I posted something about this in the Food Group today, a group I try to stay active in (and by try, I mean, try while working full time and caring for a 17 month old human child, husband and two dogs). I realized this would serve as an important time for me to remind you all about a few things:
1. Buy pet insurance for your dog while he/she is young. NOW.
2. Carefully verify the sources of ingredients for the food and treats you feed your doodles. Their life could…

I’ll start with a disclaimer: I am fully aware that my dog is a mix of golden retriever and standard poodle.
I have taken Ragley everywhere with me since the day she came home. Being a friendly sort, she thinks she is God’s gift to all the people of Earth and so we meet a LOT of people when we go places because she is very proactive in greeting her new human friends. People are always happy to say hello and most of the time they know she is some sort of doodle- we get labradoodle most…

First I want to thank everyone who commented on the Sturgis' story in my last blog. I would like to respond to each individual post but as of yet have not figured out how to do that. I spend entire days at times on the computer, but still am not a natural and mostly stumble across the way to do things as I go. When I figure out how to respond to comments I will be so glad,,,as of now,,,to all those reading and responding…

Dee and I met in church. Over the years we’ve had occasional telephone calls, stolen moments between services, and random infrequent emails.
When I started blogging Dee was one of our first subscribers outside of my immediate family. She is a very busy lady; Minister, Grad Student, Professional Career, etc… To know that she was actively engaged in my blog posts humbled me. She took the time to keep up with our stories!
I was without words a few weeks ago when Dee informed me…

I used to love winter, until this winter. Now, I can’t wait until it is but a dim memory. My dogs and I have had cabin fever most of this winter because there is no place to go that isn’t covered in snow or ice and some days we have not been able to get out at all. I am not always able to get…

I realized I am WAY behind on my DK news and decided to get back into the swing of things by posting about yesterday's milestone. My sweet pup has crossed the threshold into adulthood. I have no idea how it happened - only yesterday we were running through the house with a peeing puppy trying to teach him to potty outside, then all of the sudden it's February 7, 2014 and he's not a puppy anymore.
I hope we made it special for him. I know that here, on DK, it is safe…

We are proud folks here!
Bode Miller (he spells it Bode, but for ease of understanding when naming our pup I added an i ) the skier is killin' it in Sochi so far!! This is Bode Miller's 5th Olympic games, he is 36 years old, and after three training runs he is in first place in the downhill. I watched his last run this morning and it was magnificent!! He is completely in control on what appears to be a course designed to blow world class skiers right off the mountain! Bode Miller is…

Hello, my friends. Tomorrow is a momentous day for me. I will be six months old. My human family tells me it's not a real birthday. Whatever. They're such Debbie Downers. I beg to disagree with them (and believe me, I'm good at begging). My human sister Chloe officially celebrated joining the Teenageddon army the other day, and now I am a terrible teen, too.
Life as a teenager isn't so bad. The humans I encounter on the street still think I'm super…

Our evening at the 2014 Sugar & Champagne Affair hosted by the Washington Humane Society was more spectacular than I dared to ever dream of.
This Annual event honors local crusaders against animal cruelty. In addition to honoring their own, the Washington Humane Society (WHS)…

The other day I wrote on my FB page: “I love God, my husband, my family (two and four legs), and Charleston, SC.” I am obsessed with that place, can’t get enough, have always wanted to live there, and for many reasons:
If you’ve never been, please place it on…

Pff, had to restrain myself watching the first video just now. It is just ugly and horrible how people who claim to know what they are doing (but aren't groomers) are grooming Doodles and putting the wrong info on the web for every Doodle owner to see and wrongly copy. So I hope that by giving you the right information you will be able to groom your Doodle in a professional, natural looking way, without silly shaving trics that do not only look ugly, but can harm your Doodle as…

Mr Miller is enjoying a day with his friends at preschool.
It is really a doggie day care, but we just prefer the term preschool!
Bodie goes to preschool once or twice a week depending on my schedule, the weather, and his level of exuberance. Most days someone is home most of the day. As a freelancer I control my own schedule and try not to work out of the house more than 3 days a week or more than 6 hours a day,,,,I am old and lose patience very quickly these days!! About 6…

A local BIG NAME and BIG BUCKS, animal organization that is very selective in the dogs and cats that they will accept has sent a letter to all smaller local rescue groups "OFFERING" to accept our puppies.
This organization will not accept strays, old dogs, or hard vet cases (unless there is a lot of publicity involved). But they are kindly "OFFERING" to accept our puppies.
The rehoming fees from puppies help most smaller rescue groups help older animals and…

I wish I had known about this site when I first brought Miss Beasley home. I picked her up at 6 weeks because I didn't know the importance of her staying with her mama until she was at least 8 weeks old. It was summer time and I had a lot of friends in and out of my home. I had read that you shouldn't talk to a pup when inside it's crate and I also read to feed the pup inside for a few days so it would want to go into it. I soon made a list of rules for Miss Beasley so that…

While the rest of the world prepared for the “most watched” sports event on television, DH, The Boys, and I were headed to warmer weather. I was so ready for a break from the snow.
As soon as we reached our destination and got out of the car, Harley pranced around like he owned the neighborhood……

If you're reading this blog, great. I am really not writing for public consumption, I love to write, I love to blog and I write for my own pleasure. I had a blog for 3 years following a weight loss journey but have reached the point of just being sick of the whole thing,,,so now as the opportunity has presented…

Today I want to tell you a story. A story about a soldier and his dog. A story about Henry, his puppy Maximus, and of course The Boys.
Meet Henry. An Army Non-Commissioned Officer assigned to an EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) Unit, and his (then) 6 or 8 week old partner in crime “Max” or as Henry insists I use his full name: Maximus! A Brindle Pit/Lab rescue mix……
