Labradoodle to the Rescue!!
DOG SUFFERS RATTLE-SNAKE BITES TO SAVE OWNER
Just last month in Sierra Vista, Ariz., a Labradoodle named Phillip (pictured left) saved his new owner, Linda Reynolds (also pictured left), and her other dog, a Labradachshund, from a rattlesnake that invaded Reynolds' sun porch. According to an article in the Sierra Vista Herald, "The 11-month-old chocolate Labradoodle placed himself in harm’s way as he nudged Reynolds and Jake [Labradachshund]…

Toby is being a royal, pain in the bottom, jerk today, and has been for a couple of weeks. Tonight he was darting around, jumping, barking (which he never does), and just being a nuisance, and a rotten dog. Maybe it's because the weather is changing, time changed....I don't know. but whatever it is should stop, promptly. Currently he is having a time out in his crate, which hasn't happened for quite some time. He's also coming off a week where he has some stomach issues, and is just getting…

These days I don’t dare leave Harlow out of my sight; otherwise she finds something to chew on. Besides more than a few shoes, socks, and other objects over the last few weeks; today she destroyed Sherlock’s doggie bed. I came home to find dog bed stuffing strewn all over the kitchen. Poor Sher was laying forlornly on what was left of his doggie bed cover. Looks like I will be doing some sewing this weekend.

The doodles had their annual check-up today and each has their issues to deal with now.
Rosco is as healthy as a horse and weighs as much as one too. He has gained approximately
14 pounds in the last year (from age 2.5 to age 3.5)! I knew he was getting a little chunky but would never have guessed he'd have gained THIS much. He's now about 95 lbs. We don't give out treats often so it isn't that. My poor always-starvin' boy is gonna go on a teeny bit of a diet now much to his…

I'm pretty excited about tomorrow, but a little nervous! We will be babysitting Fozzy Bear's brother Murphy this weekend! Did I mention he out-weighs Fozzy by 36 pounds??? No kidding - when Fozzy weight 47 pounds he weighed 74 - I believe he is now at 86 lbs!
Fozzy has really been lonely since Boomer has been gone, I think this will be very good for him. It should be interesting anyway. Murphy has not had any training yet, so going for walks should be pretty comical to the rest of…

Bad day in the Sullivan house....I apologize in advance for a lengthy email.
Since Saturday, Peri (mini doodle) has had the sneezes and a runny nose. I decided to take her in today because her symptoms have not improved and her snot was yellow (so sorry for that nasty description). She had a fever and the cold/virus has turned into a bacterial infection. So she is on antibiotics and antihistamines - I am glad I took her in! The vet said she thought it could have been the dog flu, but…

I am heading to Florida in December and so is Ann Giesige. We are going to try and get together with our doodles. She will be in the Naples area and I will be in Kissimmee. Is anyone else from Florida or going to Florida that would also like to meet up with us? It would be fun to meet other members of DK.

Reading Chelsea's "A Good Doodle Day" Blog got me to thinking back to when I was potty training Lucy and Sophie. As I think back on it, it seems like it went fairly smoothly (now that it was 1.5 years ago). However, I can vaguely remember thinking will it ever be completely done. They got it fairly quickly, but I had to get trained to know that if they were busy they would forget. So, if they were playing hard in the house, you needed to stop the play and get them outside (this was even after…

It is exactly one week today that we have had our little 8 week old "bundle of joy" (smirk) Piper. It has been an emotionally draining week for sure...thinking that our breeder had tricked us into spending a ridiculous amount of money for a vampire who loves to pee on everything and was sent to destroy our house. :o)
But we are starting to get into the swing of things and been working on everything and it feels like we have had breakthroughs on all fronts! As my hubs said, who…

So we took Harper into Petsmart to get her final "puppy package" grooming. This typically includes a bath, brush/dry out, nail trim, ear cleaning and cute little bow. Since she isn't quite 5 months old, she still definitely has that puppy look, and is such a cute little fluffball! She has however been matting a little lately, and there were a few under her chin that we haven't been able to fully take care of when brushing her at home...
Well Zach brought her in while I was at work,…

So I just had the worst weekend imaginable at work. I was the charge nurse all weekend, and it was just one bad thing after another..it was a labor & delivery nurse's worst nightmare. I've been a nurse for a year now, and I can honestly say I've had plenty of bad nights, but this one topped them all. So I went home, and slept for a few hours..waking up to Bentley barking for some attention. God bless him for that...kisses and cuddles from him were the best thing I could've asked for to…

I had thought we had weathered our first Halloween with Phoebe very well including her acceptance of being dressed up and walking with us facing all the revellers on our night trick or treating. Last night, I put all the costumes away and everything was great. This morning, two of my boys had taken the cat mask back out and had left it on our living room chair--unbeknownst to me, of course--where Phoebe got it and ate the wire out of the whiskers. Thankfully, my oldest son caught in her the act…

The girls and I had a ball at the dog park we "discovered" when we went to the Humane Society fund raiser back on October 10th. There were about ten dogs there (this is a very rural area, so that is a lot!) and there was another doodle and a poodle that got along great with my two dogs. They just loved running around with all the dogs...it was a great success. Can't wait to go back!
