the idea of a Gentle Leader as I really wanted Phoebe to learn with a standard leash and…

We are so excited! Just received the announcement from our breeder. The puppies were born this morning at 5a.m.
Two females and four males! We are beyond excited! To think I'd only looked on the website once today for any news. Guess we better start some serious puppy shopping now! :-D

Toby is doing well with training - class three of Grade One obedience is under our belts. Well....he's doing well at home. At class, he is not demonstrating all the brain power that he has. He is pulling, being goofy, going after other people's treats, etc. So I thought, to help with the pulling, I would get the Easy Walk Harness. Two instructors have recommended the Gentle Leader, but after a very brief demo session with Toby, it became clear that is was going to be a BIG struggle to use.…

Oh dear, we practiced with Pongo on the lead today as we are going away at the weekend when he will finally be allowed to walk out in the countryside!! Hmm..... slight difficulty in getting him to walk. He point blank refuses.. and when I try to guide him (drag him) he cries like never before... I've posted a discussion to try and get some help with this... my own fault really for not trying him with the lead much before... I didn't anticipate this much hassle!!!

Jesse has been calling me in the morning. This is when his voice is the strongest. Tough coach that I am, I made him do some vocal exercises. I thought he was sounding pretty good. Evidently the speech therapist did too – instead of exercises she tested Jess with some ice chips – he did well, reporting that the ices tasted like heaven. It was on to the swallow test to assess if his epiglottis closes.
Somehow, Jess dislodged his nose feed tube. It must have been wishful thinking. As…

Wednesday, Max is going in to be neutered.
He will be 4 months old to the day. His vet didn't want to neuter him until 6 months old but, Max has been "humping" everything in site. He also started marking his territory last night by lovingly peeing on his plush toy cow. Betsy wasn't having it! - LOL
So, this morning, I decided to call another vet and make an appointment for the BIG snip.
They say hindsight is 20/20.
If anyone has any advice on how I…

Charlie visited vet today. She got clearn bill of health, free from the Kennel Cough.
She is now 16 weeks and 22 lb. So, I predict her to be around 55 lb as an adult.
She lost her two front teeth, too.
She is moving on to pre-schooler puppyhood!!

Rusty is growing so fast and he doesn't realize how big he is... he keeps trying to go to his old "hiding" places and he just doesn't fit anymore. I took a little nap the other day and didn't put Rusty in his crate... cuz he was sleeping by the bed... well, I woke up to him SCREAMING.. not whining.. SCREAMING.. I sat bolt upright, looked around, I can't see him.. I hop out of bed and run to the bedroom door.. no.. the screaming is coming from inside the bedroom... uhhhh... under the bed.. I…

I wish you could see what she is doing. If I go outside to video, I know they will stop. Little Lucy is on a long cable tied outside. Fergie has run of the whole yard since we have an inv. fence and she knows her boundaries. She is so cute. She stays just in the boundaries that Lucy is able to go to. Lucy is chasing her and she is chasing Lucy. The cutest thing is Lucy never has to go to the end of her leash. They are just bee-bopping around out there like nuts. This is probably why Lucy at 9…

How easily we forget how time consuming a puppy can be. I swear, I can't remember Fenway being like this. Although Dustin is one of the most mellow pups I've ever encountered, he sure does know how to get in trouble and he has a set of lungs on him that an opera singer would be envious of. I remember Fenway not liking her crate very much during the day, but she would quiet down pretty quickly. Not Dustin, he screams and screams and screams. He will finally settle down and immediately drift off…

So, how many times can two people check a web site to see if puppies have been announced???? The answer is how many hours are there in a day? Nothing in the email yet & nothing on the website. This is almost as bad as being pregnant without the labor, weight gain & morning sickness! ;-) I'm expecting the puppy will bark back but, with 4 kids and three of those teenage boys, what's an occasional bark? Guess we will keep ourselves entertained by shopping for the puppy. :-)
