My friend Krista sent this - just wanted to share a few minutes of sweetness. None of us here in DK would ever say 'it's just a dog'!

It's been a busy summer and I have not had a chance to post Clarke's latest accomplishment. Back in June, Clarke (and I) took the AKC CGC test and passed. He is a Canine Good Citizen now. We have trained with Pat Lacy at Dog Lover's Obedience School. And then Pat invited us to join Therapy Dog and Associates. We went on our first event last week. Clarke is lucky because his great grandmother (human) lives at Westminster Canterbury so he has had a good training ground there on our visits to see…

Judy and I did a once in a lifetime (for us anyway) trip to China this Spring and had a marvelous time visiting, Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, Yangshuo, Shanghai and other cities. The Chinese people were friendly and open and the country was extremely interesting. If anyone might be interested in seeing my pictures of China, they are located at:

As I was cleaning out a puppy pen today, I put their bowl of kibble on the bed. Wrong move! When I turned around for the bowl, there was an empty bowl and my doodle up on the bed.
Later this evening, Holly began to wretch. Luckily I got her off the bed because she deposited a load of undigested kibble on the floor which fortunately is tile....
That's why I don't feed her kibble and stick to the much more expensive raw food diet.

We're on our waaaaayyy :) I will put updates and photos into this blog as I'm able!
UPDATE #1 (12:53 pm PST): Diane called 10 min ago and reported they are on their way with Boca. She was happy, wiggly, tail wagging and seemingly unstressed. Diane said she is tiny but substantial :) Get ready Rosco!
Update #2 (3:28 PM PST): Oh MY DOODLE!!! She is a doll! Very sweet, relaxed, friendly and adorable. We met up with Diane and her hubby about an hour ago in a shopping complex and…

I have just returned from the airport, and after dropping off a very sweet puppy, called Boca.
We picked her up yesterday afternoon and held her overnight. What an absolute sweetie she is and her new family are going to be so over the moon.
My two doodles were head over heels in love with her and the cat didn't bat an eyelid, either.
She has a litter sister that still needs a home, if you are on the hunt for a new doodle...…

Most of you will remember we adopted a second doodle to our family from DRC. It's only been a little over a month but, Rosco has continued to surprise us with his funny little antics. His temperament is great and he is eager to please. He is an early riser and loves to sit and watch the birds & rabbits in our back yard..(of course we don't him out to chase them)but, he gets' so excited just watching through the window. He'll come running… Continue

You sometimes forget how much your doodles have grown, so to put it into perspective here are pics of Quincy taken at same location about a year apart. Of course this year he had to climb up himself, he's not so easy to lift…

I learned a lesson about procrastination today. See, we bathe Darwin quite a bit. And I know you are supposed to buy ear wash, put cotton balls in their ears, pluck hair, etc. to avoid ear infections. But we don't have any ear wash, and he has never had an infection before so I just put off buying it. For some reason I just didn't worry.
Well, we went to a lake this past week, and guess who got an ear infection? Yep, poor Darwin has yeasty, red ears. We took him to the vet…

We recently realized a huge coincidence that I thought I would share. I can't decide if it's more horrible, or hilarious. I'll let you decide.... :-)
At our old apartment complex, we had a very, very annoying dog living nearby. The culprit?
That's right, a Jack Russel Terrier. Some people love the feisty, fearless attitudes of…

Got away for a few days (without the doods) to a campsite in the Adirondacks--While kayaking, I passed a family in a canoe with a young goldendoodle. We had a nice chat about the website and I told the owner to check it out. (I do that every time I meet a new doodle owner-I wonder if anyone does it?) Anyway, her cute little doodle had just gone swimming and she noticed how matted he was underneath the surface fluff. I was so glad I was a DK member and had learned about puppy coats and the like…

Well, after treating Bennie for 10 1/2 months for congestive heart failure, he was finally too sick to go on. So I put him to sleep last night.
Malu liked to try and play with Bennie, but mostly just ended up agitating him. I didn't think he seemed like he was going to be sad about the loss (or my dog Bling for that matter, who I am pretty sure wishes she was the only dog in the WORLD) but this morning they were both moping about the house and acting pretty depressed. We…

Another Dog Oriented Post from Kid-Free Living.com!
We taught our Labradoodle Gordon to fetch the paper, a trick we previously thought only existed in Disney movies. We deemed this accomplishment solid proof that we had The Smartest Dog in the World and that we, ourselves, might be gifted dog whisperers. We bragged. We waited until…

Just want to say a big thank you to DK and it's members. I have gotten so much good information, lots of entertainment and more than a few good laughs. If not for DK I would be moving along blissfully unaware of all the things I was doing wrong for Quincy. He'd probably be eating crappy dog food and be a matted mess. I look forward to checking in every day to see what's new and to see what's happening to everyone the good and sometimes not so good.I love the way I get to meet people that I…

Holly has had such a great summer so far! We have officially made it a month with no diarrhea!! I'm so excited about this. Our new vet did blood testing and everything came back normal. He decided she either has food allergies or just a very sensitive stomach. We've had her on a digestive supplement all month which seems to be helping a ton. Now we're weaning her off to see if she can stay free of diarrhea without the enzyme. If not we may have to keep her on it long term. She still has mildly…

I love to make homemade blankets and toys for my labradoodle, Moose. He is always so appreciative! So I decided to make more homemade items and attempt to sell them. I decided on the name Barkcessories and got busy sewing. Moose was so curious about what I was doing. He watched intently as I made blanket after stealing the items I had made. I guess he thought that they were all for him! What a goofy doodle! Moose came with me to a local art festival to try to sell our creations. Moose is doing…

We are so thankful for Holly's wonderfully mellow and calm personality. We have just received two Maltese Rescue pregnant females and Holly has welcomed them into our home. These two girls were rescued from a non-air conditioned garage in Las Vegas, NV where the temperature was 120 degrees. They had no food or water and would heve died if they were not rescued. Apparently, the Las Vegas animal shelter is terrifically over-crowded and is a high kill type of shelter; so American Maltese Rescue…
