Hey, some of you may remember my post about the dog that was howling and crying on the porch in the apartment below me. Well, it stopped for a couple of weeks but just started up again today. It has reminded me that I never updated you guys on what I found out. After leaving notes we finally talked to the guy, and found out that it was happening because the dog is/was in heat. (not sure if she still is and that is why the whining has started up again)
He has two dogs. A Husky…

What a rescue can accomplish…
Both our boys, Clifford and Cloud, are rescues. Clifford came to us 13 months ago at the age of 10 months, he was found abandoned by Joe Louis Arena in downtown Detroit and was naturally afraid of cars as I’m sure he spent time dodging them before being rescued. Cloud found his way to our home and hearts 6 months ago at the age of 2 years, after being found as a stray by animal control. Cloud was afraid of anything we carried yet after some practice he… ContinueAdded by Clifford, Cloud, Jake..and Kim on May 31, 2011 at 9:08am — 20 Comments

My daughter moves to Oregon tomorrow. We live in Pennsylvania. I have been alternating between feeling sad and mad about this since she gave me the news. My best friend said she knew I was upset when I lost my sense of humor. I blame myself and my husband. We were stupid. All the while our kids were growing up, we told them they could do anything and be anything. What we should have said is, “You can be anything and do anything within a 100 mile radius of your parents. If it is…

We are fostering Sophie who is a beautiful, well-trained and loving labradoodle who will not turn four years old until near the end of July. Sophie developed bladder stones and her owners dropped her off at a vet and told him to put her down because they dis not want to pay for her surgery. Doodle rescue Consortium, Inc. paid for the surgery and we are fostering this darling girl until she is well enough to go to her "furever" home.…

We're just back from spending three days at the beach with the kids and six grandkids. We broke all records for chaos. What amazes me is how well my Doods handled the whole thing....way better than their Mom. The house is right on the water and the other beach houses are very close together. Everyone has kids and multiple dogs and cats....and they roam free. There are no "leash rules" at the beach...actually there are no rules whatsoever at the beach. There's a little beach store right…

I recently returned from Italy and I'm hoping someday to return to normal in terms of mental functioning and sleeping. It is six hours later there than here. The flights were good and on time! The weather was great except for half of one day. The scenes are quaint and beautiful and impressive...The people are lovely except when they're driving. We had some wonderful meals. Good desserts! Overall it was a good trip but...
Biggest mistake, we had no GPS or city map until we were in the…

Ok, I posted this this morning in the food group, but after reading Jennifer and Jack's post about gratitude I've calmed down a bit and I can see the humour in the situation afterall, even though it's now 7:30 and the poop smell still lingers. I thought I'd share it in my blog so everyone can get a kick out of it.

Just when I thought things were looking up, Sophie did something she's never done before. She pooped in…

It has been a long road for me the past several years, I lost someone I loved dearly to a horrible lung disease, I actually held his hand and watched him take his last breath, and a few months later, I lost another best friend to the same disease, I moved out of my home state to a state virtually with only knowing one family that is only here part time at best. I have had to give up my job for the most part, my health has nose dived dramatically and to boot my closest friend down here, a…

To all my Doodle friends I just want you all to know how much of an emotional escape Doodle Kisses has been for me the last almost three weeks. You have no idea how much it helped me get through some bad times by just taking a few minutes to read all the comments.
My mother would have been 90 this September. Over the last 5 years she developed Type 2 Diabetes, Dementia, could not walk and became incontinent. We had three wonderful girls who took care of her in her home…

but if the shoe fits - Rooney is a traitor. My velcro puppy. How can this be? Rooney and I had gone to the airport to pick up my daughter who is here for the holiday. Roo is always a wagging machine when dh comes home from NYC but what he proceeded to do when dd got in the puppy hauler - OMG! He wasn't just wagging, he was shaking from head to tail while trying to wag - I've never seen him do anything like that! He was trying to climb out of his car seat and having a total melt down. …

I worked ( In a process of quitting this job ) as a chemical dependency therapist for the people in a halfway house, probation or pre-trial, with drug and alcohol dependency. I was a bit scared when I first got this gig.....
Today was a sentencing hearing for one of my client. He is in early 20's, I beleive he was in special ed as a student. He sold cocain to support his habit, also to have friends and social status.
On the flip side, he was the most punctual, respectful and…

This is heartbreaking but we can't forget the canine and feline victims of the recent tornado in Joplin, MO. Here is a link to The Humane Society of Joplin, Mo http://www.joplinhumane.org/ If you can even donate $10 every cent will count. There are so many that are now lost from their families.
You can also donate through www.doggyloot.com

When we first got Fudge and she was still a little puppy, I had big dreams of volunteering with her at the Assisted Living Facility where I volunteer. The breeder assured me she was the calmest dog in the litter, and if by calm she meant reactive to every living thing that moves, then I would agree. Before I got too carried away, I decided to take her over to the Assisted Living place and see how she did. My good friend is the receptionist there and calls herself…
