Well, I said I wasn't going to start this until next week when I had more free time, but I'm so excited and anxious that I can't distract myself from the matters at mind. What you'll read following is my story!
Years ago, 7 to be precise, I was captivated by the radiant beauty of stunning young lady named Katie. Katie was a professional student then, and I a graduate student, when we met in the neuroanatomy lab. Careers and life led us in different directions in the time after and…

Apollo will be 13 weeks old on Saturday. It's hard to believe that he's been with us for almost 5 weeks. Like most new puppies, he spent the first few days laying around quietly...waiting to let it all out! By day 4 with us he went from 1 to 10! Nipping, jumping, etc. We love him, puppy behavior and all.
I've figured out that the more exercise he gets the easier it is for him to settle down at bedtime. I've found it hard to get adequate exercise when we can't take him on walks through…

This week I would love to listen to you!
I’m asking to hear your “stories” and “woe’s” about the crazy weather in your region and how – if any – your dog is affected.
Living on the East Coast we typically would have already experienced at least one strong snowstorm, a few…

I cant believe it has been 6 months since I lost my job and DH and I sold our stuff, packed up the car with pets and THEIR stuff, and drove half way across the country to the inlaws.
It has been a busy time, and we finally acclimatized to the cold …

Well I am hoping to be leaving on a jet plane,. With all the luggage I have, I am not sure we ever will make it off the ground.
Finally after a whole year of waiting, doing fund raising, and waiting for my insurance to change so I can go out of state. I am this Saturday headed to National Jewish Hospital. I will be gone at least 14 days, maybe a little longer. National Jewish is one of the top Cystic Fibrosis Hospitals in the Country but more importantly then then they are…

I can't believe my babies are both 3 years old now! Sheba turned 3 on Christmas Day and Duke turned 3 on March 15th. Time sure flies. I can't imagine my life without them! Sheba has turned into such a wonderful, loving, sweet and well behaved little girl and is always my foster dog baby sitter. Duke is Duke. What can I say? He is a big lover and the goofiest dog I've ever had. Both of them have added so much love and laughter to our lives. : )…

As most of you know our daughter lives in Oregon. We live in Pennsylvania, so we are trying not to take it personally that she moved just about as far away as possible as she could from home.
She claims she loves her job and good jobs are hard to come by in these tough times. We have told her she could live in our basement and we would go back to giving her an…

Four Maltese rescues have been adopted this past weekend and are in their new homes. One rescue has been selected for a furever home (waiting for this weekend to go there) and one cute 12-week old puppy (an owner surrender) has arrived as a new foster!
The five adoptions make eleven fosters through our house this year!
The puppy is actually the only one of the three fosters we have in the house that is ready for adoption. The other two have some health…

Our county run animal shelter had a beautiful cream standard poodle surrendered to them this weekend. I would hate to see this dog put down because she doesn't find a home. She is four years old so it you be my guess already house broken. When I stopped by to check to see if it was a doodle she seemed very friendly.
She is located at…

We are pleased to announce that Peri and Taquito are getting a sibling...in late September/early October!!!
No, our breeder's waitlist is not THAT backed up....
It will be a HUMAN sibling! I am expecting a little one!!! I have been anxiously awaiting hitting my 12 week mark (tomorrow)..I am finally almost into my second trimester. I wanted all of my DK friends to know as soon as I felt comfortable blabbing the news!
We purchased a doppler to use at home so we could…

Our neighbour who lives about 1 km away just stopped by to see my FIL. He told us his dog just had puppies. He has a female husky cross who is very territorial, and a male lab newfie cross who is friendly but crazy. Neither are fixed and both are left outside. The husky is tied up outside pretty much all the time, the lab/newfie is sometimes loose outside, sometimes inside. This is quite common in this area unfortunately.
WHAT DID THEY EXPECT WOULD HAPPEN!
She…

This was grooming weekend for the boys. Declan got a bath and blow-dry and his important bits trimmed (or shaved, as appropriate), his ears flushed and his nails trimmed. Dec loooooves being groomed. When it's Lach's turn I have to peel Dec off the table because he wants a turn NOW! If I'm just doing ears and feet they both get on the table together. Just as well I have a big, sturdy table.
Lachlan ... poof, he's a Saluki? *grin* Lach's coat is so bloody thick it's almost impossible…

DH entered in another triathlon this weekend, so we took Chewie along on a 3-hour drive to seaside town of Rayong.
Here's Chewie in the car with DH's bicycle. "Mommy, are we there yet?"
Here's Chewie at the Start/Finish Line. Behind him is the transition area with around 250 bicycles.…

My husband and I took our dogs for a training walk today and we are now “this close” to signing divorce papers. We always start out with the best of intentions and then it all starts to go bad. I can’t pinpoint exactly what the problem is, but my best guess is it is my husband. After all, I have tried explaining to him that I have taken both dogs to their puppy classes, I read the DK training group’s advice religiously, and I have attended at least eight more…

The week has been unseasonably mild here in NH, with temps in the 60's. We've been able to get a jump on yard work - which is a great thing as we never quite finished our fall clean-up. When we're unable to keep a constant eye on Banjo, we'll tether him to the front porch. He can sit up on the porch, or down on the driveway. There's one stubborn patch of ice that remains and THAT is where Banjo gets comfy! …

Well, we are still living out in the country, preparing to move. Darwin is loving all of the extra people and space of course, and I think he's going to be sad when we leave. The funny thing about it is that there is so much space and places for him to run free but we never let him because he gets so filthy. Not to mention matted and covered in burrs. His coat is just terrible for this type of environment... like velcro.
So, now that spring has come I decided to get him…

Here are the latest new puppy owners with their babies--I forgot to take a picture of Hazel (the chocolate female) who went home to the owners of the momma dog--I will have to ask them to send a picture!
I still have 5 here and they are so active now at 9 weeks old! March is vacation time for three families, so they are staying a bit longer while the families travel. The other two are going to a breeder and a guardian home so will be with me for a while. Exhausting!!
I…

So it's come to be the time in my life where I start thinking about buying a backyard for the doodles (and a corresponding house of some sort too). Yes that's right, I'm investing in real estate for the doodles. Ok, that's not entirely true, they say owning a home is a good investment, and it would be really nice to have a garden and a barbeque, and a little more space. However, the idea of being responsible for a house is scary business to me. Who do I call when something breaks?…
