Well we signed up to receive a puppy from one dog and we were number 6 on the list but our dog just had two puppies. Thankfully there was room on the mini and the other Medium sized doodle. So we pick 9th out to 9 puppies. There were 4 girls and 5 boys. We want a girl but if girls are popular that day we may end up with a boy. They are so cute. They are now a little over 2 weeks old. She said some may drop out or decide to wait so if that happened we may move up on the list.…

In just a few hours, I will be en route to the airport! Am I flying to another tropical, luscious destination? Sadly no, but that is just fine with me because I am picking up precious passengers instead! Two of my dearest friends, whom I studied abroad with in Italy, are arriving today for a five-night stay. It is hard to believe that it has been six years since I, a college senior, traipsed through the streets of Florence with these two beauties. Our…

Milton and I enjoy taking walks in the early evening when the sun is finally beginning to wane. Last night we left here at about 8:00P.M., and we began our usually two-mile loop. We go up one side of the street, sniffing about, and we return down the other side because we need to check that out too.
Now, Jeff and I might have created a nasty habit (I don't think so.), but during our early morning jogs throughout the…

Hi everyone! I have been getting some pictures of Lyric's last litter and thought you might like to see how GORGEOUS the kids are getting! 17 weeks old now! All are doing so well with their puppy classes and training--such a smart litter!
I can't get all the pics into this post--sometimes this happens where I add a bunch of photos and then it won't let me add any more! So Scotty (formerly Nemo) will be in the comment section...
This is Pesca, the big curly girl named Peaches at…

One of the best parts of summer is being able to head into the canyon to hike and play in the water! It's one of Darwin's favorite places to be, and we all come home tired and filthy. This is the first time we've been this year because it's closed for the winter and it takes a while for all of the vegetation to come back. I was completely blown away when we started driving in, it's beautiful!…

I get accused a lot from my oldest daughter of doing nothing. She will call me on the phone and ask me what I am doing and when I say, “nothing,” she usually says she is not surprised. Whenever I call her and she doesn’t answer and I ask her later why she made me leave a message, she will puff up like a peacock and say in this hoity…

Good Morning! Jeff and I returned home yesterday from a five-day vacation in Mexico! One of Jeff's good buddies from high school, Robbie, was getting married on the beach, so, of course, we absolutely had to attend. While we were lounging at the pool, we sent Milton off to "camp," otherwise known as his usual, Downtown Dog. Upon arrival home, Milt Dog is utterly exhausted. Last night Jeff and I bathed and brushed to get him nice and clean again after all of his…

When you’ve got projects, work, and doodle/family activities, (or children, cats, etc…) to cram into each day – the days seem to come and go so quickly. At least they do at our house!
Once the sun starts to set on Sunday, and things slow down a bit – I retreat to my office to finalize my thoughts and notes before I post another blog . This Sunday, I couldn’t decide where to begin, because this entire week has been a “blur.”
Then I thought – why not share “a little…

I was worried about the riots in Istanbul because we are scheduled to visit there in a few weeks and that is an important part of my upcoming trip. However, that has paled to insignificance. My step-daughter's two year old grand-daughter passed out in daycare and blood tests show that her red blood cell count is so far down that it is off the charts. Doctors don't know the cause. Things like that bring me back to reality and help me realize what is really important!

My DH is a huge Boston Bruins fan. We (or should I say I) have been discussing adding another doodle to the house : )
Well, DH's Bruins were not playing all that great so when the subject came up again... his statement was..." Ok fine, if the Boston Bruins win the Stanley Cup, we will get another doodle"...
Well guess what...last night they won the series against Pittsburg and they are in the Stanley Cup finals...Sooooooo, we are 4 games away from adding another doodle to our…

Gracie is a mountain dog. She was born in Colorado in the spring of 2012 and has lived through all 4 seasons with us at 8200 feet. Shortly after we brought her home, Mother Nature blessed us with a big dump of snow in early June. It only took seconds for Gracie to fall in love with the white stuff…

I think just about everyone knows about our journey with Murphy...the training and behavior therapy to help him manage through his reactiveness and aggression. Well I think we're through the outward manifastation of his fear and insecurities....no more horrible barking, lunging and "freaking out" on walks when he sees other people or dogs. Over the past few weeks we've been seeing some new behaviors that make me feel almost worse. Murphy has now been trained to know not to "react" to…

This morning, Charlotte crawled right up to Peri and pulled her tail. I had turned my back for two seconds. Peri gave an annoyed grunt and walked away. I told Charlotte "NO, you must be gentle" - I am trying to teach that but am dealing with an 8 month old and pretty sure they don't understand that yet :) Anyway, after that I think Peri felt bad and started following Charlotte everywhere. Literally everywhere. I think I have told y'all before, but Peri is such a good doodle sister. She…

He still has his puppiness - and still chews up stuffies, steals socks and drags in sticks from the yard, but he has grown up some too! His routines are set and he accepts the not so fun time willingly and with good grace. His energy at the dog park is boundless and he will do "sit pretty" for any audience as many times as asked as long as a treat is at hand. He bounces up onto our bed to lick me awake every morning as if it is the best morning ever! and he makes it so!
He has…

Spuds still does not like to be put into his crate with the door closed. SIGH!! I have put food in the crate and he will go inside and eat the food. He will go inside the crate and get a toy out too. But, if he is put into the crate and the door is closed he goes into a panic attack. It doesn't matter if he can see me or if I leave the house, he barks, and drools.
We were practicing yesterday. I had a bag of treats and said "cage" that is the universal term around my house. I…
