Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
This month has been CRAZY! The last few weeks have really got me spinning... kinda' like I was in the middle of a hurricane, oh wait! I WAS! And possibly even a tornado. What the DOODLE? Long Island does NOT have these weather extremes usually. Oh, and did I mention we had a pretty big tremor from the earthquake in Virginia? Just what is going on here? I was so happy to get away and go on that dream vacation to Hawaii that we waited so long for. Not even paradise could keep me…

All around the USA, kids are either back in school or almost ready to head back to class. My girls have long since been out of school, but I remember those days like they were yesterday. I actually liked having my kids home for the summer, but sometimes, depending on the year, I looked forward to them returning. I didn’t always like the homework, the schedules, and the regimented routine, but for years, it was just a way of life.
When your children are…

Miley joined us on August 6th severely underweight, scared to death and only 9 months old. During the first 8 months of her life Miley received little to no socialization or training which makes everything seem so much scarier.
Miley is making progress daily, has gained 4 pounds and is a sweetheart. Until Miley can gain more weight it is not even safe for her…

Last night we had scare. Let me preface this by saying my DH is OK!
Around 9:30 pm, DH lost his sight in the periphery of his eyes, his remaining vision became blurred and he was disoriented and very "off". I had never seen him this way (he does not have migraines) and started to WebMD the symptoms. Peri immediately came up to him and started whining, put her head on his lap and tried to calm him down. It was so odd. She knew something was up. Taquito ran to his crate,…

Murphy's biopsy results are in and it is melanoma.
We are headed to LSU Vet School tomorrow to meet with the oncologist.
I pray that it is localized. I don't know how I could have found it any sooner.

For my birthday this year, I was finally able to get a DSLR camera, which I have been wanting for such a long time! I had a smallish budget but circumstances being as they were, it was basically buy one now or buy one 4 years from now. If any of you knew me in non-cyber world you would know that waiting is almost impossible for me. :-)
I chose the Canon t1i, and I think it is a really great camera, one that I can do SO much more with than my point and shoot. I have studied…

Believe it or not, I have been a proud member of Doodle Kisses for about 15 months and have never started a discussion or written a blog. Sure, I have added a comment to several hundred pictures and to many discussions and blogs, but I guess I have been more of a "lurker" than anything. Most of you know SO much more about training and food and all other things "doodley" so I have taken a back seat and have read and learned and just enjoyed being a part of it all. Well...now I have…

Hard to believe Maggie has already been with us for over a month now, and that she is 10 months old.
We survived the cold/allergy bout she had for almost 3 weeks. I am convinced it is allergies, and will monitor this closely.
So we decided she needed a good bath after having a runny nose for weeks and that maybe a little trim would be in order: BIG MISTAKE.
We want to try and keep her coat shaggy, and she doesn't really have a thick coat. I have always had labs so…

I woke up this morning at around 8:30 and I slumped downstairs to find my grandmother saying goodbye to mom who was going to work. I hugged my mom goodbye and Tucker jumped up and pushed me right out of the way. He snuggled my mommy and we all laughed. After my mommy left, Kate and I made GET WELL cards for our friend Celena, who has cancer. We are going to visit her in the hospital later tonight. After we cleaned up all the glitter and marker stains, I went upstairs to find a present for…

Well it's two days away from our DD & SIL honeymoon to Greece. We were all set to take Lily the 2 year old boxer into our home for a 2 week stay while their friend was going to stay at their home to watch Sophie the 6 year old boxer/beagle mix, still convalescing from her back surgery.
Well as luck (for me at least) would have it their sitter for home can not do it after all. What does that mean for us you might ask, well that means Daisy and I get a 2 week vacation from cooking…

Yesterday was our training class with the dogs. The class had been moved to a new location and this was our first time there. Again, our class consists of German Shepherds, Belgian (Malinois) Shepherds, and Fudge and Vern. I should take a picture so everyone can see which dogs are not like the others. The trainer breeds these dogs and many of the class participants are his former puppies, and it is obvious he is partial to this breed. He says comments from time to time about…

Most of the time when people see Luna from the back I can understand why they would think she is a duck tolling retriever (nickname "toller"). She has very similar colouring and is almost the same size as one. Most people are very nice about it, and when I say she isn't one they ask about what she is and are surprised to hear she has poodle in her.
That is the second most common comment other than the "wow is she a full retriever?" or "someone shrunk your retriever in the…

And so it came to pass that on the sixth night we went out for the first time and had a ball!
Yesterday was eventful enough and started out with a cut paw which left Doodle blood traces around the kitchen and on my couch. Following some DIY nursing care and lots of advice from my friends here we settled down and continued the day as planned. Slight change of plan as I had intended to take Riley to the football pitch but of course hadn't reckoned on it actually being in…

Ok, I am so mad. Here's what's going on....
1) I have been growing Charlie's legs' fur for quite sometime now. Some of you may know, but she has shaved face, short cut body and long fur on the legs. I just think it is cute on her. But because of matting, getting wet in the water, etc... I have not been able to grow her legs' fur as long as I wanted them to be, until recently. I have been combing, ( I found the comb that works really wel and Charlie does not mind this comb ) faithfully…

Another week with my pup and I feel like I don't remember life before Cooper! I love this little guy so much it's ridiculous.
He continues to do well and is growing like a weed. He's up to 18 lbs (at 11 weeks) and seems to be clumbsier the bigger he gets! We had a week free of accidents (yah!) but his first little puke. It was this morning in his crate and it was clear liquid. It hasn't happened since and his stools are normal so I'm not too fussed. …

We have a child's wading pool that Monty (used) to love. We were able to say to him, "go swimming Monty" and he would run off the deck and jump in his little pool. It is almost always filled with water and he would jump in and out of it on a regular basis. Ever since we went to the ocean, he won't even get in it!
The only thing I can come up with is that we went to the real ocean in July. Of course we said we were swimming in the ocean and Monty loved it. So much so that one day…

Well I am disgusted that in my local paper there is a 5 month old Labradoodle for adoption through our local OSPCA. The cute little white fluff ball was surrendered by its owner. The poor little guy had his tail docked because he wagged it so much and was getting bigger and knocking things over with it. If I had the vet by the tail that did this I would put a little nick in his behind and see how it feels!
On a similiar note when in the city my son lives in last week while driving we…

Hello everyone! Boy did I miss you guys while on vacation for the past 10 days! I don't think (even in my busiest times) that I have ever been off DK as much as I have during these past 10 days! I have missed many posts and TWO YAPPY HOURS!!! I have to admit, I did peak and got to comment a bit during the early mornings while waiting for 'the boys' to wake up and late at night....it actually worked in my favor that there was a six hour time difference (well 3 hours for you…
