[I just had a lovely message from my Breeder telling me all about the puppies and how she is going to allocate them at 6 weeks. Photo's coming very soon she said. I told her I would blog the journey home and the early weeks and she is delighted about that].
Since it is Mother's Day in the US I thought I would tell you some stories about my eldest child Jessica who is now 30 years old. These memories are as clear now as when they happened. This is…

Took Riley to a indoor dog park (Fido's) yesterday that has a large pool. He dawned his life vest with a handle on the top of it. They had a few different doggie entry platforms and a exit dock. Well, as he does with everything he sat at pool edge and surveyed the situation. When I pushed him lightly and coaxed him to go in, he put his wheels in four wheel lock. Kept the pressure on and he was in. Of course, he made a bee line of the shortest route back to the pool edge. The…

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! For the first year ever on this Mother's Day, I have a brand new son-in-law. I grew up with two sisters and had two daughters, so adding a son to the family has been fun. When my daughter got married last June, they wanted to know what my new SIL should call me. I didn't really like all the suggestions they were coming up with and I had to mention, more than once, to my DH that I did not want to be called mother anything and finally said I had…

If being a mother means putting your "child" first, giving the best you have to them and going without yourself. If it means you do for them even if you are tired, sick, run down, too busy or flat out exhausted. If it means when they are real little you take them potty every twenty minutes, if it means you celebrate each landmark they make, such as sit, stay, walk, heel, (or crawl, walk) whatever, If it means worrying over making the right decision, worrying about not worrying enough,…

As some of you might have heard already Benny was chosen to take part in the Dog Whisperer European Live Tour.
The show took place in Amsterdam and my boyfriend taped our "performance" with the Iphone as cameras were not allowed.
Sorry for the bad quality but the sound is alright so I won't write the whole story down but you can have a look yourselves.
Here is the link:

Happy birthday to my favorite pup in the whole wide world! We are going to spend the day on a long walk, a trip to the pet store, cuddling, and lots of other fun for him. I can't believe he's already 2 years old, time really has flown!

Guinness has a whole ritual that he goes through in the morning. When the sun is coming in through the bedroom windows, he gets up on our bed for his morning nap. He has a "set way" he likes to have the pillows arranged, and he'll move them around until he gets them perfectly placed, so he's cozy and the sun is hitting him. It's really cute to watch this little procedure, and when he finished the other day and finally laid down for his "nap", I grabbed the camera. Murphy was happily…

I was excited for today - an entire day to just spend with Rooney & my DH - it doesn't happen often at our house. After our morning coffee we headed out with Roo for our usual morning walk, about 2.5 miles on a beautiful, paved hike/bike path through the FL marsh. I used to be afraid to do it with just Rooney and I but in the past 6 months have gotten over that. Yes - you keep your eye out for cougars - one was seen just last week, but the black bears and wild pigs have been removed. …

There are two wonderful parts to this! Mother's Day and article in a magazine.
First...Mother's Day. I was in 7th heaven when I got the mail yesterday (I normally don't...as soon as I come home I take Rua out) and there were two cards in the mail to me. One from Puffy (aka PuffDog) and one from Rua. Haven't opened them yet, since Mother's Day isn't until Sunday. But, I was thrilled. My DH has always help the cat, PuffDog, get a card...but this time, both were mailed. …

Just got a call from the vet. Penny came through surgery (to remove the mast cell tumor) with flying colors. I go to pick her up in about an hour. Final biopsy results will be in sometime next week. Then, we'll know whether or not she has to go through chemo.
Time to go out and buy some new T-shirts for my baby, to protect those stitches. I don't know HOW I'm going to keep her and Biscuit from conducting their regularly-schedule wrestling smackdowns!
A…

Much better this week. Audible sigh of relief.
Bernie held his sit-stays and his down-stays in class. For 3 minutes each! This was a major deal. As a number of Doodle owners know, they can be a very social breed.
It's been tough for Bernie to adjust to being in a confined space with other dogs and having ZERO play time, and even more difficult, sniffing or even paying attention to other dogs is discouraged. Although I…

I am currently babysitting my younger siblings this week while my parents are away on a 25th anniversary trip. Because my parents are gone, I have been keeping Darwin in the house with us, (bad me!) and of course, he is doing great. My siblings are really getting a kick out of the "indoor dog" novelty. Anyways, my sister thought she was SO hilarious when she printed this sign for our front door. :-) I think it will scare off any potential intruders for sure... LOL

I've been reminded that I forgot to post after last week's session! Let me be honest, it may have been select amnesia.
We were warned that at some point during the 10 weeks the dogs will likely have a spell of forgetfulness, where they act like they've learned nothing. Well Bernie, the ever-consistent over-achiever, started last week.
In class his sit-stays and down-stays were wretched! He'd stay for about 5 seconds before attempting to come to me. Our instructor agreed, based…

So, yesterday on his walk, Ollie decided that a dead animal on the road would be fun to roll into. Had to take him in for a bath at the local self service dog wash. Everything changes at bath time. My spunky, happy little doodle boy disappears and is replaced by a whimpering, simpering, long-suffering dog who acts like he is on his way to a torture chamber. He also looks completely different. he looks black instead of brown and skinny :-) Here is the proof...
Luckily his attitude…

Hope nobody is offended by this joke, at least I hope it's just a joke, which I got in tonight's email. The dog's plight would be tragic if true and the preferable word would be peeing I guess.
PHONE REPAIR
A Kansas farm wife called the local phone company to report her telephone failed to ring when her friends called - and that on the few occasions, when it did ring, her dog always moaned right before the phone rang.
The telephone repairman proceeded to…

We just returned home from a short visit to Southern California visiting family and friends. I am so proud of my puppy, she was just the best little traveler. It was a 10 hour car ride and she was just chillin' the whole way (much more tolerent than her mom who got a little cranky towards the end of the long haul) She was a perfect little house guest and did so well at the dog friendly restaurant we went to. My DH was pleasantly surprised as he was a little apprehensive of the idea of taking…
