It's been a while since the Doods and I "blogged", so I thought it was time for an update. Two weeks ago my hard drive "crashed", and it's been a nightmare ever since. I lost everything....my own fault because the only thing I had backed-up were my videos. I lost 1200 pictures...yes, all my puppy pictures are gone. All the pics of our trips and the grandkids are gone. My laptop went to the Apple Hospital for a week and came back to me like a whole new computer. So, that means several days of…

I have never let Guinness or Murphy off lead outside unless we were in a fenced in area. Today we went exploring, and we found a fantastic off leash dog park only 30 minutes away. It is 235 acres of State property on a beautiful river. When we got there we saw a couple of people with their dogs (about 10), but it was so huge you could easily find an area where there were no other dogs. We brought our 30 ft leads....I had planned to "walk them" on the long leads. Well, it was such a perfect…

I'm totally in the mood for a Doodle blog tonight, so I started to think about the past week with my guys, and here's what I came up with....
MURPHY IS A "TEENY BOPPER"Whenever my guys go through a change in their behavior, I always look at the developmental stages to help me understand what they may be thinking. Well, Murph is definitely demonstrating some real "interesting changes", so I looked at the development stages, and here's what I…

We hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend....we did. We went to the beach...it was Murph's first time there. He likes it as much as I do. There were so many things to do and lots of humans to play with us. Here are our favorite things about the beach...
-Digging in the sand....it's the best, and nobody yells at us and says "no". We got to be filthy all weekend, with no baths! Yesterday though, Mom made us go to the groomers...now we're all clean again. We like dirty better. We…

They say when you keep doing the same things over and over again and expecting a different result, you're probably "crazy". Well, I think I fall into that category. We're celebrating another holiday, and what do I do whenever there's a holiday....yup, "dress up" the Doods. And how has that been working for me? You're right....NOT. So, here we are at Memorial Day Weekend. I kept the "pinking scissors" in the bag this time....no bandannas. I decided on a different approach. Old Navy had some…

Tomorrow is Guinness's TDI evaluation, and Guinness's Mom is a nervous wreck. Supposedly the evaluator that will be doing his test is extremely tough....what happened to "the luck of the Irish"! I'm doing a "dry run" with my trainer later this afternoon. I think it's going to all depend on what types of distractions the evaluator uses...what other dogs, will she use young children, how will she interact. There are lots of unknowns. He is certainly trained...it's all about whether or not he gets…

Guinness and Murph decided to enter the DK Page decorating contest for Mother's Day. I sort of shamed them into it by telling them all the other Doodles were doing it for their Moms...I love guilt. So, we did a little work on the page, but this is their blog about what makes ALL Doodle Moms so special.
HUGS, HUGS, KISSES, AND MORE HUGS...that's what our Mom does to us all the time. Sometimes we play hard to get by walking away or pretending we aren't interested, but we really do LOVE…

Okay, it's been a few days, and yes there's more "stuff" going on with my Doods. And yes, that means another blog. So, here goes...
The most important thing is that Murph went to the Vet today for his "post neuter" check up. The Vet thought everything looked great. I did admit to her that I took the cone off a "day or two" early (actually three days) and we let the boys start to play together before today (actually Saturday). She was certainly not shocked...I think they extend the…

Yesterday was quite a day. Now I know why I'm such an advocate of early spay/neuter (like before you even pick them up). It was Murphy's day to lose his manhood, and let me say he is NOT A HAPPY CAMPER! I brought him to the Vet yesterday morning at 8:00. It was awful. He was scared from the time we walked in the door. He just "hugged my legs", and then when the Vet Tech came to get him he got really upset. I felt so bad leaving him. I worried all day,…

I'm sure you are all getting really sick of my blogs by now. Who could blame you...I'm a little sick of them too. Things just keep happening....LOL. Today was our second Therapy Dog "practice session" at the Alzheimers Facility, and today Guinness and I were on our own (no trainer). When we got there we saw many of the same patients we had originally met last week. Guinness seemed to be very calm and happy today...tail wagging from the time we went through the door. I was also feeling WAY more…

I'm sitting here waiting for the carpet steam cleaning guys to show up...you know, that 4 hour "window". I sent the boys to Daycare because I thought that it would be too crazy around here, and now I'm missing them. I don't know what to do with myself...so here I am on DK living vicariously thorough all of you. The Doods are usually my "entertainment". Yesterday's "show" still has me laughing. There was a big black ant that got in through the front door, and he was crawling across the floor in…

A few DK'rs have asked me whether Murphy is bigger than Guinness yet, and how that's going over. Well, he is WAY bigger than Guinness. Guinness weighs 17 pounds, and Murphy is now up to 27. Murph is also a few inches taller than his "big brother". It's really cracking me up. My puppy is going to be on very large, beautiful Doodle boy. Guinness is taking it all in stride. Murphy "body blocks" Guinness, and sends him flying across the room. Guinness…

The Doodle "breed" has always fascinated me for many reasons. I think what has intrigued me most is how different they all look and how varied their personalities are. With my past dogs there were some basic "breed specific" traits, although they each had their distinctive personalities. Now that I have two Doodles...both ALD's, I'm completely amazed by how different they are in just about every way. I really see nothing that I would consider "breed specific" traits. Most of you already know…

Today it was 90 degrees in CT. Murphy was not a "happy camper". We went for our morning walk, and all he wanted to do was turn around and come home. He decided he needed a nap half way through the walk around the block. Guinness was not too thrilled that we had to stop and give "the baby brother" a break. All day he was panting and/or sleeping. He drank "gallons" of water, and peed every 30 minutes. He clearly wanted the air conditioning on, but it's APRIL. I couldn't bring myself to do it.…

When we first got Guinness we decided we would not allow him up on the furniture...except the bed at night for our "cuddle time". A couple of times he tried to jump on the couch, and I told him "no". I really don't think he could have actually gotten up there anyway. It became a "non issue" after that...he just didn't try anymore.
I had bought a couple of Easter stuffed animals for the grand kids, and they were sitting on the daybed in our den. Last night, Murphy was prancing around…

Tomorrow it will be three weeks since we made of NJ road trip to bring our Murphy home. In some ways it feels like he's been part of our family for so much longer. He is one of my boys now, and I love him with all my heart. He and Guinness were fast friends, and that bond just continues to grow. They are crazy about each other. Sometimes when I watch them "Doodling around" I just can't help but laugh. They are clowns together. Guinness though has really developed some "older brother" behaviors.…

Happy St. Patrick's Day Doodle Buddies! We think our Mom finally figured out that it's today....remember she was very confused yesterday. I hear some of you were asking for new pictures of us. Thanks a lot. She lined us up for this "photo op" yesterday...right when we were having a good time playing with (fighting over) the antler. There's another one somewhere, but we boys both like the same one, and it's really so much fun to wrestle for it. Anyway, back to the picture. Remember when Mom made…

It's finally here!!!! We've been watching that St. Patrick's Day countdown clock forever waiting for this day. We're so glad that we found each other so we can celebrate TOGETHER! My Mom is throwing a BIG party on Saturday, and all our dog cousins will be here...lots of little kids to play with too. I think she'll make us special surprises to eat...the humans eat corned beef and cabbage, but that's not good for Doods. We hope you have a really fun day. It's finally sunny here, and that means…
