'Don't Tell Dad'
Twenty seven years ago I had a Four year old daughter Jessica, a baby son Jordan, a husband and a German Shepherd Chris. tragedy struck our family when my baby son died, suddenly and unexpectedly on my first day back to work. Jordan was 15 and a half weeks old and in the care of a lovely French Au Pair for just over two hours when I returned home to find him in his pram, not breathing and lifeless. He was still warm and my frantic drive home was the result…

This has nothing at all to do with dogs but is such a cute and true story that happened to a friend of mine a few years ago.
My friend went out one evening leaving her young son at home with her DH. While she was out her DH spotted a mouse and like the good husband he was, he did his very best to catch it before his wife came home. The mouse ran behind the fridge and there was nothing else to do but pull out the fridge to get the mouse. His son was right there with him on the great…

So the kids are pretty much grown up and I thought all the embarrassing moments were over, right? Enter Murphy Doodle....back to being mortified on a regular basis. We're walking on our Bike Path each day now with both guys. Each day brings a new "Murphy experience". Yesterday we walked a couple of miles and he was doing great...lots of people, bikes, dogs....no problems. Then I noticed a guy walking towards us....and I didn't like him. He just looked really arrogant...perfect…

Natalie was temporarily named Wiggle Worm and this little guy's in utero name is "Peanut" :-) We have far to go in deciding a real name. He and Natalie will be about 21 months apart.

It just so happened that two of my puppies from my October English Golden Doodle litter, wanted to come visit me this weekend. Just in time for the Snelville(near Atlanta) doodle romp. The first thing Maggie did when she got out of the car was to head straight for the goldfish pond. A winters worth of fish sludge and she came out green and smelling like a fish. Wanting her to make a good impression at the doodle romp, it was bath time. Louie Moon, who has been with me for several days…

Several posts about disposable pets, got me thinking about our rescue dog. They say the right dog finds you, but in our case we have had the right dog find us "Four" times. First, our family dog, Hershey, who we got when our children were young. We did almost everything wrong with her and she blossomed into the absolute best dog. Hershey will be forever the standard for all of our other dogs. The last few years of her life were very hard. She had the audacity to get old. She had trouble…

When Lyric had her litter, I wanted a smaller pup since Lyric is already a pretty big dog and Mattie my other doodle is small. I wanted a pup that was in between! So, I wanted the smallest pup in the litter--and the fact that the black and white one, who I was just totally in love with, was the smallest clinched it.
Well, three months later, my little Rio has grown these long legs and now towers over his brother Rafi--who was...you guessed it...the BIGGEST puppy in the litter. They…

"Do u want to go? Go with mom and dad?" Shelby just hops tail up on the sofa and just look away. Not awful at all just I think she likes to play possum. " Why me, Dad " My wife and I will just walk to the front door. Her eyes follow but her muzzle will just not move. Whats the goal Shelby?? Dad just doesnt understand, why? As the door flies open she will raise her head, still glued to where she is and then put on the most pitiful face as if she was not invited.
After…

Hi from Sheila:
Hi all you doods. Yeah, it's spring and I have spring fever badly. I am so much friskier, and honestly, why is Mom so hyped up about my constant barking at everything that lives and breathes in the backyard? These brown fuzzy things tease me so from the top of the fence. They take alot of barking at bc I am only 9 lbs., so I have to puff myself up and really get after them. Boy I am fast, tho, and I check all four corners of my wooden fenced in yard. Zooming…

I saw this posting this morning and thought it was a pretty good deal :-) I like Dog Fancy - they have changed it recently to feature more than just purebreds and have some neat articles on products and food. Here is the link!

Today I spent the morning with Jack giving him a bath, grooming and nail trimming. He just warms my heart, not usually on grooming days, usually we are so wiped out, that when we are done we go our separate ways and have a rest.
Today I went to visit my friend in the hospital, she had a baby and I am the honorary auntie.... I put it off as long as I could the dreaded going into the baby store.. For me, this tears at my heart more then anything... I can get lost in there for…

This a.m. started off just fine - well, except for getting up at 4:30 a.m. to help DH pack and drive him to the airport. I fed Rooney about 5:30, he ate just fine, had aready gone poo and pee and he was just running around like a crazy toddler. The mobile groomer was coming at 9:00 to give Roo a much needed spa day, I was excited - I love it when he is buffed and puffed - so cute. So I'm thinking this is going to be a good day - till 8:15 when Rooney threw up his breakfast. I didn't…

Today is Peri's 2nd Birthday! I can't believe it has been two years since I received an email from the breeder saying "she only had 6 puppies and you will have to wait until the next litter". I was crushed. But low and behold, two people ahead of me did not want a girl. I have to admit, I wanted a male originally. I decided I liked the parents and didn't care and went with the little girl. To say I made the right decision is a huge understatement.
Happy Birthday to Lady…

The first week went well, Bernie is conscientious of us when walking. Practice really does pay off.
We stuck to the 10 minute training blocks, but were able to do 2-3 per day, it worked great for us.
And tonight in class we had to "prove" we worked with him all week.
Bernie did okay, but not great. We think it's in part due to the sociable Doodle nature and the fact that he's 10 months old...but he did better after the…

I originally posted this in the Therapy group, but wanted to let everyone know how Lily's first visit went. A little background first. A couple weeks ago we got a call from the coodinator of the pet therapy program we volunteer with about a new reading program at one of our local librarys. She wanted to know if we wanted to be the first dog they have for the kids to read to. We thought Lily would be great at it.
Well this last Saturday was the first time. And we were right. Lily did…
