Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi all,
Just wanted to share some information about the "No Pull Freedom Harness" by Wiggle, Wags and Whiskers. Paz is a working therapy dog, and generally wears the "Sensation Harness" which a "Pet Partners" therapy dog is permitted to wear while working. We live in Lower Manhattan, and Paz has a tendency to pull when he sees a dog or child that he wants to play with, and the Sensation Harness didn't seem to limit his pulling. I heard about the "No Pull Freedom Harness" made by…

With our trip home to Owasco Lake, comes a lot of firsts. What do doggies do on a lake? Obviously, swim! Milton was not thrilled with the idea of interacting with water again especially after that fated boat ride. We were adamant though that our little goldendoodle get back up on that horse!
As with everything, we fed Milton treats before, during, and after the water to associate the experience as something good and tasty. My childhood dog, Brutus, was thrown off the dock…

When I think about Independence Day, I always think about my ancestors who were brave enough AND SMART ENOUGH to leave their homes in the old word and venture to our wonderful country...
Of course, some of my ancestors did not come to the United States. They came to the colonies of Virginia and Pennsylvania as well as from Ireland to the State of Tejas and Coahilla which was then part of Mexico and which, after they spilled some of their blood in the cause of independence,…

The Fourth of July is a time for the "F" word - Fun! My dad always made this little joke, and the 4th was his favorite holiday of all. Since my dad passed away a year ago April, I always recall special memories of him, especially on the holidays.
Once again that crazy Uncle Dave, decided to make our celebration one to remember by renting a gigantic waterslide. It was steep, scary, and super FUN! My dad would have loved it, and that is why Dave got it.…

So last year my beautiful Maggie decided to wait to come into heat until all of my six children and their families (18 of them) rented a house together at the beach.. That breeding had to be canceled of course. So this time, a year later, she decided to wait until we were in CO at my daughters wedding. Frantic callings to the vet for bruceloosis, to the guardian owner to get her to a boarding facility, to the stud owner to arrange my driving 210 mile to get the two together the day I got…

Ever since Hank was a little pup I have watched him get so scared by the bangs of fireworks. Hank reactions are subtle, first he starts to pant...then he leans...and if it keep up he eventually ends up either under my legs or hiding behind me.
Just a reminder to keep our pets safe this 4th of July

Let's just say, I should have known better! On our first full vacation day in New York, Uncle Dave stopped by to eat lunch and say hello to Milton. Since Uncle Dave owns Owasco Marine on Owasco Lake where we live, he drove a work barge over via the water instead of a car. That is just one of the many perks of working on the lake all day!…

Happy Birthday to our Beautiful Kona Bug! She is such a sweet, cuddly and independant girl. She has fit so perfectly into our lives, and I don't think Buddy would know what to do without all her antics.
We had a wonderful year with a trip to San Diego to meet with Doodle friends and started a new class…

I don't know if Peri is picking up on my nesting habits, but for the first time EVER, I have found a toy that she has not destroyed. EVER. For about 10 days, she has had this squeaky chicken that I found at Target. She carries it around and follows me throughout the house with it. We have been doing a lot in the nursery lately, hanging curtains, art, etc...and she brings "baby chicken" (as we call it) in there and just lies down on the floor with it and licks…

So I had an important Skype call and decided it best for Ollie to go to play care for the afternoon...so he wouldn't try and eat my computer screen or something. Well I got Ollie loaded up, dropped him off, and went about my day. I had the Skype call and then went to go pick him up. He was there about 4 hours.
This was Ollie's first experience at playcare. We have done stays at friends houses and have been to the dog park, so I knew he would be just fine, but I was still…

I have not been on to write to our friends on Doodle Kisses. I want to let all of you who have puppies from Evergreen Manor know about the tragic events that we have experienced this month. Ann, my wife, died on June 10th as a result of complications from her cancer treatments. We were shocked by the way things happened, and are adjusting to our new reality. At the same time we have one litter that arrived on June 25th, and another that will be coming around July 25th. It is comforting to…

The Milt is in New York - we made it! The long, long drive went very smoothly. We left Dallas at 9P.M. on Friday evening and drove all through the night, crossing East Texas and Arkansas, to arrive at our Tennessee destination at 8A.M. the following morning. Jeff and I alternated turns driving, and I was very thankful that I decided not to make the trip on my own. For the entire ride, Milton sat in one of our laps up front with his seatbelt harness securely fastened. He was a very sweet…

Did I ever tell you Leo was afraid of the weirdest things? He has the strangest reactions to the oddest of objects:

Today is Monty's birthday. He received an entire cooked chicken breast instead of a tablespoon of chicken on his food. He ate nearly his entire dish of food which never happens. We have finally retired to the hot, hot deck (large fan running of course, and ice cubes in his water dish) He thought the Frosty Paws treat was a nice touch.
How do you spoil/treat a dog that is spoiled everyday? lol

As some of you may know, our little family is embarking on a 25-hour journey today to New York. We are making the pilgrimage home to introduce the Milt to the fam. Last year I went home for the entire summer, but this year I didn't want to keep Milton away from his daddy too long, so it will just be a two week vacation. This little jaunt is also to fulfill my own desire of a cross country road trip. All of the naysayers who spoke out against it actually encouraged me to do…

As many of you know and have been kind enough to ask about, I have poison ivy and it has not been fun. In the past, I had no respect for the power of this plant because I have never had poison ivy before. As a kid, I played out all day and I am sure I came in contact with this plant many times and I guess because nothing came of it, I developed a cavalier attitude and even scoffed at anyone who tried to warn me of the dangers. Sometimes, when we would hike, my husband would point to…

Called a new groomer, she asked for all kinds of information as I was first time client. At the end of conversation she asked:" Is Charles neutered?" I said "Yes", but my dog's name is " Riley". There was just silence on the line, then she said: " I asked, for the dog's name". LOL. My, SNL has been cutting him for the years, she is going in for an operation and had to take him to someone new. It is just too hard on her right now. We, will see!

This past week, my husband was away on business. Last time, he left me all alone with our daughter, the power went out for the entire weekend and I swore he wasn’t going to get away from me again. Unfortunately, his work does not seem to think being married to a hapless woman is reason enough to skip a conference. He also didn’t seem to care when I said, “if you leave me, I might not be here when you get back,” because all he said was that was like telling him if he ate a steak dinner…
