Sunday at Flyball Even Better!!!

We were hoping that Halas would pick up Sunday where he left off Saturday, and he did not disappoint. He ended Saturday on a positive note, and Sunday was a great day. He ran in 5 of our team's 6 races today. Early in the day, we decided that we'd keep him out of the last race, because he would probably be getting pretty tired by then. Our races today were 4 heats, and my little guy ran a total of 17 heats in those 5 races. Most of his runs were clean, and in the couple where he messed up and… Continue

I got to meet my puppy a day early!!!

Where to start? Dh was feeling very sad that he wasn't going to with me to see the new puppies tomorrow - and to find out if our little guy was really our Rooney. My poor husband flys home from NYC to our home in Ft. Myers every Thurs. or Fri. and flys back out again on Monday - hey - in todays world - it is a job.

So I send our dear, sweet breeder a note on Saturday asking if there was any way to move the appointment - she was very…

Rusty's Mini-Vacation & Good News from the Vet

September 12, 2010

On Wednesday, August 25th (which was Rusty’s seven month Ampuversary) we headed to the Central California Coast to celebrate Rusty’s Grandmothers’ 89th birthday. We gave Rusty his oral Chemo treatment on Tuesday which was a day early, but we wanted him ready for the trip on Wednesday. It is 350 miles from the desert to my mother’s which is a long ride for him. We stopped in Ventura which is the half-way point for an In-N-Out burger, including a patty for Rusty, and… Continue

Saturday at Flyball

We're at another flyball tournament this weekend. The last one we were at (3 weeks ago) was pretty large, and Halas was a little overwhelmed. He managed to do his first clean run that weekend, but that was his only clean run the whole weekend. We've been working on distractions, etc. at practice, but it's hard to recreate a tournament atmosphere at practice. So, today, we started out just running him during warm-ups, not running during races. Our team had 6 races today, 5 heats each. On our… Continue

My husband is seeing all kinds of Doodles at the Zoo..doodlegoats, doodledonkey's..

I know most of you will think I'm crazy for posting this but I got such a chuckle at our recent trip to the zoo last Sunday.....We got to the zoo and started at the petting zoo part first. We were feeding the goats and all of a sudden there was this white one and my husband looked over at me and said look this one is part Doodle (it was the only one in there like it), I have to say I kinda agreed, then we went inside to see the horses and donkeys (it was hot out so they were inside sorry my… Continue

Aunt Sarah says deer poop is the breakfast of champions. I want to be a champion.

The past couple of days have been nice, though I spent more time in the crate than usual. I'm starting to like it now that I'm bigger, and Mom took out the blanket that makes me hot. It's a stupid blanket with funny looking things that Mom calls penguins. I'd drag it out of the crate and pee on it. I think she got the message.

Yesterday I saw Mom do the things she does when we're going to go for a car ride or if she's…

Doodle Decorating gone too far!

If you haven't seen it.... here is the link: http://www.doodlekisses.com/profiles/blogs/shelby-doodle-exploring-a-new I had gotten such great feedback from you all including an offer from Murphy (of Guinness and Murphy) to go into business together.... that I decided…

WTD? Now You Swim!

OK, so now that summer is almost over, my darling Quincy who all summer wouldn't go in the water past his belly decided today would be the day that he learned how to swim. We were at our favorite ball playing place, a lovely meadow near a pond, it had rained earlier in the day so I ended up with a somewhat dirty doodle. I was planning on giving him a bath anyway, so I was just going to give him a quick dip in the pond to get the dirt off before getting in the car. We were just ready to leave… Continue

Outside my window this morning

I have my office set up in what use to be our living room. My computer table is situated so I can look out the window to my front yard. This morning I was surfing DK (just like I do every morning) when a large fluttering object caught my eye. I was able to grab my camera and got a picture of ...

a Red Tail Hawk sitting in a small dogwood tree. As I was focusing my camera to get…

I'm meeting my new puppy for the first time on Monday!

Finally! I am going to get to meet my puppy, not just see his adorable self in a video or photo sent by the breeder. And I'm nervous - like blind date nervous! He will be 4 weeks old this Tuesday and I am driving 3 hours up to the breeders home for my first 'face to muzzle". Typically I wouldn't be meeting him in person (dog?) this early but I am traveling to Europe and will be gone for a bit so I need to do this before I leave.

Need to do…

Nothing to do with Doodles Baby Bragging just because

Just because I think she's the cutest thing. Clark was gone today so I made a video for him and here you can see some of her 'tricks':

Miss Nataliepoo is past the 9 month mark and enjoying crawling expeditions, pulling up on everything, playing with dog bones and dog toys and dog collars and everything else that's NOT a baby toy. She loves to give nice slobbery mouth kisses and slap the spoon away at solid-food meal times. She's got 4 teeth with likely… Continue

Hunter can be aggressive?? WHAT??

Hunter has always been very submissive around other dogs. She is always the one to immediately lay down and show her belly with a look in her eyes like "Please, please don't eat me". Even when other dogs are aggressive in play at the dog park Hunter stays sweet and timid. So imagine my surprise when she showed that she had ONE aggressive bone in her body!

Saturday we had another couple over and my DH's cousin and her dog Kito. In the couple there is "Bob". Bob is a TOTAL dog/Hunter… Continue

"Most well behaved doodle??" WTD?

Peri had her annual exam yesterday afternoon. She has topped out at 24.6 pounds and is in "perfect" health. The vet and techs were completely OBSESSED! They obviously know her, but she hadn't been to our regular vet that sees Taquito as well since last year.

The vet tech started out by saying "she is the most well behaved doodle we have seen", then turned to Peri and said "you have a very good mama who obviously has taught you obedience". In fairness, Peri was being super good. She…

Vern, Peanut Butter, and a Goose!

The longer we have Vern the more we are discovering he is a night owl. He has things he wants to get done every night and bedtime is not one of them. There are bones to chew, a yard to explore, a cat to bug, and you get the picture. Last night, he finally fell asleep and then my husband came to bed and he woke up ready to go. While I was trying to get him back in the sleepy mode by petting him, I could feel burrs up near his mouth and under his chin. Burrs that did not want to come out, so back… Continue

A Day in the Life of Gatsby Holden

Today was beautiful. Sunny but nice and cool, which is really nice since my fur is black. Mom says I'm not going to like Florida when we move there. So why are we?

Mom took me for a ride in the car. I'm starting to get brave and stick my nose out the window. But it makes me sneeze, so I don't do it for very long. Car rides make me sleepy, though, so I curled up on the backseat and it was lights out. Hope Mom doesn't mind…

Rain, rain.. go away..

They say we do everything "big" in Texas... apparently rain as well. The water in my backyard is several inches deep. It's a couple inches even on my patio. Let me tell you - tons of fun trying to potty train a young puppy in this. Violet is a trouper. She checked it for a few minutes and then braved the lake that is our backyard to find a spot she could call her own. She came in looking like a drowned rat, but I was so proud of her.

I thought I…

Meet Cocoa - my parents adopted Doodle.

My parents got this lady from the DRC. Her previous owner shaved her down - completely... even her whiskers are cut short, and the vet says she has a little bit too much meat on her bones... She's a Labradoodle and did get more of that thick Lab body, though her face is narrow. She's very strong, very solid. She's a big girl, I think she was listed as 42lbs, her actual weight is 68lbs. She doesn't know it though - she is intimidated by my 11 week old Goldendoodle puppy,…
